  1. With my brain the size of a planet I will need XXXXL! ???? I'll get my coat.
  2. I travel from CNX to Europe via BKK at least once a year (twice in the last months, last time in April). Only ONCE in 2020 (height of Covid) did I have to check in twice - get my bags from the domestic flight then high-tail it over to the int'l flight, then gop through passport control in BKK. Major pain and good job I had several hours to do it. This has been the case for at least the last ten years or more. Usually I fly Thai and sometimes they say check in at the domestic desk, last two times it has been the International one (smaller queue! ???? ) Doesn't seem to be any logic to it. The end result is the same: bags checked in all the way, and boarding passes for BOTH flights. Get my CIQ sticker and go through passport control in CNX (again much MUCH smaller queue!)
  3. To be honest no but he was talking about a LOT of money (certainly more than a thousand SGD (thinking back it could have 1500-2000) so approx 35-50 thousand baht - which definitely made me think again. I found Singapore medical prices quite reasonable - up until then. But he was talking about "Full Monty" draining the thing and then rebuilding (got technical at this point), definitely more than one procedure. I've got a plasitc tooth to replace it now. Oh and there were two teeth involved so that's just doubled it ???? The other one hasn't given me grief - yet - but when it does - it's history.
  4. I went to a root canal specialist in Singapore and he said it was multiple procedures that would end up with a crown. Cost approx 10,000 SGD (can't remember the exact figure but it made my eyes water). I just got the tooth pulled instead and then got a new plastiic bridge thingie that cost 3000 baht. Simples.
  5. I'm doing a special this week and "recently" (this year) had my pliers sterilized. Good job you came on this forum to get top medical advice! Lucky, lucky you!
  6. Hint - make the title of your post more informative.
  7. This has happened to me once or twice (on trains in Europe) and I was a bit chagrined that this attractive young lady thought I was old and/or disabled - but I took the seat anyway.
  8. ONly if he was falling from the Moon with one-sixth of Earths gravity. s=1/2at[squared] distance is 1200 metres, acceleration is 10 m/s/s so approx sixteen seconds. Still time to have second thoughts there.
  9. Sorry is tis one of those plastic sex dolls? They've come a long way since my day!
  10. My wife bought a treadmill thingie - never uses it - so almost brand new.
  11. I just checked my initial policy (Pacific Cross) and it says : Waiting Period (s): Investigation and treatment of cataracts and their complications are not covered for a period of 2 years, then reassess. This waiting period can be reassessed earlier upon provision of a recent eye exam by a qualified ophthalmologist.
  12. Just watched Black Mirror Season 6 - excellent
  13. Chiang Mai has a GOVERNOR? I thought they used a cardboard cut-out ????
  14. EVERYBODY KNOWS in Switzerland all crime is done by foreigners. That's why 71% of people in jail in Switzerland are not Swiss. And to be honest if you live near France (e.g. Geneva) French (pesky foreigners) do the majority of burglaries (at least according to local folklore). They nip over the border at night, do their pesky crimes and nip back. So it is said.
  15. Don't know what was in that link (stupid of me not to check) but it started talking in a funny language ???? and the resturant is in Chiang RAI not MAI! Which was in the original post and I again (stupidly) did not check. My apologies. So there is life in Chiang Rai then?
  16. I have two laptops (apart from my work one) and they are both over ten years old, and still working. Windows 10 (they can't do 11)
  17. Er - slight technical difficulty - if you flying into CNX after arriving from international flight to BKK (Suvarnabhumi I can't speak for Don Muang) then you go through immigration in BANGKOK - that has been my experience for the last several years. Only DIRECT int'l flights go through CNX immigration.
  18. Hang Dong - centre of the Universe. We have our own shopping centre here called Kad Falang!
  19. Well lashing worked for Roya Navy sailors - that and rum, according to Winston Churchill. Plus something else we're not allowed to mention.
  20. Good luck! Many years I knew somebody who opened a coffee/cake shop next to a book shop in Chiang Mai but that seemed to disappear. Here's hoping you have more success. P.S. could not read the small print in your post but I'm sure it was all useful info.
  21. For verification Google (Gmail) have got my phone number - for two-step authentication stuff. At the time it was optional (they also have a bunch of devices I use in their list) but I went for it. I don't get spam marketing calls on it so I assume Google didn't sell it on. Doesn't worry me. If you can't trust Gmail who can you trust ???? NEVER had that. Just use password which is embedded in the Google saved passwords thing anyway.
  22. Yep with his face covered with sun-glasses and a mask he certainly looked frail, the poor lamb. My heart goes out to him.
  23. I remember in the early eighties being in Bangkok in May - and the roads were flooded. As somebody pointed out - nothing new. Sea level rise is currently metres per millenia. And filling in all the canals to make roads was not such a smart idea......
