  1. This is laughable. Thailand already has one of the World's worst road fatality rates. Letting bars stay open later is hardly likely to contribute to that. Punters don't have infinite funds they'll still spend the same amount just at different times as has been shown in other countries that liberalise pub opening hours. The bigger issue facing Thailand is the lack of law enforcement, have the police apply the laws that exist more vigorously and equitably. That's the route to solving many of Thailand's problems, not more, or more restrictive legislation.
  2. Having it charged to your relative's credit card is the obvious solution and probably the only option if you want instant payment by your relative. Alternatively your relative could send the money to you via Western Union, or Wise if you have a Thai bank account, and then you could pay cash directly.
  3. As stated above this is manure. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/cars/news/oxfordshire-county-council-respond-to-viral-article-claiming-oxford-is-going-into-climate-lockdown/ar-AA14Zyd0
  4. My PEA bills have both a QR and a Bar Code that can be scanned with your Thai banking app and payment made. Water authority the same. .
  5. The Thai government guarantee on bank deposits is up to Bht1m. Bank reimbursement for online fraud is on a case by case basis.
  6. Indeed I am with Kasikorn here in Thailand, (Krungsri too) - but no free tractor servicing. They're both perfectly acceptable banks with good online banking. They're used for general living expenses and visa extension requirements. Otherwise money is held in Singapore and the UK.
  7. Whatever, but you accept it isn't registered as a bank in the UK.
  8. Good job they've completed the upgrade of Hat Yai's Rama 1 canal, it's now capable of handling 1,200 cubic meters of water per second, almost triple the original capacity.
  9. Both Monzo and Starling are challenger banks too, but are registered with UK financial services and have UK banking licences; savers are covered by the FSCS compensation scheme. Revolut is NOT registered as a bank, so it's just a challenge in the UK.
  10. I was going to ask what sort of antivirus software you had loading at startup, the update request can flash a black command window. If it is Ccleaner, disable the autorun and see if you lose the command window - just to be sure.
  11. You know what I meant, conventional as in having a high street presence, as well as being online.
  12. Revolut is most certainly NOT a bank in the UK, it has applied to register as a bank but that status has thus far NOT been granted.
  13. Why is this in the Banking Forum? Clearly it belongs in the FreeDumb Forum.
  14. You can also get defrauded from a 'landbased' bank too, always best to not to have all your eggs in one basket, I use both conventional and online banks.
  15. Crossing into Thailand via a 'natural border' rather than the official border crossing using your passport and any necessary visa is a crime.
  16. Revolut is an e-money company that offers digital banking services, but not a UK bank, though it has applied for a UK banking licence. Consequently it presently isn't part of the UK Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) which would guarantee savings up to £85,000 nor has it signed up to the UK Contingent Reimbursement Model Scheme (CRM) which reimburses victims of authorized push payment fraud. Both Monzo and Starling are registered UK banks, so unlike Revolut, covered by both the FSCS and the CRM. Wise is not a bank and doesn't claim to be, it is a simply a peer to peer money transfer company.
  17. I had to go to the bank to set it up the first time, but when I switched phones I didn't, but as the OP said, I did have to turn wifi off and use the SIM for data connection.
  18. I suspect it'll be their gt. gt. grand kids who might get the chance to sabotage them. Just a sad indication of the lack of urgency to resolve either the southern conflict or the antiquated railway.
  19. Check with the private hospitals, Bangkok, Sikarin and Rajindee.
  20. "Vaporiser Shop" - so this has replaced feeding the fishes - you vaporise your enemies now
  21. XE doesn't work from Singapore so no good for me.
