  1. One can’t get an Int’l License without a valid license. (An Int’l License is just an official translation of your license.)
  2. I’m curious what you need an Int’l Driver’s License for. (I was always under the assumption that holiday car rental agencies are content with your regular license.)
  3. #2 Yes, you can do it online. Only needed once when you arrive in Thailand (as I was told by Immigration). #4 Yes, taxes are being enforced. You can tell by many of the vacant/overgrown properties now being turned into orchards (lowest tax rate). Does wonders in making the whole area look much better.
  4. Just did. Doesn’t work. I only get report/share. Thanks for trying to help. Appreciated. edit: Let’s see. Tap grey arrow. Then three dots. 2nd edit: Hey hey. It does work.
  5. I only have “report” and “share” when I click on the three dots. Are you using a web browser (like I am)? Or is there an actual App? THX
  6. Web based? I’ve been looking for that for a while. Couldn’t make it work. But if you say so, I will try again. THX
  7. Can we bring this forum to 21st century functionality? Like adding a feature to edit (spelling) mistakes? edit: OK, I take it back and apologize. After some help, I figured it out. Thanks, bignok.
  8. I don’t know any gov’t department (foreign affairs, immigration, social security, driver’s license, etc) here in Thailand or back home in Canada that would accept pictures with glasses.
  9. I stopped using Aliexpress. Delivery has gotten way to expensive. Lazada/Shopee are decent Thai alternatives. If an item is only on Aliexpress I’ve decided that I can probably do without.
  10. Sorry to hear that. It’s a common occurrence here. I know from experience and others too. Nothing to be done. (We had a pack of dogs doing their rounds and fighting another pack on an hourly basis for years.) Maybe an envelope or a bottle as thank you for the puuyay and there might be more effort made on his behalf? Take the Mrs and ask what it would take for things to improve?
  11. Seems legit. There’s 30+USD tax for $200 orders from US to Canada. Depending in the item, you can expect around 25% import tax into Thailand, which is calculated on the value of the item PLUS the cost of shipping. (Yes, you’ll be taxed on the cost of shipping.) You can contact Thai Customs if you want the exact percentage. They are very helpful.
  12. Talk to the puuyay of your village. Don’t get your hopes up that anything can/will be done though.
  13. Interesting. Never heard of this. Why would one need this document? What for? Thanks.
  14. There is a rent-it store next to the main door of Thaiwatsadu (Chaengwattana). I would assume it’ll be similar at other Thaiwatsadu locations and other building supply stores (Global House, etc).
  15. Less than 10k at a temple. Unfortunately I’ve been to too many recently. If that’s too expensive, start saving now. Or just put 400k+10k into your savings account and keep it there.
  16. I don’t know how else to say it, trying to be helpful. If your cats roam, stop them. If they don’t, then end of story. Then go to your village headman and complain about the lady (knowing that you’ve done nothing wrong that can come back at you).
  17. Well, as a homeowner I can say that cats doing their business on my property is very unpleasant and stinky. I don’t want to argue, I’m just saying that if your cats do as she claims, then it’s a good idea to stop them from going to the neighbour’s garden. (Not only to make her claim untrue but also to avoid craziness like people who put up traps/poison/etc.)
  18. Can’t do anything about the loud conversations. TiT. Put up a privacy fence. Or a cheap version, with a few poles and netting. Put up a chainlink fence to keep the dogs out. If your cats roam, then she has a valid point though.
  19. You can order plywood, particle board, mdf, etc from Lazada or Shopee. Everything I’ve ordered was quick delivery and decent quality.
  20. Just sharing that I didn’t receive any mail from overseas for consecutive years, until I told family to stop sending anything (postcards, letters, parcels, etc). Local bills were all delivered. Definitely something fishy going on there. Moved to a new address recently and received the first package sent from overseas.
  21. I loved my Siemens. It worked for 16 years. Samsung (12+k) are good. The very cheap Samsung are produced by TCL (a brand which I wouldn’t trust for longevity). I got a Bosch for 16k from Powerbuy. Walk in, free delivery next day, setup and free removal of the old machine. (Cheap Bosch made in China, medium priced Bosch made in Turkey, expensive Bosch made in Germany.)
  22. Quite possible. It has been like that for every extension I did. (And I don’t question when asked to do sthg at Immigration.)
  23. Chaengwattana. Photocopy of balance is required when picking up the marriage visa. Has been like this for years. (And I’ve heard many people being verbally reminded to follow this requirement.)
