  1. The hospital is operated by the Gaza government i.e. Hamas, so not surprising some Hamas members were located at the hospital. At the same time the hospital would have provided medical services for locals. The hospital is actually named after a politician who was a senior member of Black September / PLO and was killed by Israeli forces. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamal_Adwan
  2. As a clarification, the context of my use of 'opinion": a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. Of course Hamas are responsible for this current war, but some of the statements coming out of the mouths of some Israeli politicians can only be described as equally evil. There is no point for any further response from me; I have no solution, just revulsion for the actions and words of both parties. One hopes for some great soul at some point in the future to bring Peace.
  3. For me it's a matter of opinion: I do not hold the viewpoint that the alleged killing of currently nearly 19,000 civilians in Gaza is 'justified'. Recently it's speculated the IDF assault on Gaza will take approx another two months to destroy Hamas killing machine so G_d knows how many more civilians will be killed and for what purpose as currently no-one has articulated the end game.
  4. For a stater how about using solely guided munitions as opposed to 50%+ dumb bombs.
  5. On the other side of the coin perhaps thousands of Gazan children would be alive today if Israel had not conducted, as claimed by Pres Biden, indiscriminate bombing. Apparently past due for the Israeli's to wind back the level of aggression.
  6. Easy, older single men in Australia usually cannot get laid. Accordingly, move to places like Thailand where it is relatively inexpensive to fulfil their sexual needs.
  7. The Australian government says it will halve the migration intake within two years in an attempt to fix the country's "broken" immigration system. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-67609963
  8. Kindly provide proof of my anti Sematic support. BTW never expressed support for any source of terrorism, so please cease your nonsense.
  9. Neither a member of the 'intolerant left' or 'free Palestine cult'. Hopefully you can learn from Morchs' posts which are based on local knowledge.
  10. Cannot understand why someone would post such pathetic commentary, though not unexpected.
  11. The oppressor is always better off then the oppressed. Hamas personnel would have better access to food and so on than the general population of Gaza. However, your comment is yet another example of ignorance from some members.
  12. Diabetes is not just a chronic illness in well off societies. Diabetes is also associated with poorer countries due to bad diet. lack of exercise and medical care, Gaza being a well known example.
  13. Concerning conflicts, as you know, as of its self, UN has no power of enforcement and heavily constrained by organisational . structure for decision making e.g. Security Council. However, UN does deliver a great deal of services for the less fortunate. Anyway... Secretary-General Strongly Condemns Attack by Hamas. https://press.un.org/en/2023/sgsm21981.doc.htm What has the UN done and said on the Israel-Palestine conflict? https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/10/25/what-has-the-un-done-on-the-israel-palestine-conflict
  14. Thanks for the time you've invested in the above; as you know I do respect your knowledge concerning Israeli / Arab issues. Just on the issue of allegations of Israeli "genocide" it is not a stance I concur with. After all the words I still cannot fathom what Hamas were expecting to achieve. Concerning civilian casualty rates I assume the Israeli War Cabinet makes the decision on numbers political acceptable or not. With the IDF leaving no place untouched in Gaza one assumes the death ratio between Israelis and Gazans in the current conflict will significantly increase. So far as I know there is nothing in the public space talking to 'what next' when the Israelis achieve their declared objective: thoughts?
  15. Hamas are the government of Gaza, though they haven't held elections since they 'won' in 2006 and took over in 2007.
  16. Rather than posting asinine commentary, read the article.
  17. Please stop posting misinformation. I did not declare support for Hamas though I have sympathy for the mass killings and destruction of civilians and their property. Would be interesting to know what pressure is being applied to Qatar for shielding Hamas leadership.
  18. The Allies deliberate bombing of populated areas during WW11 was termed "Terror Bombing". Churchill acknowledged "Terror Bombing" was a terrible moral dilemma. https://digital-commons.usnwc.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1000&context=newport-papers Obviously the Israeli's have made the decision extensive mass destruction of civilians and property are morally justified, whether the decision will stand up to scrutiny by democratic societies is an open question.
  19. Originally went to Thailand on my way back to Oz from the UK in 1987. Spent a few weeks on Koh Samet with a bar girl and loved the place. Met my now wife in 1995 on holiday in Phuket. After living in Oz moved to Thailand when I retired at 62 and bought her a house, something I had promised her as a thankyou for being together and always working to support ourselves. After a few years moved back to Oz to claim my pension. Unfortunately diagnosed with cancer and cannot afford to return and live in Thailand due to the ongoing medical treatment costs. When I die, wife will return to Thailand (Pattaya) to be close to her family. In the meantime will return to Thailand next year for a few months for a holiday and to enjoy living in our own place for a while.
  20. Content of above post deleted for brevity Unfortunate to post 'who cares' regards staying on topic. it is obvious you haven't read the OP content link so I ask you please do not post again in this topic until you have done so.
  21. As a reminder... The changes make it illegal by a public act to incite hatred or serious contempt or to severely ridicule a person or group because of their religious belief, affiliation or activity. Vilification is defined as abusively disparaging speech or writing.
  22. Just a reminder below of the context of the OP, it is not about cost of living. The changes make it illegal by a public act to incite hatred or serious contempt or to severely ridicule a person or group because of their religious belief, affiliation or activity. Vilification is defined as abusively disparaging speech or writing. As to other matters raised, I trust you or your friends who move to Thailand will have sufficient funds for medical care or will you run back to the 'nanny state' if you are critically ill and facing bills of millions of baht e.g. cancer? Regards being 'free' in Thailand, as claimed by some members, it is crystal clear some members are ignorant of the laws of Thailand.
