I have met some people whose parents were in concentration camps and they [the children] were pretty messed up too... My neighbor was Dutch. When his mother came to town, my parents invited her to dinner. Drinks and appetizers first, then a big wonderful Thanksgiving style dinner w/all the fixings. Great conversation. Warmth. Laughter. When dessert came, my friends mother broke down crying hysterically. She had survived the camps and no other family member had... she could not enjoy w/o feeling guilty. And I am sure it was not easy for my friend to see his mother liked that.
