DOJ Seeks 40-Year Sentence for Pelosi's Husband's Attacker

Again, Paul Pelosi is not a politician (and never was). -
DOJ Seeks 40-Year Sentence for Pelosi's Husband's Attacker
GroveHillWanderer replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Paul Pelosi is not a politician. But even if he were, are you seriously suggesting that politicians whose policies you personally don't like, deserve to be beaten over the head with hammers, to teach them to "create better policies"? -
Renewing UK Passport, Proof of Address
GroveHillWanderer replied to pjbkk's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Not sure where you're getting that idea from. The instructions on the UK government website make it clear that the only thing required to check your appearance when there's no countersignature are the photos in your old passport and your new passport. It doesn't make any sense for VFS to need to assume anything regarding the agent, in relation to appearance verification, when the instructions are clear that a comparison of your old and new passport photos is all that is involved. There is no hint anywhere in the passport application instructions, of the applicant having to appear in person when there is no countersignature. -
You were objecting to the following statement: "The felony comes when fraudulent accounting is used to conceal a crime." Whether you agree with the way the statutes are being interpreted and whether you think the second, underlying crime being charged is justifiable, or will be upheld by the jury, it doesn't alter the fact that the statement is true.

Thai EV Market Remains Unfazed by European Sales Downturn
GroveHillWanderer replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That was not actually a fire - if you read the report it says there was smoke (but no fire) coming from under the hood. Later reports established that the smoke (again, not fire) came from a wiring problem with the vehicle's 12V lead-acid battery. So the incident, which caused virtually no damage to the vehicle, had nothing to do with it being an EV. -
Totally agree that it varies widely. FWIW (and of course anecdotal evidence proves nothing) pretty much everyone says that our half-Thai, half-English daughter looks completely European, with barely a hint of Asiatic features. For instance, she has a distinctly aquiline nose, a feature very common with the women on my mother's side of the family. We know other Thai-European couples with children who look almost completely Thai - although I'd say most look like a 50-50 mix of the two gene pools.

Well I don't remember any such thing. Do you have a link to a reliable source for that? I have to say, it sounds highly unlikely to me, given that during his presidency, he thought that Ukraine should be part of Russia and when the invasion actually happened, he called Putin a genius for doing it. Donald Trump Trump thought Ukraine ‘must be part of Russia’ during presidency Trump calls Putin ‘genius’ and ‘savvy’ for Ukraine invasion

The actual data shows that the temperatures have hit new records in multiple parts of the country. Thailand reels under heatwave as some regions hit record high temperatures

Not sure what you're talking about - I don't see any demands (real or otherwise) on that Wikipedia page. All it has is descriptions of the positions taken in previous peace talks. However, Dmitry Medvedev, in March of this year, proposed a new Russian peace plan. As mentioned in the article below, it calls for: What Moscow truly wants from Kyiv: Total submission

You obviously don't understand the difference between prophylactic and therapeutic medicines. -
Data show Metformin effective against COVID-19

What on earth are you even on about? This is a therapeutic drug. There are no therapeutic medicines that have ever been mandated for the general public. -

Buying a new TV --- is it now essential to have Wi-Fi?
GroveHillWanderer replied to 5davidhen1's topic in IT and Computers
Depends how much Internet-based TV you watch and how large your data allowance is. If you only need the internet to set up the TV in the first place (you may or may not need that, depending on the TV) then you only watch cable TV after that, your data allowance would almost certainly be more than enough. If you plan to watch lots of internet-based streaming content every month (Netflix, YouTube etc) then possibly your data allowance might not cover it - again, depends on what your allowance is. -
Data show Metformin effective against COVID-19

It reduces them. Effects of metformin on blood glucose levels and bodyweight mediated through intestinal effects "Metformin lowers blood glucose levels by inhibiting gluconeogenesis and increasing insulin sensitivity. Metformin also acts on the intestine, and reduces blood glucose levels and body weight by various mechanisms."
