  1. Well yes that is one option...whether or not it is easier is debatable ..Having lived in Thailand for many years ...now that we don't we prefer to not step foot in Immigration if at all possible 😉 That aside we also have plans to do some banking things that do not go easy on a tourist visa if at all. Sent an email to them will see how they respond on Monday
  2. Same as my wife...came to USA in 2007 allowed 6 months same as you said no cash etc etc Then got two year visa... after that a 10 year perm residence visa ...one year into that she took test for citizenship & got her US Passport/citizenship Social Security etc etc Wish it was reciprocated in Thailand
  3. I know right? Look at what I just posted I am really even more confused than ever hehehe 😉
  4. After further investigation........ Actually going to the Thai E visa site where we got last years visa from... Official Website of Thailand Electronic Visa (thaievisa.go.th) It shows that while it is still way more expensive to choose visiting/staying with Thai family vs non Thai it is still quite different It seems like they have confused visiting a Thai Family with the requirements for yearly extension based on marriage? I will have to try contacting on a working day. To stay with non-Thai family residing in Thailand (more than 60 days) Financial evidence: amount of no less than 30,000 THB, e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter To stay with Thai family residing in Thailand (more than 60 days) Financial evidence showing monthly income of no less than 40,000 THB or having the current balance of 400,000 THB, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings
  5. Just wondering if anyone has info on this We always visit our home in Thailand for 3 months a year My wife is Thai & I always get the Non-Imm Type O visiting family 90 day visa It has always been these requirements listed below For the purpose of visiting family (Type “O”) - When submitting application include: - Your actual passport - valid for at least six more months (18 more months if applying for multiple-entry visa) and passport must have some blank visa pages - include a copy of the "picture/information" page of the passport - Two recent passport-type photos - Copy U.S. Permanent Resident card or long-term U.S. Visa (does not apply to U.S. passport holders) - Completed visa application [download] - Recent bank statement showing at least $700 US - Copy of airline tickets or e-ticket and... To visit as a spouse of a Thai nationality, Fiance and Fiancee are not eligible for this category. - A copy of a valid and effective marriage certificate. - A copy of Thai passport /or Thai I.D. of the spouse. - A letter from the spouse verifying that the applicant and the spouse are still married and the purpose to visit Thailand. But today as I get ready for our yearly trip & visit the US LA site I see the requirements have changed & quite a bit But what is odd is if your visiting a Non Thai Family show $1000 but if visiting Thai family show $15,000 ? Non-Immigrant Type “O” Visiting family - (thaiembassy.org) Required documents to upload in the system (Large and clear JPEG or PDF format) to stay with non-Thai family residing in Thailand (more than 60 days): Passport Biodata Page or Travel Document (Must be valid within 6 months from travel date) Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months Document indicating current location (driving license, bank statement, or proof of stay) A copy of a recent saving or checking bank statement with an ending balance of no less than $1,000 per person or 2,000 per family that shows the applicant's name and date. In case of submitting a family bank statement, proof of relationship (i.e. birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be provided Personal details of a family in Thailand, e.g. valid government-issued ID card, Passport and Thai visa page, work permit or stay permit in Thailand Proof of relationship to a family in Thailand (immediate family only), e.g. A copy of marriage certificate/birth certificate/certificate of adoption Required documents to upload in the system (Large and clear JPEG or PDF format) to stay with Thai family residing in Thailand (more than 60 days): Passport Biodata Page or Travel Document (Must be valid within 6 months from travel date) Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months Document indicating current location (driving license, bank statement, or proof of stay) Recent bank statement showing the applicant's name and ending balance of no less than $15,000 or proof of monthly income of not less than $1,500/month) along with the current bank statement showing incoming income Personal details of a family in Thailand, e.g. valid Thai ID card or Thai Passport Proof of relationship to a family in Thailand (immediate family only), e.g. A copy of marriage certificate / birth certificate / certificate of adoption Anyone recently get a 90 day visa based on Married to a Thai know anything about this? Also does it matter which I choose since in reality we stay with each other in our home not family Thai or non-Thai Lastly I am wondering if it is all just better these days to go Tourist visa 60 days then extend? I have always done Non-Imm Type O as it was better for banking etc Any Help Appreciated
  6. Sadly I think those that claim "oh its nothing I have a filter & mask" Just have no option so they put a heavy coat of lipstick on this pig. Sadly once lung cancer among other health problems is realized they will truly have no options. The recent death of the young doctor Dr Krittai Tanasombatkul in Chiang Mai of lung cancer although having never smoked is sadly telling.
  7. I cycle mainly further north & the burning is always at night. Early mornings we come thru & see the work done yet still smoldering.
  8. They are just as cheap at Walmart in USA 75" runs $448 / 16,461 Thai Baht
  9. Maybe related to Sergeant Garcia from Zorro?
  10. That you were a smoker from the age of 12 may explain your current tolerance for smoke 😉 Trust me your comfort does not bother me at all. I only mentioned your filter picture to point out to those that do value their health that your filter is a good visual of what the inside of lungs likely look like. I need not argue the obvious 😉 I maintain it is totally up 2 you enjoy !
  11. Not sure when the last time was that you tried this but it no longer works (even for services/money to family etc) The reason is Wise now uses yet another service called PLAID Plaid is a financial services company based in San Francisco, California. The company builds a data transfer network that powers fintech and digital finance products. Plaid's product, a technology platform, enables applications to connect with users’ bank accounts So it depends on if your bank even allows plaid in the first place. If it does you now need to allow yet another app to access your info & make the transfer to Wise. Wise then does there usual thing & yes in seconds can be done If your bank does not allow PLAID or you don't want yet another possible data leak your trans will take 3-5 days
  12. As well it should as those who smoke of course should not complain. But everything else you mentioned makes zero sense & is just justifying some form of ignoring a problem At a restaurant if a cigar smoker sat next to you & started puffing away & blowing it in your face you would say...oh that is nothing I use to live in a snowy climate? Again UP2U it is your life your lungs your health spend it as you wish 😉
  13. From the article In the midst of the brawl, the dog, a 2-3 year old black and white male, was seen drinking water and watching the fight. 🤣
  14. Recently read about a long time cyclist...I think he was originally from Austria? Lived in Prachuap Khiri Khan killed recently by a woman who said he swerved...This being a 30+ years road cyclist I doubt very much he randomly swerved or if so surely not into traffic unless she flat out hit him. Sadly his side of the story will not be heard Same in your case I know your worried about the kid but truth is as I'm sure you know getting hit from behind by any kind o vehicle doing any speed over 5mph with weight is going to seriously damage or kill you. I had a friend in the early morning hours in Chiang Mai get hit from behind while stopped by a drunk on a full sized motorcycle. Luckily it was not a center hit but still his injuries took months for him to recover. We also cycle 3 months a year in Thailand but further in the country where it is pretty good on the roads with vehicles often times moving too far over that I sometimes worry for the oncoming ....Take Care
  15. That is basically what they sent me years ago...a pic of me speeding? in my truck & you could see my face clearly. Fine was not bad 500 baht I thought it would be funny to send them a pic of 500 baht but thought they may not get the joke 😛 So paid up 😉 Comparing to home country fine + rise in insurance premiums 500 baht was a good deal I guess
  16. True that method will also remove what is in the air. It may burn up fan motors sooner but in any case works....... But a bigger concern is just seeing these used filters & imagining what is going in your lungs, because yes your fan sucks but so do you. This is basically a mirror of what your lung is also filtering INSIDE your home no less. Always amazing why folks tolerate such bad air. The world is a big place with clean air readily available. Yes of course not everyone can afford to leave but many can & don't......Famous Thai proverb....Up2U 😉
  17. Classic Thailand.....Only Make others pay 😉 That anyone other than a Thai ever invests in Thailand is beyond me 🙄 To add insult to injury those 4 Star hotels are employing at least 50 Thai citizens each 555 EDIT: Note I am not saying minimum wages are fair in Thailand I am saying this policy is yet just another racist BS move
  18. A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss 😉 You just slip out the back, Jack Make a new plan, Stan You don't need to be coy, Roy Just get yourself free Hop on the bus, Gus You don't need to discuss much Just drop off the key, Lee And get yourself free 🙂 Kidding aside we did back leave in 2016...It was great in Thailand while we lived there ..... we got tired of the things you mentioned & others we left.....now it is great where we live. Perhaps some day we will tire of this but actually so far so good. No worries....Life is usually more than one place 😉 Good Luck to you in your new spot!
  19. Actually that bike is quite a porker.... *WEIGHT 10.4 kg in size M, without pedals - 23.4 LB That is going to sting going up Doi Suthep 😉 That aside Van Rysel is making some good but expensive nice bikes now RCR & have sponsored a Pro World Tour Team AG2R OP you should do as another poster suggested & look at used especially in CM there are many Try a aluminum road bike with rim brakes for light weight & a great deal....Like a Trek ALR or even carbon like Giant TCR etc
  20. Although levels of lovastatin vary in the product, 2.4 g of red yeast rice daily may contain about 4.8 mg of lovastatin, or 0.2% of the total dose.
  21. Unlike Thailand USA sells homes to many countries citizens so the market is not dependent on just them. (then again US allows even folks on a green card to get a SS# & work. Because the US is not stupid enough to ignore the possibility of taxing immigrants & citizens alike 😉 ) As a retired General Contractor I can tell you Prices on homes rarely decrease...They can go sideways for even quite awhile but as labor & materials continue to increase so does everything else. Of course prices do decrease in areas that have become ghettos but that is not for most
  22. With Fractional reserve banking they don't need no stinkin small profits 😂
  23. Actually you take the injection every two weeks so you could stop & that is the duration. But really it is well tolerated & based on something some folks have naturally Peter Attia who is quite well known in this field has been on it himself for many years Is it even available in Thailand though? Worth watching this video 😉
