  1. It works on other destinations, just don't get any results Bangkok to Prachuap, maybe there just aren't any seats available, it is Chinese new year. Try at the station, but you may be out of luck.
  2. The wall survived the monsoon season then!
  3. Have you registered? Won't work until you register and login.
  4. I was listening to a programme on BBC Radio 4 a couple of weeks ago about the effectiveness of nasal sprays sold as a defence against colds and flu. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001gl6g One of the products reviewed was Vicks First Defence, which acts by creating an acidic environment within the nasal cavity which viruses find it hard to survive in. The mechanics behind this Thai nasal spray seem similar, with the citrus extract (citric acid) creating the acidic environment. The expert opinion was there was evidence, albeit in very limited clinical trials, that this approach had some merit. .
  5. On the K Plus app home screen bottom row of icons has Debit Card, tap on that and it has an Issue debit card option, follow that and apply and under select card category opt for K Online Debit Card.
  6. Just shows how little you know or understand southern Thailand.
  7. The only way to apply and manage is via the K Plus app, but once issued you can view and note down the card details, you can use those from your computer or anywhere.
  8. Coincidentally Kasikorn sent me an SMS yesterday reminding me my existing K Online debit card would expire at the end of the month. It also informed me I could now apply for a new card via the K Plus app, which I did, so I now have a new virtual debit card. Note if you log on to KBank internet banking there's the following pop up message. So only available via the K Plus app.
  9. Wife and I have been with Kasikorn for 20 years. We have both individual and joint accounts. Individual accounts have both on-line and on-app banking - both Thai and English language options. The joint accounts, for whatever stupidity, are not accessible except at the ATM or the bank - it is what it is. That said, both the on-line banking and the app are very good, as is the service generally; provided you understand everything is on paper, often in duplicate, with much serving little purpose beyond job creation.
  10. I wasn't asked for either, though I am vaccinated and had my certificate with me, I had registered on MySejahtera, and I did have suitable health insurance. None of it was asked for either flying out, arriving, or flying back again. That was early November 2022 that I flew down to KL from Hat Yai. However, keep an eye on the Malaysian requirements as they may change with the influx of Chinese. .
  11. Do you have a Wise debit card? If you do you can buy Ringgit on Wise and use from your debit card, ditto Yen. Only an option if you opened your Wise account from the UK, no Wise card for Thailand unfortunately. .
  12. Wise isn't so good for USD transfers, above USD8 to 10k it's cheaper to use SWIFT from the US. The margin between buy and sell is so tight for USD it make it hard for Wise to be competitive.
  13. There's a warning in the local online newspaper to beware poisonous jelly fish - box head and bottle-head jellyfish - for Songkhla's Chalatat and Samila Beaches. February is the month they normally appear, but they're early this year. https://www.hatyaitoday.com/poisonous-jellyfish/ .
  14. Be Brave
  15. In a southern Thai province having a loaded M16 in his pickup, the man is quite possibly a member of the Volunteer Defense Corps.
  16. Ah-ha, the Mineral Resources Department are having a laugh.
  17. Thanks. I hadn't realised Standard Chartered had divested itself of Standard Bank, reading up I see they sold their remaining stake in Standard Bank Group in 1987.
  18. "The victim’s colleague, Mr. Somphan Sangsuwan, 32, told The Pattaya News the victim was painting the road leading to the foreigner’s condo at 2:50 PM. Mr. Somphan went to the bathroom only to come back to see his friend crying in agony." Seems the guy watching his back had gone to the bathroom.
  19. And the insurgents use them as a ready source of new weapons, you can be sure they stripped them of any guns and ammo before they left the scene. Until the Thai government engage in serious negotiations, that includes the recognition of the local language, and granting more autonomy to the southern provinces, sadly the violence will continue. We've had 20 years of stick to no avail, maybe it's time they tried the carrot.
  20. It's Standard Chartered Bank which is a multinational bank headquartered in the UK. It was created as the result of the merger between two British colonial banks, Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China and Standard Bank of South Africa, way back in the 60s. https://www.sc.com/en/banking/banking-for-individuals/international-banking/
  21. Malaysian immigration are usually pretty good at flipping through and filling in spaces. If you've obvious half pages then shouldn't be an problem.
  22. It's all a matter of perspective, from an American point of view then yes, Anutin did a great job by comparison.
  23. Actually with the potential for being held up for some time at immigration, your van may go on without you. Pre Covid coming through Sadao there was a poor lad ahead of me who was becoming quite frantic because immigration were refusing him entry but the van with his bag on it was waiting on the otherside.
