  1. I am an excellent tipper - - one of my few talents. I am actually dangerous in the kitchen but I dabble and try and feed myself sometimes.
  2. Or ropped - - to keep in the spirit of things. I have never used the service - if they bring Ray's Pizza or Junior's cheesecake, I might give it a try.
  3. you can if you concentrate and try a little harder...
  4. Well, you called it old school... my kid has never wanted much but things like iPads etc are used for school as well as fun. she is such a great kid that I don't mind buying her a good phone etc... her clothes and extras she buys from her allowance. An 18 yr old teenage girl and she has never been anything but polite and attentive - and never an eye roll. I am proud of the adult she is becoming.
  5. I have noticed that they assume they have the curb if they stay close - - she rides in country areas and our village - I am concerned about CM
  6. ha ha... don't let them see your forum posts...
  7. Been here on a retirement visa for over 20 years. Most of that time I did my own paperwork and every time, I have found Immigration to be friendly and pleasant. Sometimes, I would have to go with some changes and get a different photo or form to fill out - I was living in an outer province - I had to mail in my 90 day report. I am now in a larger province where there are visa agents who fill out all the paperwork and for a nominal fee, they make the entire process very easy and fast. I do meet the legal requirements and keep the 800,000 baht in the bank - It probably appears very confusing but if you qualify, it is not so bad and if you use an agent, it is very easy.
  8. Thanks - and I agree [though not as forcefully] - the issue has been settled - extra money for Grab... and she is quite ok with it...
  9. Me too - did my own for many years but for a nominal fee all the paperwork is done and done correctly. I do have to get the letter from the bank which is no big deal - and I have to sign here, sign here, at the agents office and they make an appointment for me at Immigration and I am there for 2 minutes as they take my photo and all is finished... No worries. No angst.
  10. If you have just one girl you should not need Jack... Bad for your eyesight.
  11. Thankfully that is only in Thailand... and everywhere else people pay their debts off
  12. I have lent money to Thai people and been paid back - even family have at times asked for a 'gift' or a 'loan' - they know the difference and pay me back at a better % of times than falang...
  13. Well, the issue is past, but you are not old school in my book. Do you have children? Do you give them nothing? That sounds kind of mean...
  14. Thankfully, I just dodged a bullet and her only need for the motorcycle was to get to a special learning class - I told her she needs a license and I would gladly [and did] pay for Grab taxi whenever she needs the coin. And yes, last year I offered to have her go to driving school and learn how to drive a car - - and yes, no problem to buy her a new car or 2nd hand as desired. My guess is that it was not very important to her and she might have been under a bit of peer pressure - - she does ride a motorcycle in the countryside when staying here, but only for necessities. She did not seem in the least disappointed. I would like to see her drive a car but they keep these poor kids so busy at school that she barely has enough time to sleep.
  15. I hadn't thought of that aspect, an antidote for aging.
  16. the reason not to marry a young lady is that you don't have to go to the disco
  17. Very responsible young 18 yr old wants a motorcycle for use in Chiang Mai.. At the moment she does not have a license - - I would be very against this but what are the liabilities? I see HS kids riding around all the time... Are there any figures on teenage accidents? And Fatalities?
  18. And when they knew it was you.
  19. Mungkala acupuncture and Chinese medicine clinic [inside the moat] helped me recover from a pinched nerve... I would give it a try.
  20. I was responding to a fellow who was complaining of things going downhill at age 40... Do you feel better than you did at age 40? And do you expect to feel even better at age 85? Great for you, but the rest of the population is on a downhill side of the curve as they age.
