  1. I found Phuket taxi drivers at the airport not in the least revolting but if I need a taxi in Chiang Mai I use "CNX Taxis" on WhatsApp
  2. Is it just me, or have ALL the North Korean "nuclear" tests been underground and no radiation detected? That it could have just a couple of thousand tonnes of high-explosive? Or should I start wearing my Tin-Foil Hat again to protect me from conspiracy theories? And Wiki confirms my view, that no radiation has been detected? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_North_Korean_nuclear_test So is the mad Great Leader (and his dad and grandad) just carrying out a massive bluff, with the "threat" of a load of wobbly rockets that most of time just fall into the Pacific Ocean? With absolutely ZERO viable nuclear payload?
  3. This seems to vary according to a) the bank (and branch) and b) the applicants personal situation. On a Visa-exempt I went into a branch of Bangkok Bank in Chiang Mai with my (Thai) wife who has a bank account there (with that branch) already, one hour later I walked out with an ATM card and passbook for a savings account. YMMV
  4. Um, sorry - how do you LOSE points? Do you start off with some points and then they take them off you and then you end up with nothing?
  5. Triplets Eat and Play in Hang Dong is nice. Oh sorry I didn't realise we were talking about Bangkok only -my bad ???? Sometimes I forget it is the centre of the universe ha ha
  6. "HOT Magazine is a Thailand based luxury lifestyle magazine connecting with Asia’s wealthy, brand-conscious, high net worth individuals, through their chosen lifestyle activities." The same ole same ole every month. COMPLETELY appropriate for members of this forum. I'm even wearing a clean "wife-beater" in the KFC! Download this file
  7. Could somebody post his Youtube channel link so I can follow his healthy lifestyle please?
  8. No I think in the end Great Britain and the American Colonies called it a draw.
  9. Hey, who let them take a picture of my boat? This magazine is SO relevant as it fits in with the lifestyles of SO many of this forums readers. Yep, that's me to a tee. Just off to Big C now to see if they are throwing any food away.
  10. I get this prescribed in Europe and also got it on prescription from Chiang Mai Ram Hospital (recently last year or two?) - when was it banned? Do you mean it can't be bought without a prescription anymor? But it is a GREAT de-congestant. It was banned as an over the-the-counter medicine in Europe and the US because it is can be used as a pre-cursor to amphetamine. But In several countries (e.g. Canada, Quatar and Singapore) it CAN be bought OTC.
  11. Totally 100% agree. Don't waste your time here - find someone who knows what they are talking about.
  12. My $0.02 I had a really silly "minor" operation on my armpit to remove an ingrowing boil - five years ago. A year or so later, I noticed I couldn't put my watch on my wrist and my wife commented on how swollened that hand was. Turned out which is very common in surgery of this kind (Doctor Hannah Fry had something similar after cancer removal, did a very good programme on it) they had damaged the lyphmatic node (lymph gland) in my armpit (doctor word - axilla) so my hand (and arm) was swelling up. I had physiotherapy (which was next to useless but the massuese was very pleasant ???? ) and am able to control it - with a compression stocking on my arm! Jest sayin' (not a doctor) you may have a problem with your lymphatic system and you REALLY REALLY need to get it looked at, and not by the medical experts on this forum like myself (ha ha ironic). PSOSTSCRIPT if anyone is still reading this (I thank you for your continued interest) I recently had an MRI scan on my arm where they injected some chemicals between my fingers and am due for another kind of scan soon. I only wear the stocking four days a week (day time only) now and my swelling has reduced but still there. Maybe it'll fix itself (could take years apparently, it's been three years already) but I am told they could do yet MORE surgery to put tubes in my armpit. Thanks - but no thanks. I'll just keep wearing the stocking. Anyone know where I can get one in Chiang Mai? My "goto" place is the Pharma opposite Maharaj Nakhorn Hospital - they are pretty clued up there.
  13. Open a bank account in your name and send the money to this account. Then set up a transfer from there to your wifes account (automatic payment). That's what I do. If you are living here surely you have a local account to show money coming in to the immigration authorites or shouldn't I ask? ????
  14. Woops! Off-shore techie put a comma in the wrong place...... shouldn't have fired all them people eh Microsoft? Meanwhile Rishi Sunaks' father-in-law gets richer and richer......
  15. Cost me approx. 100 euros but yes essential for Thai road cycling I've found (I've just bought it). Gives me lots of false positives but better than false negatives! ????
  16. Thanks everyone for the useful routes which I shall investigate.
  17. Just realised I've quoted the wrong person here. Well, it's late in the day here in Euroland.
  18. As "nigelforbes" pointed out that is VERY reasonable and not something I've ever seen or been offered (you're talking roughly 25k baht for the Full Monty a.k.a. everything included?) I'm going again in April I shall ask if they do a special like that - can I mention your name to get a discount? ????
  19. Is there another cycle path on the 121? The one I'm thinking of is where the 3035 meets the 121 (Samoeng crossroads 1269?) and the 121 goes round CM, on the west side, we are south of Doi Suthep. The cycle path ends WELL before the Suthep Road. The 121 continues north but that is outside my territory as I usally turn right into CM Town there.
  20. It was my understanding as well that colonoscopy is a separate (and expensive at 38k? could be wrong) item. I pay probably 9500 I think from memory and would definitely have remembered if they stuck a tube up my b*m (with or without the anesthetic). I want at least a meal and flowers.
  21. Never been a fan of this crypto stuff, and have watched smugly as the price collapses. Too much of it seems to have been used by criminals, a big no-no in itself (and a good reason to regulate if not ban it, money laundering is illegal) , and then there are the horror stories of people losing their hard drive where the file was stored, thus losing everything.... But the methodolgy always struck as me as wrong. First, it requires so much computing power to generate the coins (as we see in this article), but apparently only a certain number per hour can be TRADED (I've never looked at the details, but compared to currency exchange which is millions per hour this makes it nonsense) - and last, apparently there is a finite number of coins that CAN be generated! Fairy gold.
  22. Thanks for the useful replies on routes, and also the usual TV stuff of people offering their opinions about how they wouldn't do what I was suggesting - can't remember asking for that... ???? You mean Thai roads are DANGEROUS for cyclists? Hooda fort it ????
  23. Ah found a "Ban Rim" in CM Town just off the Ping, that's a good 10K each way so yes it's good thanks
