  1. Really? How many people in this thread have ripped someone's face off?
  2. Not as attractive as my wife. I see better on the Skytrain Doesn't look Thai. There are more attractive farmers. Think she's a ladyboy. There we go. That will save a lot of people the bother, we can close this thread now.
  3. Feel free to stand by it. I stand by my assertion that is a company (large or small) is caught cheating taxes and breaking laws they should expect to be punished and should not just be let off in order to not give out a "bad look". If you do that then everyone knows they can act with impunity and Thailand will be too scared to take them to court less it be seen badly. You are aware that there are also two corruption investigations ongoing; one in Thailand and a federal US enquiry that are looking into allegations that Toyota paid several million dollars in an attempt to bribe Supreme Court judges to overturn their tax dodging conviction. https://www.law360.com/articles/1495998?scroll=1&related=1 But yeah, this is bad form by Thailand, Toyota should be let off the hook because, erm, just because.
  4. What are you talking about?? Just more racist anti Thai rubbish with no basis in truth. Yawn.
  5. Because Covid is always going to be with us and we will always need a vaccine for it. If Thailand can produce their own it will save the country million and millions in the long run.
  6. Correct. GM left but that had absolutely nothing to do with "stupid import taxes". It had to do with GM's general demise in this region. The Thai factory used to make Holdens but they killed that brand and also withdrew from many LHD markets. And guess what, they didn't go to Vietnam! You are trying to bring logic against what is just one more general, ignorant, automatic anti-Thai comment in this thread. You may as well urinate into the wind.
  7. So a company can cheat on import duties to the value of 10 billion baht and it should just be waived to show good will. That would show the world that companies can come and work in Thailand and just do what they want because they will be let off. Brilliant. Have you read the detailed court verdict? Have you read the cases of both sides? Where do you get your information from that says this is the tax department being short sighted and dumb? Or are you just saying that because it is Thailand and Thailand must be wrong? Toyota have already said they will comply and pay up. I haven't read the detailed judgement or the detailed cases of either side. I therefore am in no place to make a judgement. And I am sure that is the case for every other poster here. Yet you all jump to the same automatic conclusion that Thailand = wrong.
  8. I thought Swedish Plogging might have been something else entirely. Disappointed.
  9. I see this posted so often on here but it is another TVF myth. They weren't turned down, they were asked for their help. Where does this nonsense come from? https://www.dutchwatersector.com/news/dutch-experts-helped-thai-authorities-to-combat-bangkok-floods https://reliefweb.int/report/thailand/thailand-and-netherlands-will-cooperate-tackling-floods
  10. You could try Lumpini Place Srinakarin. Fairly new, good pool and facilities (it seems, I have never been in). Maybe a two minute walk to Hua Mark ARL for the airport which also connects to MRT and BTS. 24 hour supermarket on your doorstep. And at the end of this year / early next year the yellow line opens and there is a station right outside the condo. Two bedrooms generally around 20k but I see some for 16k or so. https://propertyhub.in.th/en/condo-for-rent/project-lumpini-place-srinakarin-huamark-station
  11. Brilliant, a warrior who wouldn't have the same problem because he would email the CEO with a threat! You're a winner!
  12. Oh, we have an expert! Sorry, you are wrong. There is nothing wrong with the drainage at Suvarnabhumi and we have never seen problems with it. I live in eastern Bangkok and that storm was intense with wind and rain - absolutely not safe to land, it was a huge storm and reports said the heaviest rainfall in 20 years (more than most European cities have in months fell in a few hours) Probably a very good chance of wind shear too. Bangkok has extremely localised storms so DMK 30+ kms away could easily have been dry. Extreme weather happens. Sorry Sherlock.
  13. Man has flight canceled. Yawn. It is not even close to being newsworthy, I really don't get it. And AN are trawling the Nottingham Post for "news" now?
  14. I stayed at this place in Chiang Mai a few years ago when the kids were younger. Amazing place. Every room is a different kind of treehouse. We changed every night. About 30kms outside Chang Mai, pretty remote. Just checked and glad to see it is still going strong and survived Covid.
  15. Yeah, much simpler. I did mine this morning, and two hours later got a text and an email to say it's all approved. Just logged in to the site and it is quite slick. I can see all my details, my toll history, can change payments, all works well. If M-Flow would be useful for you I would give it a another go. For a Thai website it is very clean, clear, and easy to use.
  16. You can do it online but it's a pain and then they have to mail you the device. Easiest way is just to go in to any toll booth office and apply in person and you'll get it there and then (you'll see them just in front of the toll booths and they usually have a few cars parked outside). If memory serves me (it's several years since I did it) you need your car registration book, passport, and you need to put a minimum of 300 baht credit on your Easy Pass to begin with. After that top up using any Thai bank app or doit online.
  17. I've just done the M-Flow registration. It's not that hard. Personal details, car details (make, model, colour), then a selfie of you with your ID (or passport if foreigner), a picture of your car registration, pictures of your car (front, side, back), and credit card details. They deduct one baht from your credit card to check then you're good to go. I assume fees for using M-Flow will just go on my credit card. As others have mentioned Easy Pass Plus is a new upgrade to your Easy Pass that will allow you to use M-Flow and have the fees deducted from your Easy Pass but it seems you will still need to provide the same information as for M-Flow application. For the OP, M-Flow is only available for certain sections of the Ring Road (number 9). Unless you plan on using that a lot I would just stick with your easy pass as it works everywhere, just make sure you stay off the M-Flow lanes at the tolls on the ring road.
  18. Hardly anywhere in Thailand - Bangkok at least - uses wooden scaffolding for large structures. When I moved to Hong Kong in the 90s I was amazed that the skyscrapers were built with bamboo scaffolding. And it is still common. https://www.goldthread2.com/culture/bamboo-scaffolding-why-does-hong-kong-still-use-it-construction/article/3080274 So what is your point? If it is not metal it is not safe??
  19. Atrium is very good although it is a few years since I have been. If you are including buffets though it is hard to beat Trader Vic's, Sunday afternoon at the Anantara Riverside. Free boat from Taksin pier which is a nice trip, the most amazing food and drinks, free flow sparkling wine, wines, beer, and some cocktails. Really lovely if you sit outside, lots of live cooking stations too so your stuff is fresh. 3,300 baht ++. A great boozy afternoon food fest. http://tradervicsbangkok.com/events/
  20. Hence them being caught in Thailand, and then burnt in Thailand. You haven't discovered something new. Just saying.
