sure, get your toes wet...
ps - one of our posters here stated that he was so pleased that he was understood when asking for something at the store... 2 weeks later, he boasted that he now can speak Thai...
sure, he learned a sentence but someone who has been speaking for 20 years surely has a better understanding of the language than he does.
I self insure. I think the last thing I would want if I had a medical issue would be to be fighting w/an insurer.
And if I was the insurer, the last thing I would want would be an elderly insuree
There are Western comforts outside of Disneyland... living in Thailand is fascinating if you want to learn about a new culture, language and way of living... though I think trashing people different from you will not be respected.
I understand. A friend of mine from Maine advises me to stock up on warm clothes and firewood....
please don't cut your beautiful trees. But, if you do, we can use the firewood.
ridiculous idea - go from being here legally to illegal... the money will go to his wife soon enough.
Why break a law and risk legal trouble? I doubt he is looking for problems.
Good point - - and in my experience, things change, both for better or worse, more expensive or less... I have given anywhere from nothing to what would be considered a lot. My wife is a "person" - - she has dreams and wants and it became part of my life and happiness to help her achieve and exceed her goals... through sickness and in health.
it is called sharing and caring - - and for me, it comes w/no obligations.
That's telling him!! - - It is all individual, every case is different...
If you only have 30,000 baht a month income and you give 15,000, you are very generous...
If you have 500,000-1MM baht a month, 20,000 baht a month would be cheap...
my understanding of baht busses and songtaews in CM is that the price is for staying on their route. If you want them to take you somewhere off the route you negotiate the price and they seem much more reasonable than taking a taxi.
