  1. <snipped for brevity> No, just providing some facts which is rare in MAGA world
  2. Sure. PRC restricted imports of Australian wine, lobsters, etc due to supporting trump rhetoric. https://www.dfat.gov.au/trade/organisations/wto/trade-monitoring-and-reviews/wto-trade-policy-review-china-trade-2021-australia-statement#:~:text=China's measures have severely limited,%2C grains%2C and table grapes.
  3. Firstly you have no power whatsoever. I'll give you prior governance under British rule did supress minorities , bot not genocide as carried out by US government "Manifest Destiny". Australia has Free Speech, but cracking down on Hate Speech. Firearms are licensed in Australia for those that need them e.g. farmers. But enough now, going way off topic.
  4. Cost the Australian economy $billions for supporting trump ideology regards PRC
  5. During trump's prior presidency the US trade gap grew by hundreds of $billions, in other words his trade policy was a failure, yet ten of millions of Americans voted for trump 2024 to address economic issues. Trump imposed a 50% tariff on imports of washing machines in 2018. Researchers estimate the value of washing machines jumped by around 12% as a direct consequence, equivalent to $86 per unit, and that US consumers paid around $1.5bn extra a year in total for these products. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c20myx1erl6o
  6. In comparison, a bit. trump is a pathologic liar, what was the number when he was in power - oh Yes 30,000 plus Never seen you MAGA people acknowledge trump's insistent lying and taking up conspiracy stuff from the far right.
  7. Prefer someone like Forbes. There is a lot of toing and froing, I agree with.... Voters usually punish presidents when the economy is poor and reward presidents when the economy is strong, but no matter who sits in the Oval Office, their actual power over economic conditions is limited. The pandemic-era recession and post-pandemic inflation binge were both worldwide phenomena. And while both Biden and Trump have touted lower gas prices at various points, the price often has more to do with supply and demand than government policy. Most importantly, the real kingpin of economic growth and inflation arguably isn't the president—it's the Federal Reserve chair. https://www.forbes.com/sites/dereksaul/2024/11/01/how-the-economy-really-fared-under-bidenharris-and-trump-from-jobs-to-inflation-final-update/
  8. Biden in Pittsburgh sought to contrast his approach as "strategic and targeted" and has said Trump's broader approach would raise costs for U.S. consumers. https://www.npr.org/2024/05/10/1250670539/biden-china-tariffs-electric-vehicles You may find the article below of interest: https://www.politico.com/news/2024/05/15/biden-tariff-reaction-trump-00158043
  9. Provide credible link to support your opinion. Plus take up you complaint with the author of the article
  10. take up your complaint with the author. Got to say I don't recall MAGA referencing a rational argument
  11. From the OP: Only 11.1 percent of Americans currently fall beneath the poverty line, about the same percentage as under Trump and just barely above the lowest point in 50 years, and while many bitterly remember the high inflation that started receding last year, wages have risen faster than inflation over the past two years, and real wages are higher than they were before the pandemic hit, and U.S. oil production has hit record levels. Another talking point, there will be others regards energy, finance etc...one thing for sure if trump actually implements tariffs etc, consumer costs will rise What presidents can and can't do to lower grocery prices https://www.politico.com/interactives/2024/food-cost-price-harris-trump-biden/
  12. The OP is talking to trump's claim that the US economy today is in the worst shape it has even been, which is clearly false based on statistics presented in the article.
  13. Seems to me the group winning first prize for whining is trump & co.
  14. No. You're using the classic right of centre argument, accusing others of exactly what they are doing as a "look there" deflection attempt.
  15. That's your POV and why I always hesitate to reply to you. You have confirmed my view of you, accordingly will not reply to your baiting any further - good bye
  16. You don't think trump will attempt to abuse his power as he did last time he was in power? You will be seriously disillusioned
  17. I did not write the article, but No I didn't just wear blue suits and red ties when working professionally, nor did my colleagues.
  18. In comparison to trump, Yes. trump continuously promotes conspiracy stuff, lies, misinformation and disinformation both in and out of power.
  19. Not biting for you to argue otherwise. Some reading for you which covers the matter.... Will the Republican-controlled Senate save America from Trump's Cabinet? | Opinion
  20. Good description of trump / MAGA world
  21. Exactly what, in your opinion, is incorrect with the OP article. Occurs to me many of the prospective appointees are sycophants without relevant experience, just following MAGA world conspiracy BS - just as trump promised he would do to please his followers.
  22. Yes it's an opinion piece, which one can agree or disagree. Personally I concur with the author's concerns. However, OP is not regards election, but the Cabinet appointees proposed by trump, many of whom have right of centre authoritarian leanings. Likely some will not pass scrutiny
  23. Totalitarianism seeks dominion over the individual to the point where individuality is erased. That’s what happened to the Republican Party. Individuals have looked the same, talked the same, acted the same and thought the same for a long time. (The men sometimes literally dress the same as Donald Trump, with a blue suit, a long red tie.) After the election, however, Republican behavior has finally been totalized. Totalitarianism also seeks to dominate the individual’s mind by going to war against facts, reason, science and any useful meaning of the word “proof.” In normal times, pre-Trump, we could expect in the Senate a spirited debate over a president-elect’s cabinet nominations, beginning with whether they’re qualified. Such debate is going to be impossible now, because “being qualified” is a meaningless term. Trump's Cabinet of horrors exposes his totalitarian drift | Opinion
  24. Obviously depends on % tariff placed on a particular country. trump has indicated some very large tariff impositions as an economic / foreign policy tool. You may like to review the following... https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/trump-favors-huge-new-tariffs-how-do-they-work
