  1. Yes, I think you are right in many ways... I used to think that anyone would be happier here, but now I am not sure... though I can't think of any place I would rather be or that would be better. For me. I have been here a long time and first here in 1974... back when people actually did enjoy exploring the exotic culture... I think these days many people are just here for issues of cost and often have no idea of what being in another culture means... And if you are going to be heading into the dementia years, often a very slow process, the affect of being in a different culture may not be the best place to be...
  2. I think the ship has already sailed on that one..

  5. Another thing is that people can be slobs in many ways... I went to look at a house on a river - decent house - they had airbnb people for the weekend... a bit messy but the a/c was on full blast and all the doors were open...

  7. ok - I don't know much but let me take a shot at this one... Welcome and neutral elements?
  8. There is a very strong aspect of relativity to money... interesting subject. So many different facets.. Some say that the feeling of wealth is in large part dependent upon the relative wealth that you have in relation to your neighbor... A friend who is extremely wealthy built a 5,000 sq ft summer home in USA... soon after some very big name celebrities moved into the immediate neighborhood and built 20,000 sq ft homes. He feels like the pauper there. If you had built his home in my village, you would feel like the richest man ever.. Friend of a friend: true story - A guy worked hard and decided to retire. He sold his business for US $70 MM - but after 6 months he was totally bored. He bought a business for US $60MM... within 6 months, the business went bankrupt - He still had US $10MM - he committed suicide... I assume where $10MM is plenty for most of us it might have created a large drop in lifestyle for him. As to your question: I would probably give most of it away to deserving people...

  17. Having it run perfectly just makes it a nicer gift on your part... good on you. And if you like, maybe she will come back and bite you...
  18. Then sell it to her really cheap [10 baht] ... it seems having any responsibility will be of concern to you - it would me too. If you are not going to use it anyway... get rid of it and do a good deed too.
