Asia tourism reopens with big-spending Chinese citizens stuck at home
jippytum replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
big-spending Chinese What planet are you on .Who writes this <deleted> ???? -
Many young men conscripted into the Thai army serve their time by doing menial chores as servants for the officers . At least two ex army prime ministers have permanent rent free homes within army compounds. I suppose the young men will now be growing coriander and the income from the sale will go to who ???

Prayut orders relevant agencies to halt cross-border migration
jippytum replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Another request from our prime minister to the authorities to prevent illegal cross border entry into Thailand Over 30,000 illegal immigrants from neighboring countries have been arrested this year to date for illegal entry into the country. The actual number is probably much higher The huge budget given to the army and border control forces seem unable to prevent illegal immigration on a massive scale during the worst pandemic the country has known. In the meantime police and immigration insist legal tourists and residents jump through hoops on a regular basis with their obsession for petty regulations and paperwork from correctly documented foreigners who had to provide a mountain of paperwork to get here in the first place. -
Bars, Pubs, Go Go and Entertainment Venues
jippytum replied to 4MyEgo's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Being fully vaccinated may prevent death in otherwise healthy people should they contract the virus .However it does not prevent people from catching the virus and passing it on to other people .People who may be the most vulnerable among us . Many major virus clusters have been connected to sports and entertainment venues many of them illegal . Why should people who cannot enjoy a drink other than in a crowded bar or sports venue receive special consideration when well documented evidence has shown them to be irresponsible in the prevention of the covid virus. -
I am resident in Thailand and have received two vaccinations. Now fourteen days since vaccination i wish to book a domestic flight from Bangkok to Chaing Mai after opening November the 1st. I will be staying at a hotel in Chaing Mai. I have received conflicting advice from two airlines departing BKK. also the hotel management. Do i require a full 19 PCR test 72 hours prior to departure.? Another test is required at the airport upon arrival at CNX .Is this a PCR test or a rapid antigen test. A PCR test would cost another 3800 baht + a night in a government hotel waiting for the result. If a rapid antigen test is required at arrival what is the cost and waiting time to obtain the result. The hotel will not accept registration without evidence of two recent negative tests plus double vaccination confirmation plus the Mor Chana app . I think some of the conflicting requirements advised are for international travelers not domestic . To be honest i have no intention of paying 7800 baht++ for two PCR tests when my flight with Thai is 1400 baht .

Thai AMLO Awards Freeland for Help on Major Wildlife Trafficking Case
jippytum replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
what about the Thai construction company owner found guilty and sentenced to prison for poaching and cooking endangered animals .As with most Hi So individuals in Thailand who obtain bail their case never seems to result in the jail term ordered by the court. The 'photo opp when they catch someone mean nothing if the court rulings for killing endangered species are not upheld .- 1 reply

Thailand to introduce 500 baht tourist entry fee from Jan 1st
jippytum replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
People think the old airport departure tax was abolished .It was in fact incorporated into the price of your airline ticket. The vast amount of revenue from every passenger goes where ?? Now the want to charge every entrant to Thailand 500 baht on top of the re entry fee already charged to long stay visa expats. Remember when the cost of a visa extension went up from 500 baht to 1900 baht in one jump . The government are targeting wealthy expats with not so special offers to live in Thailand .At the same time forcing existing expats and tourists to pay the revenue shortfall caused by their greed and incompetence . -

Udon police arrest Swiss expat who killed armed intruder at his home

The Thai guy deserves all he got. I wonder how the wife slept through a vicious brawl in her kitchen that included a shot being fired. Her husband had to wake her up to call the police . I know Thai women like to sleep soundly ...but ????? -
1 have seen many changes since 1986 .Most of the new regulations seem to be to the determent of long stay retired expats who support the local economy . On a political front i have seen many changes in governments. Mainly unsavory people usually ex army seizing power in pursuit of personal wealth. The majority of Thai people accept accept this because Thailand politicians mirror the massive corruption at all levels in Thai society.

Must Read Thailand delays plan to re-open cities to tourists until November
jippytum replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
99.9 percent of expat residents could have told you that weeks ago. never mind the hype people who live here know the situation better than this government and the daily nonsense from its spokesmen. -
The Thai economy , tourism ,local business the stock market etc are all connected currently to the number of covid cases reported on a daily basis . With less testing by government agencies and a big push towards individual self testing does anyone really believe the current reduction in daily positive cases are not being manipulated by a corrupt government .

Sinovac has one big advantage over other vaccines, official says
jippytum replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It can be agreed that Sinovac was available when other vaccines where not available in large numbers. Possibly because the Chinese where working on a vaccine at the same time as working on developing the virus. There is data available that suggests the Sinovac vaccine is below par when compared to other vaccines now available . The purchase from the Chinese of Sinovac in huge orders at this time along with unapproved testing kits . submarines and aircraft carriers would indicate the high profile lobbying from influential Chinese business men based in Thailand has a big influence on the current Thai government . -

Deputy PM promises Phuket everything it needs to fight outbreak
jippytum replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
The officials on Phuket pleaded for the sandbox to reopen the island .Lots of hype and lies to lure a few hundred misguided tourists to the island under false safety assurances .Now the government has agreed to do what it takes to clean up the mess . How about clearing out the greedy people who where clearly wrong to open the Island and put local residents in danger with false assurances and lies. -
More hotel closures expected in Thailand if pandemic drags on
jippytum replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Thai government and immigration have always been paranoid about foreigners having any rights with regard to land and property ownership. It is therefore amazing to witness the Chinese takeover of property and local businesses in recent years .Most of the income from Chinese tourists has been retained by Chinese owned companies with little benefit to the local economy. Many large companies in Thailand are owned by second generation Chinese. Short sited government policies ruled by greed give China a massive advantage in government to government purchases often to the determent of the Thai people . -
