Myanmar businessman killed over black money deal in Bangkok

I wouldn't be surprised if they are already out of the country. -
And so the exodus of quality expats begins. This time it's personal

I was last in Loei back in 2000 over New Year's on a cycling trip. It does sound as if it has changed a bit since then. -

I avoid going to Phuket. Not worth going through all the problems that plague that over-crowded and over-priced island. -
Tragedy on Lufthansa Flight from Bangkok to Germany
Hanuman2547 replied to NextG's topic in Thailand News
"Passengers took pictures onboard as the drama unfolded." Why? Were they going to update their status on Facebook, Instagram, or some other social media platform? -
The way that condos are run and the quality of them I would be very wary of actually purchasing one. There are definitely more condos for sale in the greater Pattaya area than there are buyers. There are so many things that you can't control such as neighbors plus Air BnB's, but then the condo management is a whole other problem. Good luck in your search.

Thai Airways sues over passenger’s flight diversion criticism
Hanuman2547 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I have avoided flying Thai Airways internationally for many years. It's pretty easy as they don't serve the city I live in at my home country. I would have to fly somewhere else first and make another connection. There are many other Asian carriers that serve the city near me so I just fly with them. Plus the other carriers are all significantly cheaper to fly with. -
Hotel launches glass skywalk with 360-degree view of Samet Nangshe
Hanuman2547 replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
I stayed at the hotel next to it back in December. It is a very nice view. Not sure I would want to pay 500 baht at the place with the Skywalk. -
TAT Proposes Extended Visa-Free Stays to Boost Tourism
Hanuman2547 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I think a 90 day visa free program would be very good for a lot of people whether they stay 45, 60, or the full 90 days. If they can easily extend for an additional 30 days that might be even more attractive. A lot of older people want to escape the northern hemisphere winter and this might suit them well. It's definitely better than what they are currently doing. -

The reason we have FAA regulations is because they weren't being safe in the first place. -

Swiss man’s wife missing in Thailand after inheriting 13 million baht
Hanuman2547 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So many possible outcomes to this scenario. The new Swiss husband, the sister, other relatives, even the abbot of the nearby Wat could all be possible suspects. Or maybe she just ran off with the money to start a new life somewhere else. -
Bangkok bar owner arrested in Bang Na for illegal operations
Hanuman2547 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
"During the inspection, authorities found four customers whose urine tested positive for drugs, indicating substance abuse within the establishment." Only indicates that they had drugs in their system. Doesn't tell you precisely where the drugs were consumed. They could have taken the drugs earlier in the evening elsewhere and depending upon the type of drug, it could have been a day or more earlier. -

I hope that the Thais have rejected it! Can you imagine the difficulty Thais will have in learning English with all the new "politically correct" pronouns and their usage? -
That cat better be declawed or it's going to scratch the paint job and tear up the leather interior.
