  1. Exactly! Great post & great attitude ???? Good Luck
  2. I would take the 17 no prob with what year this is. Just happy to skip the first 16 years of life and only have one year left till legal age. It would be the cherry on top if I could take with me what I have learned in this life to that 17 yr old body but if not no prob either ????
  3. Actually it should (if really understood) make people perk up & live the life they want to live. Not put anything on hold. For instance when I told my sister we are in the home stretch I also say even if we had 20 left that would be the home stretch & not much at that. Most of us clearly remember Y2k well that was 23 years ago Knowing this at least for myself it makes me realize while yes maybe we live once (not sure about that ???? ) but for sure we dont live forever so lets not waste our homes stretch . Instead lets LIVE
  4. My sister is 70 & I always tell her we are in the home stretch ...but she continues to work at a medical office. I always say isn't there something more you want to do? She says she wouldn't know what t do if she & her husband didn't work. ???? I think its a slave mentality but then again to each their own. But yes OP I agree & tell folks at best reach 83 & I believe that is the number that SS USA uses in max calcs. Because when you do a compare of starting at 62,66 or 70 & they all pretty much wash at 83
  5. Far Left usual BS alert That aside so your saying the flawless past decade of Iron Dome is suddenly faulty? Heck even the JDL is posting here again after almost two years break
  6. This has Netanyahu Black Flag written all over it Israel has had Iron Dome since 2011 never more than a random rocket falling short of populated areas...Now this? Something is as usual in Israel
  7. Oh No We Can't ???? Fool us once shame on you Fool us twice shame on us Fool us a third time? No F'ing Way ????
  8. Well first off we will see what we see come Jan 2024 & if we are caught up in the new tax laws at all but... Fortunately Social Security does provide an Official benefit verification letter to all SS recipients & can be downloaded from your SS account. If worse came to worse that would be proof of what your SS is per month
  9. Well I guess you will find out if that is true once you apply to change your bank Or better yet go ask SCB first But once you decide Use this form & read near bottom about changing banks https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ssa-1199-op107.pdf
  10. May I ask where you "learned" that? The reason that account requires the recipient to physically come in & as you say trans to an account with windows/ATM etc is because if not & the actual recipient dies someone else could continue to drain account monthly. So having never heard of anything changing I wondered where you hear that. I mean I imagine even if another bank was allowed it would have the same restrictions to move the deposit after physical presence proof. I think this is why many still just deposit in the USA then trans if needed. Also because should yo be traveling etc & needed some of those funds in the Thai deposited SS account you could not reach them
  11. Uh Oh...This seems suggestive that when they arrived the door was not locked then ? That aside Thailand was already scrambling to ease the other event of a Chinese national being killed in that mall shooting.
  12. That you spend less than Part B or $170 a month to have insurance in Thailand is quite good. I could go for that ???? But the prices I have seen are more like $3-400 & that will only go up as I age If you mean less than $170 a month for small medical visits etc well yes that is great till/when/if something big happens. In our State the property tax break is better.... 80k off per couple initially then another 80k at 60 & 80k at 70years old My wife & I are athletic/active & love both places a lot. Thailand can be a bit tougher as you said with smog & heat too at times is not great for outdoor sport types. But while living there I would do laps at the pool early on those days & that was great One thing Thailand really has is so much to do etc. I mean the coffee stops alone while out exercising is a real treat for us
  13. We didn't so much change our minds but the coup/junta looked like it had legs this time already in power 2 years in 2016 (they did have legs in hindsight staying till 2023) plus a incident at the major Thai hospital kind of decided it for us in 2016. After 7+ years we decided to head back to our US home. It was a bit weird at first & had us wondering if we made the right choice. Of course we still traveled back every year for 2-3 months (except 20/21 covid years) as we kept our Thai home. We have a great place here in the US own outright so no strain there. But to be honest we often consider moving back to Thailand & especially now that Junta seems to have left? but.... Now we wonder & will see what happens with all that taxation talk Jan 2024. I don't think it will amount to much but if it did that would seal it & we would remain living here & with our 3 months a year to Thailand routine. One thing which is really my main driver when considering moving back to Thailand is while I love both places as does my wife .. I am going to be 67 & do worry that in the future should something happen to me that is a big job for my wife to handle on her own selling our home as she would move back to our Thai home then.. but would need to handle so any things here before leaving the US permanently . So that is something I often consider& wonder about Anyway we will once again be at out Thai home in a few weeks for our 3 months & will enjoy it of course ????
  14. I guess it depends on your age & what State you live in In my home State they give a big Property Tax valuation deduction if your property is used as your primary residence Then when you reach 60 they give you another big one & then again at 70 so my property taxes are quite low on a nice home in one of the top five COL States Then for medical of course you have Medicare at 65 pretty much pays most things. Yes if your income is over XXX you pay Part B $170 a month but...If you are below a certain income level you then get Medicaid free on top of the Medicare which does pay for everything including your part B & part D (drugs) plus you never have a co-payment In Thailand yes I pay no property tax ...then again aside from condo we had in Chiang Mai I don't really ever own any property in Thailand. We do however have a nice country home in my wife's name of course that we pay no tax on Medical in Thailand? Well for myself not even close to USA price wise once above benefits are counted. I guess if your paying cash for everything then yes Thailand medical is cheaper but Thai & even international medical insurance n Thailand gets pretty prohibitive after 65
  15. One wonders if they even consider how much investment for next year has even now been put on hold till this is all clarified? Which in Thailand could take a very long time. Penny wise pound foolish it seems ????
  16. In his defense I think it is just the Demobidencans who think that 555 ????
  17. Sadly that sounds like the tax it all & we will sort it later approach many feared But.....Even this from article which in itself is equally bad Jeez I can imagine them trying to suss that out....Interest on your savings was income so we will tax it But again what seems the worse part of all this is how it would be implemented. It seems only one way would be possible....Tax all incoming transfers & then let the foreigners prove it should not be taxed
  18. I have not seen all the recent ones but the Bangkok exceeded one is very nice ???? Your gaining a lot of experience in your video skills! One suggestion though is when videoing close ups like facing yourself or others like @8:40 in Bangkok video.....switch to a wider aspect ratio. It will open up the view. If using a go pro just tap the frame icon ,,,,,if using a phone depends on model but basically just zoom out a bit ???? PS: At the end of the day....That was a good walk! Good for you not paying that crazy tuk tuk price! ????
  19. Bangkok Bank has one now for folks 65-100 (but no coverage on motorcycles) https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/My-Family-and-Me/Bancassurance/BKI/PA-1st/PA-1st-Senior https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/My-Family-and-Me/Bancassurance/BKI/PA-1st
  20. Same pricing as world markets aka:Spot Price But this article may be written a day or so before
  21. I am not saying dont plan but....I have seen too many go too far chasing & in your own words "even 12 hour shifts which is killing me " Then they die chasing...But everyone has their own level of risk tolerance.
  22. "It is what it is" helps me often when I can't believe some cr@p I'm seeing or going thru ???? Also "Everyone needs a hobby" when I see people killing themselves one way or another ????
  23. Wow! That is serious money now at $12,404 a year. Pretty amazing considering your only two small claims in 12 years. Good Luck I am starting to think if possible you need a new company or self insure (if possible)
