Oh Beloved Bangkok, How So You Have Changed...
Indeed just spent couple of years away I was terrified: how could I live here for almost 25 years? Small things I never paid attention now drive me nuts, prices for food doubled and even tripled., filth'n'dirt almost everywhere... but For some idiotic reason I still feel that "home sweet home" when I'm here. Weird? Indeed!

Mixed kid living in Thailand.
Sweden (unlike other countries) is very straight forward. There are piles of documents have to be filled, translated, legalized and naturized. Will have to start with correct birth certificate, translation and validation at Thai Consulate, Swedish MFA and helluva tasks. In theory it is doable with assistance of proper lawyer ($$$), but (I think) it is Mission Impossible doing by her (mother's) own. sweds are very pedantically driven folks. "Alai-koday" doesn't work there. PS: Even if she will fly to Sweden and pass that test at many private labs, those would render worthless as cell phone bills from AIS or DTAC. I've seen that with AU docs. Worthless. PPS: nope, according to the law the kid is 100% thai, as it was born by thai mother "out of wedlock", but OP was super-lucky to turn it otherwise. Lucky to him and even more luck to his child. Hooray!

Mixed kid living in Thailand.
@fredwiggy my previous post was [obviously] sarcastic. We all know that a kid growing in Thai education system has very low chances of building a significant carrier, but if the kid is "lu-kruang" - almost abysmal. Sorry to say that but its true. And yes, he must stay with his father. No need to discuss. "Must" is the keyword. Even if its an African country - doesn't matter, father is most important. PS: Thai citizenship is seriously over-rated by some foreigners. We can live just fine with our pathetic retirement visas, no need those Elite-Shmelite "Ok, you can stay here 5-10 years" nonsense.

But if you want your child to have happy and healthy childhood >>> Siam is the only solution! @fredwiggy I'm totally agree with your point about "DNA evidence", although documents issued [say] in Sweden won't have the legal status in Thailand. Somehow they must be verified and notarized internationally while Thailand didn't ratify certain convention. @kneebendingfools Won't be easier to start from "correct Birth Certificate"? Licensed DNA Lab might cost you $$$

Mixed kid living in Thailand.
I think this issue is not for that gov but as an evidence for court appeal. obviously DNA matching has no legal value in Thailand, even if you bring papers from the University of Stockholm. However child is 100% thai be cause mother is thai. This is obvious. Also, hospital's staff probably misunderstood that legally "there's no father" and they must correct BC. It is not "up to them" - some dumb nurse misspelled her name so they must correct it.

DNA evidence? Means thai DNA is different from farang DNA, right?

Russian dad’s Phuket heartbreak: Wife bolts, leaves him penniless
I heard exactly this. Judge decided she has to buy it from ex-hubby. Bangkok, land was at Rayong. She was a daughter from some middle level gov. officials, he was (I guess is) a teacher in better than average inter. school. What happened between them I have no idea, but her parents didn't like his farangness, that they lived in the parents house where they enjoyed him doing her next door. They had a small kid that he insisted to send to GB while her parents were very against this idea.

Russian dad’s Phuket heartbreak: Wife bolts, leaves him penniless
Nope. not true. we left without BC. I got it about a month later at local khet office. Bangkok, not Buriram. I don't think - I know guys personally. Legai-shmelegal <<< IDK. Are you a lawyer or just ....? Ooops, IDK that either No <deleted>, Sherlock! What a bold statement! Are you a family shrink as well?

Russian dad’s Phuket heartbreak: Wife bolts, leaves him penniless
Me too. You made a perfect point though: to be near their kid(s) <<< to bask in their presence w/o worrying about their future.

Russian dad’s Phuket heartbreak: Wife bolts, leaves him penniless
I only know that from experience of friends who I knew since last century. Talking about legality is not related to the OP. yes, they toss Thai ID cards and passports at daycare unit, I know. mother might not even have an idea about it. absolutely 🤣

Russian dad’s Phuket heartbreak: Wife bolts, leaves him penniless
It is written in the passport that is was issued in Thailand. kid was born in Thailand as a russkie citizen he has the very own right to go to russia. but likely he won't be able to fly from Russia back to Thailand - yes, he will need both parents permission. And if his mother didn't apply for his thai citizenship and passport - he will be very unfortunate.

Russian dad’s Phuket heartbreak: Wife bolts, leaves him penniless
the moment he gets RU passport he can fly with his dad. Seen that few times. Easy-peasy However if his mother smart enough to write that "ban" and submit it to (i don't know who) than the custody thingy will pop up.

Birth certificate with his name >>> translation + MFA stamp >>> Russian passport >>> airport.

Russian dad’s Phuket heartbreak: Wife bolts, leaves him penniless
what a drama! 2 tickets - sayonara Siam! - privet Russia! free KG, school, healthcare - what could be better for a kid? he will catch local language and will go to school at 7 or maybe a bit later. what future awaits him in Thailand? perhaps orphanage? but my guess is she (his wife) is not an evil in the flesh. Something went wrong and she had no option to abandon his and their son.

You are living in a strange place surrounded by weird people. How unfortunate for them.

Russian dad’s Phuket heartbreak: Wife bolts, leaves him penniless
Russian came to Thailand, got married to thai woman speaking tinglish, got "robbed" and left with a kid. No woman I met will leave a child behind, so there's must be some clue why she left? Also, Magdeev is NOT russian surname AFAIK And at last - he's 57! the best option would be to re-unity his son with thai family (he is khun thai isn't?) and deport that "master of boats" back to Mother Russia.

Bangok condo owner’s 120,000 baht bill for trashed rental - video
Funny that Pay***suck didn't even mention he evaded taxes for years. Shamelessly! Yet he "talk to lawyer"! What a good citizen. For years and years in TH I haven't heard single person pays even 100 THB from the profits he/she/it got from such lucrative passive income.

Lock changed in my condo without any notice
that is petty crime to arrest your property by denying access to your stuff. I had a first hand experience when some "landlord" hanged padlock over doorknob. it is crime, call to police and file a report. also if something is too fishy you can also claim that PS8 is missing from the flat you rented.

Does Thailand actually have General Practitioner doctors in their hospitals ?
not at those hospitals I've been at. some cute girl at reception will send you to the spec. dr. she sees fit. there are no general practioners.

Bangkok taxi driver slashes passenger’s head after overcharge (video)
On the second thought - thais never engage in fight being unprovoked, Just some has skin so thin they explode from basic british humors and funny jests. And indeed they (khun thai - plural form) don't enjoy getting money thrown in their face. Meanwhile they don't feel upset much if somebody farts at the dining table. Figures! I wonder how does this story continue?

Curing Alcoholic people
I can't even look at heavy liquor after some eye-opening event that Buddha sent upon me. As for a beer - good one is far and expensive while local piss - is an insult to even call that word. Yes, some brewery got decent beer but I'm too lazy to travel there for a pint or two. There are few brits living nearby - they found local moonshine and they drink it in the company of moto-whoever. Not very pleasant picture I'd say. Good and kind lads, but man, how can they drink that?!
