  1. Tricky - I found a way with my Bangkok Bank internet account. I noticed an option for international tranfers out. So I applied for that option, what a nightmare, had to show my Work Permit, lots of paperwork, after some weeks I now have that option. But never tested it so far. Best of luck with your quest ...

I do the same with Kasikorn, once all the documentation was lodged it took a month for it to be approved.

I now send 50% of my salary home every month without issue.

  2. I just don't understand why they can't send them back...

I'm always amused to read comments like this.

You (apparently) tried to Import forbidden items into Thailand and the Shipment was intercepted by Thai Customs.

Now you want to say to Customs:

"Whoops! You caught me this time! Let's just send the illegal Import back to the Country of origin with no penalty to me for trying? No play no foul, OK?"

Try that in the U.S. or Europe.

    Patrick

How was I supposed to know about this new law (November 2013)??

I imported the wheels with a clear conscience, not knowing that it would be against the law, as I've done a few times before. I don't even need the bloody tires!

So you think 10.000Baht loss (=> wheels plus shipping) is a justified penalty for braking this law? A warning would do just fine imo.

Personally I think they're just thieving bstds.

The seller is now trying to contact DHL to see if they can get the wheels back.

I know 10k is not the end of the world, but still...

Ask DHL if they can re-address them to me in an export processing zone. tyres should not be an issue then.

  3. Yes but the reason was not attributed to the wheels, infact the root cause of the engine failure is still unknown however they claimed it was water ingress (could not tell me where or how the water entered) they pulled out the Ford Policy which states water ingress = engine warranty void.

Sure, and if your trans had failed they would have pointed to the non-standard wheel dimensions. rolleyes.gif

Anyone who fools around with stuff when their ride is under warranty is daft.

My Ranger does not have a trans and it has not failed so your point is meaningless unless it can be substantiated.

FWIW people in Australia have failed transmissions with their vehicles fitted with bigger than standard wheels and the transmissions have been replaced under warranty so for it to happen here it would be a Thailand specific policy.

Also to add my tyres are not actually that big in that they are only 1 inch bigger in rolling diametre.

do you mean diameter or circumference?

anyhow do the math (involves pi and and torque calculations) - you might be surprised at the difference in forces involved.

    I mean diametre.

  4. Mine has a concrete base, Burmese redwood frame and sherawood walls - evrything about 4800 baht

lo0ks to be about 1/30th of the size of the OP's so calculating based on that the OP's would have cost about Bt150,000

  5. But your warranty was voided eh...........whistling.gif

  6. Another TV member, Spoonman had a Ranger with bigger wheels. He may be able to give you some advice on the clearance issues if you send him a PM.

I have 22's with a +30 offset(285/45 tyres), there is no clearance issues.

Its already worth half what you paid.

    Fords are worthless here

Whilst my opinion of both Ford and their vehicles is known by many due to the issues I have had the vehicle is worth well more than half I paid for it according to the offers I have had using it for a trade in.

Does anyone have any evidence of this or is it just scare mongering?

There is a very high percentage of vehicles in this country with non standard wheels / tires.

My wheels were never mentioned when my engine warranty was voided.
