Thailand Post Suspends US Parcels as Trump Axes Tax Exemption
It's not only parcels. I was in our local postoffice and they would not accept ANYTHING AT ALL for the US. Not even an ordinary letter to a friend. They apologised but said their computers are not yet programmed to deal with anything and until they are....nothing accepted. Great news for American consumers. They get to go without and save their money.

Russia launches biggest wave of strikes on Ukraine for weeks
I think Trump is in Putins front pocket and there is a convenient access hole in said pocket.

Afghan women barred from Taliban takeover celebration
Why exactly an Afghan woman would want to celebrate the return to power of a bunch if insecure misogynists probably did not occur to the organizers.

Zelensky 'trapped in Trump and Putin vice':
Zelensky can not cede territory to Russia. He does not have the authority to sign away what does not belong to him. It would require a referendum of the Ukrainian people to cede such a huge amount of the country to an aggressive neighbor. A referendum can not be conducted while fighting is going on. It would require a ceasefire which would have to be agreed by both sides. Zelenskys best bet on his meeting with Trump would be to out ' fluff ' putin. Praise him to high heaven with ever utterence. Maximum humility and obsequious flattering. He needs to get Trumps sympathy by all means possible as painful as it might be to Zelensky.

7eleven
Technology is fine when it works better than cash like swipe cards .....instant and the card is lightweight. But too many times in Big C I have been stuck behind someone trying to pay via their phone and making a pigs ear of it until we all get directed to another till while a supervisor is called to sort out the problem. Not to mention on three occasions when the computers were down and people with full trollys had to go home empty handed because only cash was being accepted.

Do you now need a tax clearance cert when flying out of Thailand
I seemed that way to me too but thought it best to check as I don't do much social networking and might have missed something here in the land of moving goal posts. Cheers .

Do you now need a tax clearance cert when flying out of Thailand
I thought not. I heard it had been muted but not actually happening yet. However someone I met claimed otherwise base on something he read here. https://unionspace.co.th/personal-tax-return-tax-clearance-certificate.php#:~:text=If you're a foreigner, the immigration officer on exit. Don't want to turn up at the airport without all my ducks in a row. Thanks in advance for any replies or recent experiences.

Emirates Airlines stopover time
That being the case, nothing to be gained from changing our flights to the slightly later one after all. Shoot for the first and if miss it get on the second , albeit not in seats of our choice.

Emirates Airlines stopover time
Yes. Comfort vs convenience. Would I be correct in thinking that if for whatever reason I missed my connection , I could get on the next flight which leaves 1.35 hours after ( subject to availability ) without incurring any financial extra ? If so just shoot for the original flight and if we make it , all well and good , but if not just take the next flight. Wife does not relish hanging around there longer than necessary.

Emirates Airlines stopover time
The very thought of longhaul flights makes me nauseous. One other reason I am giving up EVA. Their late departure time from Heathrow ( around 10.00 pm ) is a pain. I was dropped off at the airport by a passing relative at 2.00 pm and had to wait 8 hours in an uncomfortable seat before the 12 hour flight. I vowed never again. If I were flying EVA again I would just pay for hotel nearby and check out around 7.00 pm and to hell with the money.

Emirates Airlines stopover time
Yes. I might change the flight to give us an extra hour in Dubai to be on the safe side. Alone I would go for it but with wifey along maybe a couple of hours in Dubai might be a safer bet even if it does mean arriving later at Heathrow. Buses still running at 8.00 pm so not such a big problem.

Emirates Airlines stopover time
Thanks for that. Very informative. Normally I wouldn't care but my wife ( 61 ) decided to come with me and she is a bit slower. I'll pack some roller skates in my hand luggage for her and slap an ' on tow ' card on her back.

Emirates Airlines stopover time
When I was younger it was ok but last trip I found the economy seat uncomfortable. Plus as the non stop options are fewer the flight was chocker block and the service not as good as formerly . Even the British Airways non stop flight ( pre covid ) had more comfortable seats and was less crowded.

Emirates Airlines stopover time
I usually fly with EVA but was a bit disappointed with them last trip so I will be flying to London with Dubai stopover on Emirates in September. The tranfer time between landing and onward flight is 1 hour and 15minutes. I never thought about it when booking but have since learned that Dubai airport is very big and was worried that the connecting time is too short. Anyone flown this route recently and experienced any problems ?
