Son and Friend Brutally Assault Father Over Drug Money
mania replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Doesn't matter....In Thailand pretty much any & all drug including alcohol or even nicotine dependencies have at some point escalated to this type of abusive behavior It speaks more to the entitled attitudes many seem to exhibit here. Funny how they also like to show how much respect they have for their elders & on the other hand abuses such as this occur But yes even in our village we have seen young druggies of all substances steal from grandparents to pay for their habits -
Ah yes I forgot he also had the clot busting drug but due to time between onset it did not work do they went in thru the groin & luckily retrieved it in his brain. I saw the picture of the retrieved clot. Barley larger than a BB looked like they use the same catheter used to install stents etc Pretty impressive work I thought & he was lucky that hospital was equipped to handle that IMHO
-
Yes maybe but realize it included going in thru groin to retrieve a clot in the brain. After which he regained normal speech & movement of his right side I think most western countries would be well over 100k USD But I think many expats also get a false sense of prices because of minor interactions/diagnostic tests etc done in Thailand But when the the price is the price. Whether that means the difference of walking/speaking again due to stroke or life or death due to bypass etc it will be a little late to complain/negotiate a better deal or even go hospital shopping

I agreed with many who say insure because even if you can self insure once you use it then it is depleted But...While that is true, when I consider further I realize even with insurance a deficit will happen Meaning if I have insurance & have a heart attack & need a stent it seems more than likely the next year they will try to price me out of the policy. At that point if I try to buy at another insurance company coronary problem is preexisting & thus priced again out of reach or not available at all. Also as Sheryl said double tough as many are retiring to Thailand at a 60+ age & not seen as a good risk to insurers to begin with I know someone who just had a stroke due to a clot moving to his brain. A CM hospital took him in no insurance but would not do anything in this time sensitive event (he already couldn't speak) till funds were shown. Luckily his step daughter could handle the problem & they did retrieve the clot from his brain & he is 100% ok now To their credit the hospital performed well. The price was 600k baht & involved 3 day stay

Can you say what you were paying per year & what the renewal amount is? Seems Thai insurers will always eventually price you out of their book as you age Maybe try International like April MH Int? I don't have the current quotes but in 2021 for your age it was $2380 or 73,780 baht per year for $500,000 USD/Euro coverage You can try Wim at AA Insurance He always gets right back to me when I inquire Cell Phone 0971890190 AA Insurance Brokers Co., Ltd.

I think In some ways yes & others no Yes change from rice, corn etc to a more varied profitable crops that differ from the masses But no never sell out. There are places in this world that any major problem like wars, or even simple things like shipping strikes & those places are empty shelves at the markets in 5 days One thing Thailand has going for itself is the people won't starve. Food is useful for more than business ???? -
14-year-old boy commits suicide after attacking his grandfather with a knife
mania replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
And that is the problem Regardless of what one thinks of drinking or drugs the Thai youth did not need yet another reason to sit around doing nothing but getting high till they need money they don't have. Then needing to do things to get that money & that is usually not working for it. Thailand needs more heroes not more zeros -
It is the only place any real change will ever come from in Thailand The older generations are well trained from birth to kowtow to every authority figure whether that be corrupt politicians bad teachers corrupt police doctors who don't know or care even drunk monks So yes thank gawd for the wishful thinking that can become change in Thailand because that is the only place change will ever sprout

The future of masking -- will it ever end?
mania replied to ultramarine's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
I often wonder what long term risks there are to children's lung development. I mean I am a athletic type & when I wore a mask in public I could definitely feel the restriction So take kids trying to run & play or just the fact their lungs are still developing & makes one wonder -
Yes my wife got hers in just a couple days via EMS. Also you can make an appointment online which makes the whole process very quick & painless If someone was in a bigger rush you can get it same day if you apply in Bangkok & pay more

Ah yes I can see it now.....Kor Tort but we want to let you know this is a External & Internal massage technique Hard to believe they think this will fly at all ever. Add to that the deleted CCTV & Thailand Tourism Board has yet another glowing review for the perspective future of tourism to Thailand

Well it is only you that is claiming I said all 17k ,,,Instead what I actually said is one recommended it & the other said it was silly So no not all cardiologist but in my case 50% did such... so there is that logic ???? IN MY CASE You have already been given links but https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2021/heart-stent.html
-
No actually...Sorry if my description lead you to believe it was that type of "specialty sport clinic" It was in fact the largest Hospital in the State. Not some "commercial establishment known for that sort of thing" In their cardiology department they have "Sports Cardiology program" that looks at cardio problems in athletes. The main cardiologist at the hospital thought I was a good candidate for the program due to my history in sports. That aside I never said all or most doctors I said sorry in my experience "Doctors will & do often push tests & procedures that are not needed both in Thailand & the USA " I have actual experiences in both countries of doctors pushing unnecessary procedures/operations. The Doctor & Kidney specialist at what is probably the largest hospital chain in Thailand did just that. Thankfully I flew back to the USA where they laughed at the idea of that operation & 8 years later I am still problem free As for Stenting in general even the AARP has said as much "doctors assumed that stents would help with other blockages due to heart disease. " But "But that thinking was turned on its head in 2007, when a study in the New England Journal of Medicine of over 2,000 people with heart disease found that those who had a stent implanted as a preventive measure had similar rates of heart attack and death as those who just took medication." https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2021/heart-stent.html In any case ...again I am only relaying my own experiences not theories But it seems quite disingenuous to claim these things do not happen at "real" doctors offices/hospitals Anyway that is all I have to say on this subject & sorry to the OP for any distraction I repeat my original reply that I think it important for him to get a second opinion & not inform the second tester of anything the first claimed

Well actually it is true that most do have occluded arteries & there are articles showing even in young healthy men/soldiers as I mentioned As for you saying doctors will not even do a angiogram unless clear indications for it again in my experience not true. Although here in the USA My experience last August....I am a fit athletic 66 year old. Cycle 8-10k miles a year. Low BP. low Cholesterol..Have had psvt or pvc's & pac's for over 20 years but recently had a long run of pvc & pac . So went to a Heart specialist with a sports cardio clinic. Had me do a 16 min stress test at very high output 165BPM on cycle with echo's following Showed heart was excellent structurally Then said well just to be sure I would like to either do a angiogram or a CTA scan with dye I asked which would he choose if it were his choice. He said the Angio because that way if he see's anything he can just stent it I chose the CTA but later changed my mind as my father lost his kidneys to CTA dye Went to another cardiologist that could not believe the previous cardio ran me on that stress test at those outputs for that amount of time. He said there is no way I needed a angio Instead I have requested a Calcium score just to check later this week which is almost a year later I know it is not the same but can at least give me a indication. If bad I will go from there While I would like to believe no doctor is business driven I am sorry to say in my life I have found different This is no slight against you as I know your in the medical profession & often I appreciate reading your responses here. But yes in my case I have not found what you said above to be true. Doctors will & do often push tests & procedures that are no needed both in Thailand & the USA
-
Yes of course & most like you would hopefully have improved your diet & lifestyle .......after you already had 2 previous stents ???? But what I was saying was directed at probably who you were before your two stents
