  1. just ask them ... that your condo has ev chargers is a good thing ...
  2. no, not anymore... the pea denied our request to install a TOU meter ...
  3. the energy consumption of an electric car, just like a petrol car, depends on many factors: the car model, driving mode, city or highway, flat roads or mountains, sporty or eco driving style, and more. all these factors combined mean that some ev owners pay as little as 0.75 baht per km, while others pay up to 1.50 baht per km (charging at home at 4-5 thb/kwh). however, costs do change if you charge using TOU rates (2.6 thb/kwh) or at DC fast-charging stations (about to 8 - 9 thb/kwh) ...
  4. it's only cheaper if he has a TOU meter. that means electricity is cheaper from 10 pm to 9 am, as well as on weekends and public holidays. however, PEA has stopped installing new additional TOU meters for electric cars in recent months because the system has been used "illegally." an electric car doesn't need to be charged every day, it depends on usage and battery size. right now, i only charge mine once a week to around 60% (which gives me about 330 km of range). for longer day trips, i charge it to 100% the night before ..
  5. agree with you on that! but the thing is, electric cars that can only charge on a single phase are usually in the lower price range and have smaller batteries (around 50 kwh). at a charging speed of 3.6 kw, they can recharge about 70% overnight in 10 hours, which is usually more than enough. in the end, everyone has to decide for themselves which "charging profile" their wallbox should cover ...
  6. some electric vehicles can only charge ac using a single phase, which means that with a 3-phase wallbox (11 kw), only about 3.6 kw actually goes into the car. the byd sealion 7, however, supports ac 3-phase charging at 11 kw. if i'm not mistaken, using a 3-phase wallbox with just one phase reduces the charging power by about two-thirds also. my house has a 3-phase power supply. at first, i considered installing a single-phase wallbox since 7 kw would be more than enough for me. but my electrician pointed out that while balancing the three phases is possible, it wouldn’t be ideal. so, i looked into a 3-phase 11 kw/ 16a wall charger solution and found that the extra costs were only a few thousand baht. i've only had my wall charger for a few days now (so i don’t have much experience yet), but both the installation and the app work well, so far so good ... being able to charge at home so easily and conveniently is amazing... now all that's missing is a solar system to complete the cycle ... 5555 there are wall chargers ranging from a few thousand baht to tens of thousands ... the choice is yours ...
  7. thanks for your response! it looks like you went very well-prepared with all documents ... maybe try a different tax office or the main TRD office in your province ... good luck! btw, in more than 10 years, my family (4 separate tax filings) has never had to submit a "bank statement" to the TRD, only the bank documents of the withholding tax ...
  8. the sealion 7 comes with just one ventilated wireless charger. how does the built-in sim card work? i asked my byd dealer to replace my useless sim card (from singapore) because the connection keeps failing most of the time.
  9. not sure, maybe it was just a misunderstanding ... the easiest way to get a TIN is to request the refund form the withholding tax (15%) of your thai bank account. for that you need a (free) document / statement from your bank. my guess, the tax office probably just asked you for this document, which is a reason for the tax office to give you a TIN and for activate your online account ...
  10. your reliable source for this claim is .... thanks a lot for your clarification.
  11. it was the same for us since it was our first ev too ... after a few weeks, everything will feel completely natural ... you will get use to the smooth, comfortable driving with plenty of power, no more turning off the engine just to run into 7/11... and so on! my wife is already thinking about getting a second one ... 555
  12. i've had my sealion 7 for about seven weeks now, and it meets my needs while living up to my expectations. the software could use some improvements, but i'm confident future updates will refine many aspects ... i've tested charging with different providers, and most of the time, it was smooth sailing. i did encounter a few minor hiccups, but nothing major. i'm excited for my upcoming long road/hoiday trip (2,000–4,000 km) without charging concerns, because they are penty of chargers everywhere ... for my wife, i've adjusted all the vehicle settings to make driving feel almost identical to her petrol car. for her, the key features are climate control, seat memory, "gear and P" selection, and starting or stopping the car ... so far so good ... wishing you lots of fun and a great drive with your sealion 7 ...
  13. trolling ... going to a bar every evening also your first time doing that after visiting thailand a few times already?
  14. "How does this not fit (in your view) within the gift rules?" don't ask us (aseannow members), ask the TRD ... but hey, it's up to you ... do whatever makes you happy ...
  15. maybe you're right, maybe not... but as we all can agree, global banking and tax systems are becoming stricter, making it harder to evade taxes to get away without paying taxes at all. if thailand gets serious about collecting taxes from foreign tax residents, the first step could be, when someone renews their annual permit, they'll need a tax clearance document. something like that is more likely to happen in the future ....
  16. can you please explain the terms and conditions for "gifting within the law"? ideally, this explanation should be supported by a reputable tax lawyer or one of the major law firms. defining gift tax law by an asennow member doesn't seem like a reliable source to me ... i can imagine that wealthy and influential thai people fully take advantage of this gift option ... but they definitely cover all their bases with a tax lawyer and have probably already negotiated with the tax office ... this is a league where we foreigners are not allowed or able to play ...
  17. or you are going to ask for the bank withholding tax ... TRD can not refuse that and therefore have to issue you an TIN number .... (my home bank's did require my thailand TIN as well ...)
  18. any reliable source for that? what rules are under review? thanks ...
  19. ikea might want to keep its good reputation and avoid opening a store in the family-friendly holiday destination of pattaya ...
  20. this man killed a suspect... probably not his first victim... good he is gone, one less piece of trash in the world!
  21. any reliable source for your claim (not later) ... thanks 🙏
  22. no need to teach me ... i wish everyone who tries the gift- route and wearing rosa sunglasses good luck ... teaching the TRD what is tax avoidance and what is tax evasions, that will be fun to watch ...
  23. not my personal experience in 10+ years, including this year ...
  24. since you seem well-informed, please enlighten us all on the requirements for the thai revenue department to recognize something as a tax-free gift rather than a way to evade taxes. thanks for sharing your first-hand knowledge ...
  25. more than 20 years ago, there have been rumors that yingluck is not his sister (biological relative) but his daughter … by now, we should all have realized that the entire family clan is full of lies and deceit down to the last member ...
