Pretty sure I recognise at least some of the posters decrying this as also saying Thailand's Covid regulations are stupid and we should go back to "normal" like our superior western countries. Welcome to TVF. Of course, let's just bash a major religious and cultural belief and ignore the hypocrisy, much better.

Bangkok to bury all overhead cables underground within 3 years
josephbloggs replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I have no idea what percentage - I haven't done a survey. But I have seen many areas done: Long stretches of Sukhumvit, Silom, Petchaburi, Asoke, Ratchada, Phaholyothin, Phaya Thai, and other places. Lots of videos out there if you are genuinely interested (I guess you're not though as I detect a lot of negativity in your questions). -
Bangkok to bury all overhead cables underground within 3 years
josephbloggs replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Must have taken you ages to come up with that one, well done. So can you tell me what your issue is with the progress made in the last three years and why it shouldn't continue for the next three? Will all cables be underground in three years? No. But judging by progress in the last three years they will get a fair way. So why are they burying their heads??? Love to hear your insight. -
Did you receive them yet?

Khlong Ong Ang is really nice, especially Friday - Sunday when it is a walking street. Lots of food, stalls, drinks, and a really cool vibe. Easy to get to as there is an MRT station just a couple of minutes walk away. Highly recommended. It even got a UN award for the restoration. https://www.tatnews.org/2021/03/award-winning-khlong-ong-ang-walking-street-isnt-your-average-walking-street/

Airport Staff Criticized for Crowding Blackpink’s Lisa
josephbloggs replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Eh? She is not complaining about it. The article is about the unprofessional behaviour of the airport staff, no one is complaining about fame or having their picture taken. Odd comment. -
Well sorry to jump in here, I have been driving here for 25 years and I have seen over 100 vehicles on various motorways in flames. All of them caused by faulty maintenance. Oh wait, sorry, what I meant to say was I haven't seen a single one, not one. Safety First must be very special, or he is making stuff up to reinforce his prejudices.

Microsleep again! Thai driver on way home does this to his van
josephbloggs replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Yeah absolutely, it is only Thais that fall asleep at the wheel. The 53 fatal crashes per year (and 350+ crashes in total) attributed to it in the UK are obviously fake as they are non-Thai. Just more unjustified bashing of an entire nation, with some smug superiority thrown in, well done. https://www.actuarialpost.co.uk/article/quarter-of-fatal-crashes-due-to-falling-asleep-at-the-wheel-15162.htm -
Definitely not. They are frogs.

Speeding Fine M7 Chonburi
josephbloggs replied to keithsimmonds's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Mine always come to my work, even though the car is registered at my home address and the work permit I supplied when I bought it is a digital work permit which doesn't include a company address. No idea either why or how that happens. -
Speeding Fine M7 Chonburi

Really? Which part of this is a question? "The gantries show speed limits, they don't show the speed of your vehicle as it passes!" -
Would you come back to let us know how they are after you receive them? I'm also looking for super high quality hotel style towels but too wary of ordering online as I can't pick them up, feel them etc. Especially considering that company has not received a single review. Would be great to know if you're happy with them.

So you know several people who have had accidents that weren't their fault and they were told that because the accident would not have happened had they not been in Thailand then it was therefore their fault? Really?? Sorry I do not believe you. Please post details and what was said. I have personal first hand experience of the police taking my side when a Thai tried to blame me for an accident that wasn't my fault. Thonglor police too!

Front airbags won't go off for a rear collusion unless extremely severe. A number of years ago I was driving a brand new car (a beloved Subaru Impreza WRX), red plates, only had it a week. Sat in the right hand lane waiting to turn right in to my condo when I was absolutely smashed from behind at high speed by a pick up truck. Sent me several metres up the road, span me 180 degrees and completely crushed the back of my car. The CD in my CD player ended up on the back seat, the tins of tomatoes I had bought and put in a shopping bag behind the driver's seat were completely crushed. Luckily I wasn't hurt. It took six months to repair the car (can't believe they didn't write it off). My airbags did not deploy. I didn't hit the steering wheel so they clearly weren't needed and when I asked about this I was told they were designed not to go off if rear collision unless it is super severe and there's a good reason. Let's say they did go off but the collision had sent me into the oncoming traffic and I was then hit head on by another car - I'd be dead as there would be no airbags, so that is part of the logic when hit from the rear. So they are very intelligently designed. The guy who hit me was blind drunk by the way, tried to blame me saying I had no lights on and wasn't indicating (it was at night - I did have lights on and I always indicate). I also had red plates and you are not supposed to drive with red plates at night, but the police completely took my side.........just a little anecdote for the "they'll always take the side of the Thai" brigade.
