  1. I have to think your Irish pubs will have you covered. Check in at Paddy's and also the Irish place that is on the beach road in the back, I'm forgetting the name as they charged me 100thb for Sangsom and soda (usually a 50-60thb drink). But they have numerous TV's, footy going all the time.

  2. All boxing is shown live in the..ISLANDER BAR..You can also get a good breakfast

SORRY i am late but good fight, good result...the boxer won...MAYWEATHER..

I hope Pacman tells Mayweather "here are the terms to the fight, take it or f**** off".

Yea, ended up being on True Sport 2.

  3. I find that initial post very puzzling. Why would you drive from Bangkok to Lanta via Phuket. Phuket is another 2+ hours drive past the Lanta turnoff, near Krabi. Just worried that you don't know that.

Thanks, but we drove down to Phuket a couple of months ago so have quite an idea. My wife fancied and so did I, an island holiday and I found a real deal at Pimalai...the beach looks great.

My understanding is that the Hau Hin ferry is about one hour from Krabi, so not much more from north Phuket, actually our friends live the other side of the bridge. Anyway, I ment to say that we will be visiting friends (near) Phuket, stay a night or two, silly not to when we have driven all the way from BK. We are retired so time is meaningless.

make sure you go to white roc resort klong nin on a sunday the best roast dinner in thailand

was there last year had a nice selection of wine, I do not know where they get their wine now, it is not the same

  4. How about a Phuket hotel (I'd imagine Phuket Town) that has items in the rooms to make things interesting?

    i.e. basket swing, mirrors......

That's what I thought the OP was referring to when I saw the topic.

Extra guest charges? I think just the higher end hotels and stuffy chains like Accor, Holiday Inn, Best Westerns.

But always good to ask before booking.

  5. Hallo,

just saw the information that the fight will be shown by UBC/True on True Sport 5 (Channel 105) for platinum and gold package members. All other UBC/True subscribers can see it by pay-per view (THB 150).

O.K., good info, now looking for a place in Rawai/Nai Harn/Chalong area that will have it on, that I don't know.

    Anyone?

  6. As amusing as this post was, it's enough to put me off going there. There's something extremely tedious about bar owners wanting to be the center of attention all the time, as if the bar was their living room. You expect it in little beer bars but I wouldn't expect it in a decent place. I'm also highly allergic to bull shit. :)

For sure the post was nothing short of BS so WHOOHOO, I hope you get some cream for those allergenic hives.

No, the host of Freebird is an amiable Canadian, for sure not the center of attention.

So go have a drink there and check it out for yourself.

  7. FREEBIRD BAR.. RAWAI ,GOOD CROWD .GOOD HOST, CHEAP BEER, AND FREE BBQ EVERY FIDAY NIGHT'',,,POOL AND DARTS.. TRY IT...

Been there several times and still have no idea who the "host" is.

    He can't be that good.

It's the super drunk little guy Jackie, you'll often see him where there are balloons.

Claims he played pro baseball in the U.S. for the St. Louis Cardinals though at times he'll say the Philadelphia Phillies. He still hasn't realized you can go online and query that fact, but it's o.k., let an old guy believe his imagination........

Great guy, at times a bit confused.

(Jackie if you see this I'm just giving you a ribbing) Cheers, GOM

  8. How do you know it won't be on Rawai Cable. They always have these big American boxing PPVs on Chalong cable such as Pacquiao Vs Cotto. I am sure it will be on Chalong Cable (they usually are).

    Thanks for responding Zidane.

In the past I only saw the top fights on UBC Platinum, so you are right I do not know for sure that Rawai cable won't have it.

I would be stoked to see Jay at RBFC have it on his tube, so if you know what channel or find out for sure that it'll be there, I'll buy you a beer (or coffee as it's AM) at Jay's.

    Cheers, GOM

  9. It's Saturday night in Vegas so it will show Sunday morning here.

Won't be on Rawai Cable, I think just UBC Gold and Platinum packages will have it.

Anyone know of any South Island spots showing it?

Thanks in advance for any heads up.

    Cheers (go Mosely), GOM

  10. can't help but sigh...all of your observations about the Philippines are true ( almost )...I really appreciate those who like the country for its people, places and culture. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. For those who hate the country, maybe due to bad experiences, I can't blame you but I think it's better for you to keep out of Philippine soil (or water).

I'm a Filipina working in Thailand. Unlike most of you, I didn't come here to see the sites and scenes of Thailand. I'm one of those people who seek greener pastures outside of my country. I can't wait for the time to go back and be with my family.

Just wish my country was as rich as your countries so that we will not have any beggars on the streets or so that the security officers in our malls, banks, and hotels wont have to bring big guns or so we don't have to work overseas and be separated from our families or so that we can prepare a beautiful and lovely place for you to visit...

Just wish my country has a government that is as blemished-free as your governments so that we can live in a corrupt-less society or so that we can have better infrastructures or so that we can have better hospital care etc so that on your next visit..you'd feel comfortable...

Sorry for the inconvenience and discomfort that you felt when you visited my country..It's really sad that my country was not able to satisfy your craving for clean, fun and exciting vacation...maybe we were just busy working so we can eat, we can have roof over our heads and we can have clothes on our body.... I think you really ought to stay in Thailand or some other countries in SE Asia.... We don't really need additional mouths to tell us how ugly and worst our country is....the People of the Philippines is already a handful....

I like Thailand but will not write about it anymore....you have stated how amazing Thailand is over and over and I will not write about the Philippines coz I'd be bias....

I like Thailand but I love the Philippines ( obviously !)

sweetprof24, I first traveled to the Philippines 3 years ago, had been travelling to Thailand since 1990, I have lived here in Thailand for the last 5 years.

I am with you, I like the Philippines. Very exciting country, lots to see and do. I was there just last week, was diving in Subic looking at WWII wrecks, on my next trip I want to dive with the whale sharks at Sorsogon. I look forward to a surf trip there.

In reading your post I felt badly, as yes, it hurts when people bad mouth your country ( I am American), but here on the Forum, people are allowed to state their opinions, so let the bad things people say bounce off of you because you and I both know, the Philippines is a great place.

All the best to you and all the Filipino people here in Thailand that might see this thread. "Sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me".

  11. " The United States urged both sides to seek a peaceful resolution to the weeks-long crisis, which has shut down the Thai capital's retail and hotel heartland, worsening the damage to the economy of the tourist destination."

The Americans trying to control the world again !!

KEEP OUT of Thailands affairs and put you own house in order first This is not your country

The US and Thailand are strong friends and allies, always have been. :)

    You! Keep Out!

Johncat1's post amazed me too, Americans call for a peaceful resolution and the conclusion is they are trying to control the world "again".

Terrible Americans, how dare they ask for a peaceful resolution, Johncat1 wants some blood!

  12. Watching and following this topic as well but too much (still) a gentleman to comment.

    Don it's your turn.........

    Gerd

    I couldn't agree more.

Having known Don for many years, I know his intent was not to bash a recently deceased. On the forum we are all free to comment on restaurants we like and don't like. Take away the fact regarding the recently departed and there is not much of an issue.

I am sure had he known, he would not have posted.

As a fellow TV poster mentioned, Don is probably in Kunming with a few drinks under his belt, I am not condoning the post but just asking for a little understanding regarding the fact he did not know Joe had passed.

    Cheers, GOM

  13. Well, this was quite early so I guess most of the bargirls working in bars on Bangla road weren't awake yet.

For your information, I just snapped away with no thought of who was going to be caught on "film".

Sorry for not having more pictures of babes, next year I will make sure I catch some, ok?

Was just having a go mate, no offense intended.

The pictures are great, thanks for the post.

  14. And not a Red shirt to be seen;

    how refreshing

And not many babes to be seen; how disappointing.

I found that interesting too, but seems to have a few shots of the blokes dancing at Banana......

    Op has to be female.

  15. Hi everybody,
