  1. I personally like the hybrid models more than the fully EV's. I lean more towards Toyotas than other brands. I'm not a fan of the Chinese made EV's.
  2. After he receives his brown envelope, the investigation will be completed and will find that no malfeasance was involved..
  3. If you have the money and the connections, you can make things like this happen. TIT
  4. Which is why I won't retire full time in Thailand. It's nice to escape from a northern winter for 3-4 months but I don't want to be there all year. Lived and worked in Bangkok for 12 years and that was enough.
  5. They can reach the roof hatch when the bus is lying on its side after a crash or after the bus came to a stop after rolling down an embankment. Many school buses have emergency windows on both sides of the bus that you just push out. They really need to equip school buses with seat belts. They tend to not have them to keep costs down.....and that's in the USA! Most of all, the buses need to be serviced regularly to ensure that they are in safe operating condition. I won't hold my breath on that one happening in Thailand.
  6. You could also try posting your request here: Teach English in Thailand (ajarn.com) This website is all about teaching in Thailand. Not sure if they have a region covering NST or not but it's worth looking at.
  7. For me, I would suggest visiting Thailand from mid-November to about mid-January. It is the cool season so the temperatures are a bit better. The rain has stopped. The only issue is the air quality begins to get worse around the end of the year due to widespread burning of fields.
  8. Looks like he might be playing for a new team in front of a lot less fans in the near future.
  9. I do miss the days of 40-42 baht to the dollar back in the late 90's early 2000s. Life was great then. Now with the talk of being taxed in Thailand if you reside greater than 180 days that won't affect me much but maybe others. I hadn't planned to stay in Thailand for more than six months anyway but now will stay only 5 months or so.
  10. I pretty much pack my bicycle similar to what Chomper Higgot described in his 24 June post. Been doing this for about 30 years. However, I do not fly Thai for a couple of reasons. Usually, their airfare is much more expensive so that is a problem from the start plus the connections are not good. They also charge for a bicycle when other airlines do not. I generally fly EVA, JAL, or Korean and none of them charge for bicycles. They just count it as one of your bags. I only pack my bicycle and bicycle related equipment in the bike (hardcase) suitcase. The bicycle is usually delivered at the oversize counter in Bangkok for pick up. Not a problem.
  11. I'm sure that Jesus will be happy with these two for using deception in an attempt to lure these young Buddhist monks away from their current religion. (sarcasm intended)
  12. Most voters in the US election have already made up their mind who they are going to vote for. The debates do little to sway the yet undecided to vote one way or the other. That being said, Trump is probably not wanting another poor performance to be remembered by. Instead, he is banking on voters not remembering his last debate, as come election day, his debate will be months in the past.
  13. Two vastly different scenarios. By the way, who was killed at Mar-a-Lago? Do better.
  14. She is a very lucky lady to have survived having the squeeze put on her for that long.
  15. Just wondering. Is your mother a white woman? Has she gained 15kg and been attacked by cellulite?
  16. There's probably a bit more to this story. Obviously, they made some very poor choices if the allegations are true.
  17. While I applaud the concept, actually implementing this will be a very large task to pull off.
  18. If her husband wasn't engaged in illegal activities then her home would not have been raided. It was done legally with DOJ approved search warrants.
  19. I've brought bicycles into and out of Thailand many times over the past 30 years. I have never been stopped. I have been asked, "What is it?" maybe once or twice and after telling them that it is a bicycle that was fine and away I went. Most of the time I have travelled with an oversized hardcase bicycle suitcase but have also used soft sided bicycle suitcases. They seem more intrigued by what could this large suitcase possibly contain.
  20. Obviously the suspect vented his anger on the wrong person. To his credit, he did seek out the alleged attacker but wasn't able to meet up with him. That the victim was the wrath of his anger is very sad indeed.
  21. In Thailand, I use a rear red flashing light when on the roads. It isn't super bright, but it is bright enough. When I reach a park to ride at (Rama IX Park, Nong Bon, or Skylane) I turn it off as it isn't needed where there are no cars or motorcycles. In my home country, I use a rear red flashing light and a front white light set on steady and a white flashing light. I rarely ride in the dark.
  22. There used to be a place off of Suriwong Rd that did a little more than just cut your hair back in the 90's. Not sure if it still around or not.
  23. That's what the "experts" always say. Then, a little later, there is a coup.
  24. I'm not surprised at all by his response. This is typical Trump behavior.
  25. Going by your avatar I will assume that you are an American. Therefore I would agree with your statement, especially in the USA or probably any other developed nation. Thailand is a whole different kettle of fish.
