  1. The store is buying from a distributor - they have probably rcvd a price hike and are passing it on...
  2. In rural Thailand most directions are for the next street - one street at a time.
  3. They probably looked at the size 13 clown shoes and figured you wouldn't get it anyway...
  4. I lived rural USA and I did actually get directions exactly like that... Another issue here is that about 50% of the people will answer "yes" just to be polite...
  5. Coming soon to a theatre near you... I have seen clips of gangs of 10 or more smashing and grabbing in jewellery stores.. no way to stop them.
  6. Kasikorn is great for me - transfer done usually in 12 - 20 hours. Good rates too.
  7. I don't drink, but I am thinking about learning
  8. but much more difficult to do on land
  9. Yo dude.. this is not boot camp... I am not trying to beat myself in shape in time for Rugby season... Simple question... is one step in the pool equal to 3 steps on land 5 steps? or more?
  10. So, if you are in a pool shoulder deep, with the waters resistance - how many steps in water would equal land steps... I could only find a listing based on time in water... 5200 steps per 30 minutes...
  11. how about if we throw a surprise party for you - - a month after your birthday.
  12. The family and community will know what to do... it is not something I would get involved in.
  13. Well, it isn't what we grew up with - but not everything I grew up with was good... I would say that here people are happier than my home country... and it is better for me to live in a happy environment..
  14. Spontaneity. Living in the moment. As difficult as it can be for us Westerners, in a crazy sort of way, isn't that part of the charm of being here? I probably spend too much time worrying about the future. That was my training and I am not sure it is a better philosophy.
  15. That's a dream, like a mini merry go round...
  16. a map will not tell him if a border crossing is open - we ask questions here to get informed personal current experiences - - in addition to the snarky replies.
  17. is that the putter you use to shoot your age? and was it a par 3 course?
  18. is that some sort of Freudian slip? bar fine slides nearly to defile?
  19. yeah? What happened to that home on the main line?
  20. one friend of mine used to say, if the act is good - who cares? But what you got was the ultimate in what they are selling.. at its best, they are selling the feeling of youthful ness... men have been searching forever for the fountain of youth... and you found it good for you - enjoy.
  21. butyou had a nice day. something different and left wiith something to write to us about.. yeah.
  22. Interesting. Maybe I am in a bubble too. I was first here in 1974 as a backpacker. The other backpackers were enjoying and fascinated by a different culture. Phone calls home were very expensive. Letters home took 2 months. I spent near 20 years living in a farming village. I would meet gap year teachers at my kids school. I would show them around a bit and speaking Thai, let them know if they needed help, I was available. Then I realized they had google translate and video calls with their family and friends right in their pocket. What a world. If you can imagine, in 1974 if you were walking down the street and saw another Westerner, you both stopped to chat and offer travel tips. Now, there are so many foreigners here and you would be considered weird just for saying hello.
  23. I don't drink but it surely would be nice to break up the trip w/a respite in a dining car and maybe try an adult beverage to help me sleep. Still undecided. Thanks for all responses.
  24. This is my own research... read the comments and you will learn as well.
  25. you understand that nobody knows the answer to this - right?
