  1. I'll go there again, the food was fine, not too expensive, 49 baht beers until 8 pm, and they have a foosball table as well as a pool table.

well now if we can get them to have the UBC package with the ASN network, we might have a replacement for Don's Saloon. Might.......

  2. Not going to be a problem Joe.

On the street outside that J Hotel I recommended, both sides of the street have rental bikes.

Show them the real passport, give them a copy, if they balk, just say "o.k. I'll go elsewhere" and they should fold.

    Typically about 150 a day.

  3. Have to admit that the air quality here currently seems less than perfect, but one thing is for sure, it's in a better state than Chiang Mai/Rai provinces right now so I'm quite happy, thank you.

I understood from your handle you were/are in CM (?), that's why the comment.

Ah I see, no matey, Phuket, Patong to be precise, Chiang Mai air's no good for my health I'm afraid.

Hmmmm.......maybe a new handle then? How about "Bier Chiang"?

  5. Bad news.....I had already purchased my bozo the clown outfit for this friday :)

i know just bought a red liverpool top. think had better put that back in the cupbaord

No worries, just tell everybody it is Man U and not Liverpool :D

How about the lummox farang at the Phuket red shirt rally at Cape Panwa a month or so ago. Is this retroactive?

  6. A single home will use a low amount of electricty = the lowest rate charged by Electric Company. A block of apartments will use much more electric = the higher rates charged by Electric Company.

In the house in Rawai I used to always pay 400-600thb per month. Recently, the last three months my bill has been under 300thb, so the government takes care of it, I get bills for 0.

    Gotta love Thailand !

  7. Without wanting to make any kind of rumour starting.. Was it indicated heart attack / normal stuff or anything else (no red jellyfish stings I mean) ??

Had a freak swell in, the surf was bigger than usual for this time of year, maybe he got tumbled.

  8. try www.asiarooms.com or www.agoda.com

Bad advice, that's not going to get the OP local knowledge.

OP - J's Hotel, ask for a room with a view, they just rennovated their bathrooms, made them quite large, also right across the street from RCA which is where the girls are. 600 during low season, probably around 1,000 now.

Ao Nang Village Bungalows, Bao the owner, great guy, very nice people there, bathrooms not as large as J's rooms not quite as nice, but you should be in there for 800, fan rooms 600.

I doubt you'll find either of these on above mentioned websites, but google them, they should come up.

  9. Ocean waters containing low concentrations of phytoplankton appear blue, whereas ocean waters containing high concentrations of phytoplankton may have a wide range of colors - often green, brown, golden brown, or reddish.

OC_redtide3.jpgThe colors you have noticed, red-brown and yellow usually indicate abundant populations of a particular group of phytoplankton called dinoflagellates

    (Info from another website)

Having lived by the ocean all my life I am aware of that and guarantee you that is not the case, if it were you would see the same in Kalim, which you don't.

    It's scheit, not blooms.

  10. Inevitably, the foreigner areas will probably still be selling, but I'm sure the Thai areas will not. You may want to stock up before if you want to have an evening.

Or, you could have a quiet night in, and visit some temples on Sunday! It won't be "Om mani padme hom" though, it will be "Namo tassa, bhagavato, arahato, samma, sambuddhassa".

    Enjoy! :)

    Thanks M007! :D

  11. Many businesses will be closed Monday, my Thai Language school is closed, but a friends TESOL school is open. The holiday is Sunday but many people will make a long weekend out of it. Just remember to treat others as you would have them treat you, put out good thoughts for world peace, and send positive vibrations out to everyone. Aum Mani Padme Aum, and your world will become a better place.

O.K. thanks for the input but I guess what I am after (as I am taking the long weekend in BKK) is will all the bars still be open on Sunday?

  12. Actually Bangsean is ok, a bit like the UK's Cleethorps. We drove there last week but even the road tolls were 110 baht each way. Maybe you could get a bus though, someone on this forum must know. You can hire a deckchair all day for 30 Baht. Go swimming etc etc. Lots of chicks, so go prepared.

Be warned, even if it's overcast all day you will still 'catch' the sun. It never ceases to amaze me, the beaches and bars littered with these red bodied and peeling 'aliens'!! Factor 50 at least!!

I look forward to your memoirs. You would have been much better coming in May as by then the high season would have ended, less visitors, cheaper and more availability of everything..anyway good luck.,

I've had two friends die of melanoma. If you like the colour brown, find yourself a little brown-skinned girl.......most of them will love your white skin.

Yeah, well it's also been proven the sun helps the body to produce vitamin D which is good for you.

I had a friend end up off the balconey of a 20 story building because of said little brown girl.

    Pick your poison mate.
