One time, back in the days of internet stores, I walked into a shop run by a young fellow.. There was a huge pile of kids shoes right in the doorway. I remember thinking that my proper father would be incensed by such a pile where people could easily trip and fall - then I would have to tell him, this is Thailand - nobody will fall because everyone knows there are shoes in the doorway... chill out. you are in Thailand. You must adapt to the other culture, not the other way around, -

I love that even poor old ladies can make a few cents selling bananas to tourists at the temple... most kindly people will even pay a few cents extra if asked to help support these pitiable human beings who are in dire straights... -

I give that to my agent to do also - a nominal fee - and it is done. They send me a reminder email 2 weeks before it is due... maybe a very little money is worth not getting your draws in a twist? -

Even when we lived in the village, I was able to function on my own, never 'needing' my Thai wife with me to do anything - she was helpful in teaching me about social customs in the village, but in town, I was more capable especially when dealing with most official projects. When we moved up to the CM area, I was so happy to hire an agent to complete all the paperwork I had to do every year and then find out that they wanted a different color background for the photo etc... I love having an agent to deal with all the paperwork and appointments and know that everything is properly prepared. I spend no more than 5 minutes at the Immigration office... -
Bangkok bank .face scan.

I have face recognition which works sometimes, but I also have a passcode... -
what does that mean? When I see old guys walking around holding hands w/a young girl, it always reminds me of a dog pissing everywhere to mark their turf.. We are together 24 years - I think there were occasional times where my wife took my hand or my arm when we were out.. it is not our normal way - sitting in a hospital bed, yes, but otherwise it is ok, but not something we usually do...

sometimes it seems like everyone is already doing it - - great dream but you seem severely under capitalized if you want something nice. And then, who will be your 51% partner. Have you checked the price of land in the area that you think your customers might want to stay? The areas where the tourists want to be are surely very expensive already - if you want to be off the beaten path, advertising will be expensive and I don't think people go to Phuket to be out of the main action... As a foreigner, you cannot run tours, renting out equipment that will get damaged and then fighting w/your customers does not sound like fun to me - and with people doing activities, I would guess that you will need a fair amount of insurance... it's sad but tragedies happen there often partly because people drink too much and become belligerent and violent - is that also part of your dream, fistfights, knife fights w/out of control customers? There is not much you can create on your budget,,, it is like opening a restaurant and only having 2 tables - you might be full all night and not make any money... If you have never run a business like this - you will need a professional to run it for you - I don't guess it will be as idyllic as it sounds... good luck to you.

sure, but you probably don't get very good odds on that...

4.3% is 3 months treasury bills - - - and my 800,000 +++++ is in the bank here for over 20 years. I live here too and whenever the rates are good, I bring more money here. Any investments here, as in farmland etc are in my wife's name and she has done terrific with that which has the added benefit of the family making money farming the land for free while my wife has done very well as land prices have increased. And my investments in the USA vary from some dividend oriented funds that have been yielding 14% + and downward from there to index funds as well... I am fairly well diversified and the 800,000 Thai baht in the bank is a very small portion. As I am getting older, I am somewhat more conservative, as the mood strikes - funds are mostly easily moved around, but the older I get, the more conservative I have been. Sometimes I even do a little day trading which is mostly gambling and I keep it limited. Diversification helps me sleep easy... though a sleep aid would be nice too.

I think you have the figures backwards... it will take you 10% more dollars to buy that 800,000 baht... and the 1.5% interest is well below the 4.3% that I am getting on government bonds in the USA - - If you are talking about 800,000 baht that you bought long ago, it probably has not kept up with inflation here...

That Trump might be successful at one of his goals? That's NYC - is the rest of the country inflating at the same rate? And what are the real estate prices like in the city now? How are prices in Tribeca? How much is a big roast beef sandwich at the corner deli? Or a slice of Ray's Pizza? Might be worth a flier...

Just looks like a slight twist of a name, usually something Freudian involved?? Laxative, Laxada, maybe a desire or need to relax - who knows? Not as brave as your reveal... Trans Sam... - I have no idea - it just reads that way... you are probably one of the saner posters here... and no problem with being vaxxed - right?

families can be very stressful - maybe some time w/good friends would be better - - or learn to meditate.

Yes, very true and if an insurer balks at payment, what happens? Do the hospitals absorb the cost or does the patient die of an easily treatable condition? Meds can get expensive too. what are most elderly doing? I have heard that something like 95% of people in the USA die broke from medical expenses - especially if they live into their 90s...

Not a good idea - - they will be grateful for a short while, if that is what you are hoping for - then they will become people, with hopes and wants and dreams.... and Scuba probably has it right that they likely have mental issues - you are choosing someone who is likely unable to function... -
