Anyone who agreed to work for Trump scores no points by resigning.

This is coming to you from someone who used to live in Pattaya. If I were you, I would go to Pattaya City Hall on North Road. While I have never been inside it, I presume they follow normal government office hours, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Mon. - Fri. I have just seen an item in the Pattaya subforum indicating that you might be in for a long wait once you arrive there.

I speak English and French, and I have taught both in Thailand, sometimes at the same school during the same term. But, my career was before the Khrusapha (Thai Teachers Association) Teachers Licence came into existence. A degree in Modern Languages should be enough for you to teach either or both. I think from your name that your first language is French. if i am correct on that point, you will need to do a Test of English for International Communications (TOEIC) test to work as an English teacher. There is no requirement for a TEFL course to teach legally in Thailand. With a degree in Modern Languages, I think that you are already more than qualified.

To my knowledge, Immigration offices have remained open throughout. If your Immigration office ever does close, you should go in on the first business day after it reopens.

The two posts above miss the point. Someone doesn't become an overstayer by walking into immigration and saying that he wants to switch to an "Overstay Visa". Rather, he was legal at one time, but never bothered to renew. It is irrelevant whether he speaks Thai, whether he lives in a large community or a small one, or in a house or an apartment.

It is unbelievable, that with the 4 day New Year's weekend about to begin, and the kind of projections we have just seen released ( 1,000 - 18,000 new cases per day by Jan. 14), that a national lockdown was not announced a few days ago.

I'm not sure about on plastic, but on fabric, lemon juice will usually remove ink. If you don't have lemon juice at hand, keep the fabric moist until you do.

I have done an annual Extension nine times, at three different Immigration offices. I've never been asked to show that the money came from abroad.

I taught for many years in three different provinces. As a guess, I would say that 20% of schools offer a housing allowance. if you are ever asked to given a written salary expectation, there is nothing to stop you from doing it like this: Monthly Salary: xx,xxx + Housing allowance: yy,yyy = Total: zz,zzz. If doing it verbally, give the total figure.

I am assuming you are teaching English in a day school. Give your students a written assignment approximately every second class, mark it and return it to them. They need to know that your class is a real class, and not just a "talking shop". If they think it is the latter, you will soon have bedlam on your hands.

- your extension will run only until the expiry date of your current passport, but can be transferred to your new passport, with a letter of request to do so from your Embassy.
- many if not most countries require at least 6 months validity of your passport before they will allow you to enter.

Not sure, on my latest PEA bill it's mentioned the amount will be withdrawn from my account on 07/12, today, not happened yet, normally I get 2 withdrawals before 8am30 and the balance around 9am30 every month...
Was this a comment on your bank, or a comment on the PEA ? Banks are private sector, the PEA is public sector.

Deja vu all over again. Doesn't this study group remember the TAT, and their famous "Phuket Model" ? Foreigners who aren't good enough for the rest of Thailand are good enough for Phuket !

In general, I have great respect for the health researchers who are doing the best they can, and have nothing to gain by short-cutting or otherwise manipulating the results. I have equal respect, or possibly even more, for the politicians who are trying to wrestle with these difficult decisions.
In the absence of a vaccine, and the time it will take to distribute it around the planet, the only solution is complete lockdown until the virus is eliminated from a given territory, then the erection of an external barrier to prevent entry. Sound familiar ? Does any country come to mind ?.... ..... Thailand ? Very good !
I've lived here 25 yrs. If asked to pick a country that would do almost everything right, Thailand would have been near the bottom of my list. I am not ashamed to say now how wrong I would have been.
I just saw an item on BBC World news. British football teams are starting to allow reduced numbers of fans into their stadiums to watch their games. These stupid western governments simply don't "get it" Every time things start to go right, they start to relax the restrictions, thereby sewing the seeds for the next "wave". By the time vaccine(s) are widely available, we are going to see millions of more cases and thousands of more dead.

Yes. A SWIFT transfer by a bank usually takes 2 - 3 business days.

When sending money from a developed country to Thailand, it is cheaper to do the exchange on the Thai end. You might be waiting for a long time to hear from anyone with experience transferring from Bolivia to Thailand. Look at the Thai banks' websites for indicative rates.

- Tourists are not permitted to open bank accounts
- those working or living here long-term need to show some evidence of that
- so the restriction is not on the account per se, but on you.

I think you are saying "sender" when you mean "receiver", except possibly in your last question.
I don't think I have ever sent money to someone else from my SCB account.
In general, the receiver will not see the name of the sender if the sender does the transfer at an ATM machine, or at the counter inside the bank. I can not comment on an online transfer.
If you want the receiver to know your identity, send them a text message or call them immediately after you do the transfer.

In 25 yrs. here, I've never heard of an absolute prohibition on a foreigner transferring funds out. What is your current Immigration status ? Do you have a Work Permit ?

Sometime within the past couple of weeks, the Bank of Thailand has posted Fri. Dec. 11 as an additional holiday. They continue to show Mon. Dec. 7 as a holiday.
Given that the announcement from the Government was so well publicized, we should assume that the Dec. 7 has been removed, at least for the public sector.

any place that first serves a Thai customer who has jumped the queue and stepped in front of me, solely on the basis that he is Thai and I am not. It happened to me yesterday, with a teenage kid who by definition has not lived in Thailand as long as I have. I have lived here for 25 years.

Thailand is a very low risk country. But it won't be for very long if they were to start letting Covid-infested foreigners enter. Thank god that Thailand appears to know that.

Are you sure you want the Americans coming back ?
I am not sure quite how to tell you this, but I am going to try: Whether and when the Chinese come back to Thailand depends on what the Thai government want, not on what you want. Of the 200 or so countries on this planet, China looks to have Covid-19 much more under control than nearly all of the others.

I work for a very large Thai company and we have been informed already that 7th will remain the holiday as will 10th. 11th we will need to take as leave, not transfer from 7th.
We tend to follow the SET, so i suspect much like no private companies were given last Thursday and Friday that move of dates will probably be limited to Government.
Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I just checked the Bank of Thailand's website, and the Substitution Day for the Father's Day Holiday remains on Dec. 7, and has not been moved as I indicated above. To anyone who works in the private sector, may I suggest checking with your employer, perhaps in the week of Nov. 30 - Dec. 4, before reporting to work on Dec. 7.

The answer is "no". I am curious to know why you think you might.
