    The smaller doors I have only (painfully) encountered at bathrooms. Not yet elsewhere. Since this “low railing” is a regularly coming thread I have been thinking about it for a while. No, I can’t remember any such things from CM or CR. Of course I am in now way discrediting others’ experiences, I am just sharing mine.

    Yeah, consider me baffled. I’ve never seen a butt-hight railing. (Leading me to another thought: is this a cheaply-built thing in Pattaya? Might explain my lack of knowledge as I never go there.)

    So much effort into stretching the law (waiver, extension, overstay). Why not just do it properly and get a real visa?

    A week. Or just freeze it. Nothing wrong with freezing/thawing and refeezing. Been doing that my entire adult life.

    Debt collectors are illegal. Things like this really shouldn’t be discussed in an expat forum. Police, lawyers, expenses, and persistence is the only reasonable advice.

    That’s true. But I can’t even remember if I used my real name when I set up my account. (I’m thinking I didn’t. And I’m thinking most people wouldn’t.)

    Shutting down the truck drivers in Canada has my wholehearted approval. And taking your thoughts further, a govt’t’s actions might just devalue the currency so even cash is useless. Now what? Silver and gold?

    So true. I’ve had some slips and one accident on the stairs here; none ever involving a balcony. (As a student in my cheap apartment, I used to take a nap on the aircon with was standing against the balcony railing. No worries of falling off.)

    No. And no. Hear hear. Glad I’m not alone here saying that “low balcony” is a bit weird. My condo is fine (I also wouldn’t have bought it if construction was iffy; and it wasn’t even a big brand name builder), as were both my previous apartments. Same with any hotel I’ve stayed.

    Not posh for sure. I wish. ???? Nowadays decent/nice places and some really cheap places early on. I’m 1.87m and quite honestly can’t remember noticing any low balconies. (Stayed at some really cheap hotels, think 900 Baht, a few years ago for a family funeral, and even those balconies were fine.) i might actually carry a tape measure on holiday. ????

    Doesn’t seem too unusual for Thai kids. The niece and nephew spent hours after class in tutoring schools and weekends too. Babies get enrolled in some kind of learning classes at age 2-3. Just recently saw a post looking for an evening tutor for a 2.5y/o kid. (Many more examples could be listed.) Here my thoughts: I’d rather have a wife that pushes the kid than one that doesn’t care and thinks basic gov’t school education is sufficient.

    Really? Two decades here and I’ve yet to see a balcony or railing at a mall/ hotel/resort where I thought “Oh, that looks a bit low”.

    If you’re not there permanently, there is chance that some neighbor hooked himself into your electricity. (Talking from second hand experience in our condo.) But, then again 36kBTU is massive and if they old or not well maintained then they’ll suck up the kW quickly.

    “Saying you know a lot…” Maybe expand your horizons. There’s more to life & marriage than Pattaya and bar girls. I can easily list many marriages that are doing just fine.

    Considering they’re sold on Lazada for 399 Baht (and for a brief moment I was seriously considering buying one) I am happy to share my design for free. ????

    This works quite well and is a one-man operation. Cost: close to zero; if you have some leftover PVC pipe and a plastic box. The broom-and-shoo usually involves a lot of shrieking if the Mrs is involved. ???? And you’re right, they usually run in the wrong direction.
