This^^^^ is the best route & I used it last year in Thailand for four months worked perfectly No need to pay roaming charges just bought AT&T lowest unlimited talk & text $26 a month on auto pay While in Thailand using wifi calling could call USA free & receive all texts from banks & credit cards etc no prob. When I called USA family they always said "Oh thought you were in Thailand" ????

Probably best because as you have seen it would be loaded against you at your age. Add to that your probably better off cherry picking the few good months a year Thailand actually has. Recent years have only gotten worse & worse pollution & temperature wise during the bad months. Now they also start to realize govt assisted artificially low energy rates were not sustainable. Should have been obvious when we always saw fuel prices comparable to elsewhere in the world why was electricity so cheap? But as you say most ex-patriots get free or can get free healthcare in their own countries + many other benefits if needed compared to ZERO in Thailand So yeah go enjoy 3+ cool months with good air & climate a year & smile ????

Actually the USA has something quite similar to UK ..... in Medicare + Medicaid if you qualify. Which means you do not have savings or income above xxx amount. So yes USA can be expensive if you have the money but it is nice to know unlike Thailand a US citizen will always be cared for with or without the funds My wife & I do the same as you though & spend 3 months a year in Thailand when the weather is best

Sorry to disappoint no pity party here...most polluted or not it is a real cancer hole at the moment. We do own a home in Thailand but since 2016 we only live there 3 good months a year so it is not a problem for us personally Still sad to see such a state offered to others though Enjoy
