  1. What about a Donner ka-bob / Gyro / 50's dinner concept ?? The wife has a small shop across from Hang Dong market just up from the Tesco Xpress, selling Thai food. We have been there for just over a year, and I think with the amount of farang out this way, some farang style food would go over. Another thought I have had, is to serve a lunch menu with a choice of two different meats, veggies, cornbread or roll and ice tea, daily, having a different choice every day for five days each week. Any thoughts would be appertiated.

    Now you are talking.

This sounds like something that would interest the locals if the quality is good and the price right.

Lots of people like to pop out for lunch and then eat at home in the evening.

I tend to think with small food places......keep it simple, do it well......and the people will come.

Indeed. Like Dee's Fish N Chips for example. Perfect with a nice fresh juice from the "juice bar".

  3. why bother getting one at all? getting into National Parks cheaper seems the only advantage !

you won't get any insurance coverage without one.

I think that depends on whether you mean insurance for a car you own and drive yourself, or insurance for a car you're renting from a car rental agency.

I don't own my own car. But I've rented from most of the major Thai car rental agencies in recent years. And my rentals have always included their add-on liability and CDW insurance packages, and all were done using my U.S. driver's license, which they accepted without question.

In a Thai court of law without a Thai licence or International drivers permit you would be up poo creek I'm afraid. They will let you drive for sure, but get in a pickle and then you are toast.

  4. I wonder if we can get a ten-page thread going on the merits of a small subsandwich shop that few of us will ever visit.

Residents of Kad Farang and nearby might appreciate a small sub sandwich shop, more than they need The Game.

A juice bar is what we (I) need. Turn the Game back into The Dukes and all will be well in the world.

Thats location has NEVER been the home to the DUKES with the exception of a sign which was there for a few Months it never opened and a juice bar would last even less

Rubbish. The Dukes would dominate the area, unlike The Game, never seen anyone in it. As for a juice bar how do you know? It may do far better than your mates Game.

  6. Powdered milk would put anywhere on the Do Not Visit list. Horrible in tea and unthinkable in espresso. This is rather a odd business practice if the place is hoping to get a secure a big farang clientele though isn't it?

The last business there was Wraps, they failed as well, heard they moved to Makro. The lady owner used to hate my guts. Real piece of work. That premises needs a juice bar or the likes.

  7. I ate at Duke's at Promenada yesterday afternoon around 5:00pm... I was the only customer...

Having been to Promenada at least 40 times, I can assure you that was a "one off" although 17:00 is sort of between lunch and the dinner hours. It is almost always completely packed (with perhaps 70% Thais) day and evening.

Every time i have been it has been close to full.

Promenada will have the last laugh for sure.

  8. We purchased a top notch Horizon treadmill at Sports World central festival. We got it for 40% less than the price on it after haggling. Happy with it, and its a heavy duty machine, beware of the kg rating on most. It can be as little as 80kgs, ok if your from Munchkin land i guess.

Agree, I also bought a Horizon from Sports World although not the top one (841T at only 40k Baht) but enough for the average foreigner's weight and they gave good service.

The average foreigner in CM is over 100kgs, hence the heavy duty requirements. And if you run hard on them you need a sturdy one.

  10. 3BB do not operate a 2 tier price system. However foreigners are often required to pay one year up front'

    The cheapest service is 590 + 41 tax = 631 baht/month, the next service (13 meg) is 900 + 63 tax = 963 baht/month. Could be you had a business account, more expensive again.

Shall I scan our bills and post here?

    Yeah, go on, why not.

  11. My favourites at the moment are:

    Mexican - Salsa Kitchen

Sushi - either of the Tengoku restaurants or Tsunami on Huey Guaw

Western - Dukes, The Brotherhood, Kelly's, The Organic Coffee Bus

Looking for recommendations for good Indian restaurants smile.png

New Delhi is by far the best in town. Slow cooked though, so bring your iPhone. Well worth the wait.
