  1. What I saw with my own eyes in Bangkok hospitals - there's not. since 2009 till 2017. Are we talking about ISO certified hospitals like Rama IX, Bangkok Hospital, Piyavate, Mario and alike? Or papa-mama clinics? Or Sirirat on the River? Or Chulalonkorn opposite Lumpini Park? >>>> how do those work I don't know honestly. And, by the way, even Bangkok Christian Hospital too, doesn't have racial features.
  2. Nope, wrong call. Actually I got more than enough experience. That scheme of different prices is ... well ... is priceless #ROFL No, there are NO checkboxes on the hospital software that issues invoices for "khun Thai", "FARANG", "Farang Ding-Dong" and "Pee Falang". I know that for sure. "Free market"? Yes, only IF you negotiate BEFORE the deal, not after surgery or any kind of treatment. Yes, you can check prices at restaurant menu and decide what would you eat and yes you are free to call the owner of restaurant to "negotiate" but not after dinner. At Piyavate I saw one "Great White Negotiator" with broken leg in cast. The bill was about 75K he was lecturing some senior doctor that the treatment they provided shouldn't cost that much money and back in Italy he would pay fraction of. So he refused to pay. Leaving passport as collateral brings another story - dude left his passport at police station, Phuket, next morning he was in Bangkok >>> Bang Rak police station to report "stolen passport" >>> his Embassy >>> CW >>> airport >>> home. PS: Unless you posses charisma of Silvio B. who were able to convince any person into anything 😉
  3. Obviously they do filtering at the back of their house. Yes water might pass the today's test but not tomorrow's. There're paper strips to check chemicals in water but unfortunately we must study organics in such water - that will cost more than set of strips ))) Another option is to add potassium permanganate into that water but not many like the taste and looks weird. back in 90s "light purple water" was everywhere.
  4. yes, good idea. almost 19 liters for 12 thb?! What company do you use? Very attractive price
  5. At central reservoir it is almost safe to drink, but the main issue is "last mile" - pipes that bring it to your house. Some are very old and filthy - so no, you can't use it for human consumption. But full scale filter + RO clean it just fine. Although we still buy bottled water at 7/11
  6. To negotiate with "the hospital" is a joke, bad advice. Exactly who is in charge of accounting and who makes decisions on post-payments or credits? Who will sign up for you? Nobody wants to take responsibilities and possible headache. Still, it is only $11K and he is working in Thailand. Or there's something missing? PS: Sad story, and sorry for unfortunate guy
  7. 400K is about $11K The only asset he has is motocye. He is working in Thailand and stays here for 10 years but doesn't have an insurance Yet after accident he went to private hospital And seems that he wants to get away. Ok, heard those stories from friend (working at Piyavate Hospital Bangkok) every time I meet him. About few times a week.
  8. the pleasure is all mine, your reply is an essence of pure wisdom and wit.
  9. I won't dare, you excellence. If I dare the AN's server will explode from replies with gallons of bile and witty advices for me to go and shmoonk myself asap. Nothing special, your kindness, nothing.
  10. Dear @stoner, us have different grasp on term "veteran" I assume. And term "tour" as well. Meanwhile I found it very peculiar why Trump choose JD? They are so different! From different galaxies - that much. What's in common between them? I can only say there's something sinister behind his flashy smile and over-cheerful performance at RNC.
  11. That was a single counter measure against those very arrogant people. In 3 houses around that dog house were old and very old people (70++), very often they woke up in the middle of the night with problems to go to sleep again. When their kids (30+) visited them on weekends and tried to talk to that dog family (nicely and politely) >>> brought no results at all. Dog's hose kids bought big bike with damaged or removed silencer - so the whole village know they are coming or leaving. Quite village with very nice and decent people was terrorized by this family. Sure-sure, very sick bastard we should meditate instead, right? Recite mantras? Dance babushka?
  12. Yes, JD posses that vicious cynical look he's hiding behind "easy-going everybody's pal" appearance. And no, JD is not veteran, he didn't fight to defend his country.
  13. Opposite our house used to live a family of farang + thai wife + 2 luk-kruang boys and 2 medium to big size mongrels. Nobody train them, discipline them and gave them some basic "don't do thats" - so they barked whenever they fancied, howled and whipped. During night and early morning hours especially. Neighbors talked to farang - useless, his LBFM wife - useless, called police - no effect. Until we bought 4 sets of solar-powered Dazers from E-bay (ultrasound sirens) with motion detectors and neighbors attached those to walls opposite the dog house. One dog went crazy and chew his paw off, another hid himself in the corner and didn't make a slight noise, didn't eat much and one day they drove him away - I think they sent him the "Every Dog's Heaven". Ultrasound Dazer is "must have" here as well as pepper spray telescopic stick.
  14. Indeed! Amazing $200 only! Baltic countries are $1K up.
  15. Yes, rather burglaries, less robberies. North-West of Bangkok.
  16. there's a bunch of very long-overstayed farangs in Cha-Am doing summer camps and they are not from Africa, Middle East or some exotic places. Really don't care = 500thb and problem solved.
  17. Robberies are happening on daily basis in Bangkok committed by thais not foreigners. Its a big city after all. a bunch of columbians in possession of screwdrivers? a drop in the ocean of crimes.
  18. any mutt on the street (outdoor) w/o leash and mask is dangerous and should be catapulted to Dog's Heaven of Eternal A*s Sniffing. just like flies and mosquitos There are many ways to do so some are very efficient and funny, some are quite brutal but who cares? I don't buy the idea "let my puppy run around the village" esp. when "a puppy" is a dumb AST exploring area near kindergarten.
  19. you go to school and pretend you're real teacher while kids openly dispise you [as a teacher]
  20. Still, Vanessa Mae was really "cool". She finnished her slope when everyone were gone, including sausage vendor and hot coffee dispencer. Journalists and TV guys left even earlier...
  21. Yes, that is the best approach. Normally I mentioned my Embassy requirements (long before this year taxing changes). Worked miracles.
  22. Basic greed. I threaten our (former) landlord that I will report her to revenue department and she demanded us to leave within month. So I submited all payments details for last 2+ years. Don't know what happened later
  23. Get a stick an try to hit its head with full strength. Or cary telescopic one - not expensive though.
