  1. The day we began to build the house it was hers... No surprise. I knew that and proceeded willingly - 23 years later, it is still hers. I neither need it nor want it.
  2. Well, thank goodness that never happens in the Western World... a couple gets together, then divorces... Here it is a scam... in the West where it is usually much more costly, it is just every day life.
  3. it's great to splurge.
  4. not even the fat ones?
  5. on a financial basis? maybe. on an emotional basis - meh?
  6. You are probably right - - you can't talk someone into loving you... telling someone that you are needy is not an attractive thing. You are essentially telling them that their efforts to care for you are not enough. I would say this is likely to be a turn off for a Thai person. For the most part, financial security is more important than romantic love... most Thai have lots of friends and family and don't have the needs for the type of connection that you have... In many ways, they are more practical. How long have you been together? Are you part of the family? How much have you given out financially and emotionally? Good luck to you, but my guess, and only a guess, is that this cannot be resolved to your satisfaction.
  7. I would ask the agent this same question - - make them partly a part of the process... ask if there is an independent 3rd party who will check.. ask if the owner has a history of not returning deposits. that said, nobody can insure the landlord that the tenant will leave the place clean and undamaged.
  8. I have been going to Payon Clinic in Chiang Mai - Dr. Jay is great. He has been my dentist for over 15 years - I speak Thai but his English is excellent. As most of the dentists in Chiang Mai, I think they are reasonably priced. And he is centrally located... spotlessly clean too, but I would expect that from all dentists in CM... A friend of mine had estimates over $10,000 in USA and got fixed up here for $300 - Dentists in USA tend toward extra unnecessary work. I think it is very inexpensive compared to USA... and they have all the state of the art equipment here. I was talking w/a friend in New York and told him I had a cleaning for just under $20 - he told me that it costs him $20 to park his car when he goes to the dentist...
  9. Great awareness of language - it happening all the time is what makes it a cliche... neither handsome nor slim... personality is the key. What is your very sick obsession with weight all about? Other than being a bit creepy?
  10. leave no cliche unturned... do you have a GF or no Thai lady would even look at you?
  11. I thought tuk tuks were mostly just an amusement park ride for tourists... ??
  12. My wife does not like skinny - - but nobody seems to care - I sure don't care - - but I have had a few obese friends over the years and they are smart and really great people who have suffered from name calling etc..
  13. I get the feeling that he is such an ( o ) that nobody would have anything to do w/him of either sex... especially a Thai person - they have radar for jerks like him...
  14. Personally not sensitive in the least and not struggling at all - but no surprise that your perceptions are so dim - - I have friends who are very overweight and it upsets me how poorly they have been treated throughout their lives by blockheads w/low IQs- prejudiced and ignorant people. What kind of person is so insecure that they have to make fun of another person for their weight issues?
  15. Nobody can predict what might happen in a relationship. I have been lucky and have bought plenty of land and a few homes with my Thai wife - - BUT - I never bought anything here in my families name that had any special agreement. No usufruct etc - but I also never bought anything that I couldn't walk away from... best said, anything I buy is a gift. if you are planning on a house, make sure to think it through, visit it often at all hours and best to rent right off so you can learn what you like and don't like about the house and the area... ps - you might want to find out how long the house has been on the market - and what/if your possibilities of resale might be... I once called the number on a sign for 'House For sale' It had been on the market for so long, the lady could not remember having this house. Moo bahns can be tough for resale. There is a lot on the market. Best advice - rent and keep looking.
  16. Was that you on the bicycle, the picture you posted? I thought you were like 40 years old and just very immature for your age, but you are not a kid and should know better than to make fun of people - - I am a bit overweight, it goes up and down, but it is really perverse that you seem to care more about my weight than I do...
  17. but not all... and a bit nasty to presume that... but, that's where you live.
  18. happy wife - happy life... I aspire-to 2 hours a day... some days more, some days less...
  19. he said she is a college student.. possible, but not like the crowd you hang with...
  20. You are in another culture, which simply means people have different ways of doing things... It sounds like she really does not want to be questioned by you - - go with that - - or don't. But, don't get your underwear tangled in a snit. you didn't go into it, but sounds like she probably accepts you as you are... She is a student, a person and she obviously has a life.
  21. Cawwww=feee.. so far. Toast..
  22. Scleroderma even worse...
