  1. I have read your post again, and it seems pretty clear to me that you are concerned about getting electrocuted whilst charging in a downpour. Sorry if I got that wrong. Regardless, you seem to be now saying that the point of your post was to highlight the fact that, without shelter, people charging are gonna get wet. When charging there's no need to stand beside your car, so a simple umbrella would keep you dry for the short time it takes to hook up to the charger.
  2. I really wish people would do some research before coming on here and talking codswallop. A quick Google came up with this: "You can charge an electric car in the rain. In fact, charging an electric car in the rain is no different to charging it in any other weather condition, as the charging systems on EVs are designed to withstand the elements and remove any potential risks associated with charging in the rain. This means that, no matter what the weather is like, EV charging is always possible. Is it safe to charge an electric car in the rain? Don’t worry, it’s perfectly safe. The EV charging components is entirely sealed and built to withstand water intrusion, so there’s no danger of electrocution. So, if you're worried about charging your electric car in the rain or any other type of weather, don't be - it's 100% safe." And if you haven't seen many outdoor chargers in Thailand, maybe you should get your eyes tested.
  3. You had a phone call from "him" this morning and he told you "UK dealers they dont want to accept them as they have found it very hard to sell on." I see.
  4. Simple Google reveals: BMW warrants high-voltage lithium-ion batteries in its electric vehicles from defects in material and workmanship for 8 years or 80,000 miles in the USA. In Europe and Thailand, it's 8 years and 160,000 kms (100,000 miles).
  5. So, the battery warranty was not longer than 3 years? What EV does not have, at least, a 3 year battery warranty?
  6. Dashcam question: I have an IROAD dash cam, front only. Supposed to be very good. Certainly expensive, but a nightmare for me to operate and use the app. I am not good with apps and tech and I would like to change it for something that is simple to use. Question: Can I simply unplug my camera and replace it with a different model using the same, already installed cable?
  7. Yes! What's the deal with this? Drives me nuts. I’m glad someone agrees with me! I can understand your and you’re, there, their and they’re, and even should of instead of should have. But then and than? They are two unconnected words with completely different meanings and it seems to be only Americans who can’t differentiate between them. All I can think is that, possibly, a lot of Americans pronounce the two words the same and this causes confusion, whereas, in the UK, they are pronounced quite differently.
  8. Being unable to differentiate between the words then and than.
  9. Sorry, I mistook the link for one of your many, similar looking advertisements. Silly me!
  10. Sorry for any confusion, but we've been discussing EV Station PluZ which is the station featured in Bjørn's video a few posts earlier. It stops charging 10 minutes before the hour.
  11. You're almost right! It's actually 10 minutes before the booking slot. I know Bjørn says 5 minutes in the video, but I'm pretty sure he's wrong.
  12. This is his report on EV Station PluZ. We've used these stations several times. Admittedly, the first time we used one, it was a little confusing. But now we understand it and have the hang of it, it's quite simple and works well.
  13. I've got a different thoughts on this. I bought an MG ZS EV in 2019. I cannot imagine how it would have been wiser for me to have bought an ICE MG ZS in 2019 and then replaced it with a ZS EV in 2022, as you have done. With regard to the range: yes, my older model has the smaller battery but I'm easily getting 320 kms on a 100% charge - like you, beating MG's advertised/official figures. I don't need more than that. What's "IP69 vs 67"? What's "fixing a moisture issue"?
  14. I don't know for certain, but they probably couldn't easily fly with it. I know for a fact that they were leaving Thailand by plane, so that's likely to be the reason. You'd be amazed at the stuff some people leave behind.
  15. Thank you for taking the time to explain so that a numpty like me can understand. Appreciated!
  16. The tenants who recently vacated my condo left this behind (see attached photo). Can anyone tell me, in non-technical language, what it is, please?
  17. Granny charging draws about the same power as an electric iron - about 2.2kW. There really shouldn't be a problem. As an experiment, I recently plugged my granny charger into a normal outlet in my girlfriend's parents' modest, rural house in Nakhon Si Thammarat for about 3 hours. Worked perfectly. Nothing tripped or heated up.
  18. Far out, man! Sri Racha is where it’s at! Make sure you have plenty of bread with you; you may meet some other groovy chicks on your trip. And remember: make love, not war.
  19. I'm confused. You wrote: "Chinese cars are still poor quality today." I asked you: "How do you know that?" And that's your answer above - there appears to be more complaints for Tesla compared to the Chinese make, BYD. Sorry if I'm missing something.
