  1. Guardian is a highly respected reporting platform. Yes, it's opinion pieces lean left.
  2. I checked Operation Mockingbird. It was a program to identify intelligence leaks during JFK's admin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Mockingbird
  3. Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what has Liz Cheney call for a more moderate conservative party formation got to to with the left and "war mongers". Both Cheney's have now disavowed their prior support for sponsoring armed conflict. in M.E. Admittedly after a number of grievous judgement calls.
  4. Given the population of Gaza is approx 2 million with a huge population density, with an estimated 41,000 deaths the figures above make zero sense. Same for Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan, WW11 etc etc. The UN may be referring to total numbers of civilians affected including displacement etc, but still do not make a logical case.
  5. Comments were made by Liz Cheney, not me. However, please translate you jargon - thanks
  6. No the article made claims concerning civilians. The author was not in Lebanon, he made unproven assumptions. Will not bother further with you, just accept we have differing POVs. concerning killing and injuring of civilians.
  7. Your choice, so who came up with 'operatives". Remember it is known two Hezbollah health workers were murdered as well as two children - were they 'operatives' to be dismissed as irrelevant?
  8. Given they operate in a Shiite area there is no surprise whatsoever mainly young men. The original purpose of the booby traps were to be activated during an actual attack on Israel; obviously would have been a very effective disruptive operation. Time to move along...
  9. Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) indicated in an interview at The Capital Times Idea Fest in Madison, Wisc., that conservatives could end up forming a new kind of conservative party, arguing that “far too much has happened that’s too damaging” in the Republican Party. https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/4892415-liz-cheney-new-republican-party/
  10. I guess you're referring to the Newsweek article written by a person at West Point. Regards civilians the author has made a claim without substantiation. So far Human Rights Watch mentions some known civilian deaths of two children and two health workers, but not injuries, other than mentioning videos of injuries. Right now I cannot locate estimated number of civilians employed, but fighter estimates vary from 20,000 to 100,000 which indicates a large number of civilians working for Hezbollah https://www.hrw.org/news/2024/09/18/lebanon-exploding-pagers-harmed-hezbollah-civilians
  11. In a war zone I would assume the civilians would be alerted for medical / rescue / supply chain issues, meetings incoming attack alerts and so on
  12. Let's see your source URL. I find it difficult to believe just a few days after the attacks with about 3500 injured they would know now many non combatants were injured across Lebanon and Syria. As I said a large number of civilians work for Hezbollah, I would assume their is no alternative for them, plus Hezbollah being a component of government.
  13. As you would expect Lebanese government has many problems trying to govern. The political wing of Hezbollah, who are represented in the Lebanese government, carry out some essential services for civilians, Christian and Shiites, plus serves as a propaganda platform for Hezbollah https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hezbollah#:~:text='Party of God') is,party in the Lebanese Parliament.
  14. Fair enough to attack those with the Hezbollah military wing though I am unsure if booby trapped personal devices are permitted in the Rules of War. However, Hezbollah has many civilians working for them in the medical profession, charities and so on in Lebanon. It would be interesting to know how many civilians were killed or wounded.
  15. trump also called the media "enemy of the people' when reporting factually. How about doing some fact checking before posting trump / MAGA BS.
  16. usual pathetic response
  17. An op out by trump. Rather than clearly stating he will accept the vote / Electoral College outcome, he says will only accept if he deems it's "fair". In other words more BS, trump will only consider the election 'fair' if he wins. Accordingly no surprise trump and his enablers are trying to undermine the vote by attempting to disenfranchise Dem voters. Plus of course his ongoing attacks on US institutions such as the judiciary. The current threat is also unique in that Trump has learned from his previous term where the choke points of American democracy lie. Unlike Adams, Johnson and Nixon, he threatens to recapture the presidency with a clear roadmap for toppling the traditional checks on the office. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/jun/20/trump-threat-democracy-precedents
  18. Splitting hairs...Anything to say concerning trump and co trying to disenfranchise Dem voters or are you going to try and deny. Former President Donald Trump refused to unconditionally accept the results of the upcoming 2024 presidential election in an interview Wednesday with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/02/politics/donald-trump-accept-2024-election-results/index.html
  19. Trump has already stated he will not accept the results if he loses, probably will lead to civil strife. In the meantime Republicans are investing lot of effort to disenfranchise Dem voters. e.g. https://www.vox.com/scotus/367701/supreme-court-arizona-rnc-republicans-mi-familia-vota
  20. Legislation is already in-place to deport illegals if they are convicted of a sex crime, plus their will be other crimes meeting the criteria for deportation. Obviously one hopes they serve their sentence prior to deportation.. As mentioned above it's Republicans posturing for political gain. There were a number of objections raised to the Bill; URL provides some detail. https://abcnews4.com/news/local/us-house-passes-rep-maces-bill-to-deport-undocumented-migrants-convicted-of-sex-crimes-violence-against-women-by-illegal-aliens-act-united-states-congress-wciv-abc-news-4-2024
  21. Why would legal migrants (Springfield) need to eat dog /cats, are they treated so poorly they are starving? In any case Vance has admitted he was lying about this matter to gain attention - IMO an act of complete stupidity demonising people for political gain, same goes for trump - both unfit to represent the Office of President and VP of USA; perhaps Dominican Republic is suitable.
  22. Usual nonsense from MAGA world, it's why it's pointless to reply to MAGA questions.
  23. You no doubt already know, numerous sources e.g.... https://www.msnbc.com/the-reidout/watch/jd-vance-now-admits-to-lying-about-haitian-immigrants-eating-pets-on-purpose-219492933816 https://www.msnbc.com/the-reidout/watch/jd-vance-now-admits-to-lying-about-haitian-immigrants-eating-pets-on-purpose-219492933816
  24. “How about in Springfield, Ohio, they had 32,000 – this is a little beautiful town, no crime, no problem – 32,000 illegal immigrants come into the town,” Trump said. “So they almost double their population in a period of a few weeks. Can you believe it? And you know what? They’ve got to get much tougher. I’m going to go there in the next two weeks. I’m going to Springfield.” The city of Springfield states on its website that “YES, Haitian immigrants are here legally, under the Immigration Parole Program. Once here, immigrants are then eligible to apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Haiti is designated by the Secretary of Homeland Security for TPS. Current TPS is granted through February 3, 2026.” NB: To gain entry via the Immigration Parole Program the applicant must be sponsored First Trump said Haitian migrants in Ohio were ‘eating the pets’. Now he says they’re ‘destroying America’ (msn.com) Program that allows 30,000 migrants from 4 countries into the US each month upheld by judge | AP News
  25. Media reports claim the Israelis had planned to us the explosive devices if Hezbollah launched a ground attack. It is claimed Hezbollah were starting to raise suspicions so Israel triggered the devices earlier than planned. A devastating attack on morale and headcount. I assume Lebanon are very limited in their options for response to which their PM has declared a breach of sovereignty (act of war). A similar attack has taken place for those using walkie talkies., hundreds injured.
