  1. many yrs ago in Bkk, a friend used to feel sorry for a fruit vendor and bought from him every day... then he was gone and re-appeared 2 weeks later. He had gone to visit his son in Australia who he was putting through university there...

  11. and found them again for the Brits who came in a few minutes later... he was skimping... thought he was real smart... as you know, no lack of decent places to stay in CM - even way back when.

Trip advisor is probably a good place to scout out some day trips... it is a tourist city w/plenty of small shops booking day trips for you... go into any of the little travel shops and they have plenty of brochures... anything from zip lines to cooking classes... and yes, wandering around in the old city has many quaint little restaurants and surprises for you... have fun.
  13. Undoubtedly the brutish British innkeeper, in my opinion... he had an attitude and why should I put up with not getting the same meal as the others there. He was not just an ( o ) he was a big ( O )... don't take offense because you are Dan O... If you don't like the service, do you return? I didn't make a stink over it.. I just went someplace else...

  17. Actually one of the quaintest parts of all Thailand is the Old City of CM - especially the NE Quadrant... You might also try Visine...
  18. I stayed at a nice little resort in CM - Brit owner - served that Brit b-fast w/beans... except not being a Brit, he didn't give me beans.. I didn't complain - I checked out. He is now out of business... saved himself 5 baht and lost a customer... a real ( 0 )

  21. The other reason to buy is to be able to customize a place to your liking... any improvements are an investment... cool it up with nice furnishings

  23. Go once every 6 or 8 months - Rutnin is one of the best in the world - your eyes are important.
