  1. The best Bolognese sauce in CM is made daily and sold by a lady named Dang in the Warorot Market, she calls it "nam prick ong".

I was about to post the same, Nam Prik Ong is Bolognese sauce on heat.

Amusing posts, especially love the 30 year hunt for the world's best Bolognese sauce being resolved in a shopping centre on the outskirts of Chiang Mai.

Namm prik and bolognese shouldn't be used in the same sentence, lol.

One is tomato sauce the other is chilli sauce.

    Ragu does CM's best, lol.

Nam Prik Ong is green chilli sauce / paste. And the shop that sells the sai oua (CM sausage) near Holiday Inn makes the best nam price ong...

Ragu do the best bolognese sauce. rolleyes.gif

If your knowledge of nam pricks is equal to your knowledge of bolonese sauce, you do not know shit.

Nam prick ong is not a green chili sauce or paste and a paste is very different from a sauce.

My apologies. That's naam prik noom i was thinking of.

Nam prik ong is still a chilli sauce / paste though, lol. http://www.thaifood-recipe.com/recipes/9/nam_prik_ong.html

  3. Without a car park it will never really take off, not long term anyway. Nimmenhemin is a right off in that dept. Even the old faithful "Green Door" has suffered of late with less car spaces available.

The Dukes have all been built with car parking spaces in mind (except night bazaar with its tourist traffic).

The Dukes at the night bazaar next door to McD"s does have off street parking it is directly in back and it is free for dinning at McD's and McDukes.

I know that. But the majority of customers are walk inns. Those with cars tend to go to the Dukes river side or Promenada.

  6. The original poster is not seriously stating that a Spaghetti Bolognese at Ragu is better than any similar product in Italy.......seriously??!! Italian food in Italy in most restaurants is to die for, try watching "Italy Unpacked" TV series, or Steve Coogans "The Trip To Italy" or "Ginos Italian Adventure"......etc etc etc !!!

    Yawn...

We are in Chiang Mai, not Italy.

  7. How can they be unsafe if I know how to jump I don't get it ? It the water not deep enough ? are those concrete boards about to collapse if I climb up ??

I know the canyon but got bored a little bit by having to swim, climb and walk barefoot on rocks so much for every jump. But defenetly a very nice spot. Do you know if there are other spots similar to the canyon here or near Chiang Mai ?

Because Thailand is the hub of unsafe contraptions.

  8. There is a new area opened up on Hang Dong Rd about 5-6 kms (approx on the right) down from Airport Plaza, near a Mazda dealer. There are signs on the gates now in Thai, but missus said car auction and second hand sales. There are literally thousands of cars here. Repossessed mainly i heard. Bring and umbrella and or sunblock and a bottle of water though, no shelter.

    Worth a try.

Take a Thai speaking person with you that knows a bit about cars, preferably a mechanic. Some vehicles look pretty tired but some gems at the right price.

Motor scooters too, next door neighbour got a 1 year old Honda repo for 20,000 b Had 18,000 b on the sticker but someone offered 19,000 b so she upped the offer.

There are big semis probably from Bangkok off loading stock every time we go past..

Cant see why they would bring cars here from Bangkok.

The way the dealers set up at all the shopping centres here trying to lure new customers into buying something they can't afford it doesn't surprise me they not all local vehicles.

  10. This forum has it's fair share of genuinely certified thats for sure.

As far as veggies go just wash them when you get home, no big deal. I think the worry about what is on the food does more harm than what's on there.

You seem to forget what might be IN the food, not just what's on it.

What makes you think toxic chemicals will just sit nicely on the plants and fruits and not enter the actual food itself? If you use chemical soap and shampoo, it gets absorped through your skin and into your body. Same with what's grown in the soil.

I do agree, we choose what is stated as organic when possible, then wash them anyway.

Either that or grow them yourself as suggested.I still believe the worry and fear these things create are far worse than the traces of chemicals supposed to be "poisoning" us.

    But what do i know.

  11. The instant ones we use save all the hassle and kids love them, why bother with the mess?

When else can a guy get a chance to wear a pinafore if he doesn't make his own pizza base?

    Good point.

He can then throw on his maids uniform to clean up the kitchen...

By this time we have not only made our pizzas but have moved into the cigar and cognac room...

  12. There are some local producers who have been certified as organic by the USA FDA in case you have trust issues.

They have little store in prom near the Rimping and I see their product on sale in other places too- I forget the name though now. Mae sonething

Personally I trust the Royal project and for me they are convenient. They have stores all over town too.

If you do not trust anyone then your last option is get your hands dirty a little and grow your own.

That or get over it and quit moaning.

Good advice. And wash your vegetables in clean water, it's not rocket science.
