Wall Street Rebounds Sharply as Trump Softens Tariff Stance
simple1 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Stock trading is not unusual in Congress by all sides of politics, some caught out for insider trading. Why stock trading is not banned for members of Congress I do not know. Got the link that proves Pelosi was convicted for insider trading. Concerning trump and family they have been caught out a number of times for corrupt practises, usually settling out of Court or as you know pending prosecutions waived when he regained Presidency. Personally given his track record over the years I am convinced trump and Co have got away with many criminal / corrupt practices. trump's distain for the less well off tells me he never sorted his debts with the working class when he regained his wealth after his many bankruptcies. If you have a credible link proving otherwise happy to be disproved. -
Wall Street Rebounds Sharply as Trump Softens Tariff Stance

Especially for those in the "inner circle". Be interesting to read who made significant trades in the hours before the announcement. -
Except for PRC, tariffs have now all been suspended for 90 days with a generic 10 % for all countries with an associated leap in US stock prices.. I would guess there are people making a fortune from insider knowledge.. Let's here from MAGA world how you now change your tune - LOL. https://www.reuters.com/world/trumps-latest-tariffs-loom-set-deepen-global-trade-war-2025-04-09/

No it's not my "plan", I'm not engaging with your BS. How about re-plying point by point to Walker88 to demonstrate your grasp of trump's edicts
-
MAGA people really do need a reality check; refer below... The European Commission says it charges an average tariff of just 1% on US products entering the EU market, "considering the actual trade in goods". It adds that the US administration collected approximately €7 billion of tariffs on EU products in 2023 compared to the EU's €3 billion on US goods.

I note you haven't responded to Walker88 suggestions other than sneer; most probably why most have declined to engage in your game. Regards trump rejection it's mostly instinct, that he also claims as his guide, to reject his decisions which can be easily rolled back as he is governing by Executive Order rather than by enacted legislation Personally I see it as as self evident that trump is very heavily guided by the paleo conservatives influencers is his Administration, which needs to be turned around as it's quickly eroding US ethics and reputation.

Are you claiming Trump lied? President Trump on Wednesday repeatedly suggested it was a mistake that former President Biden did not preemptively pardon himself before leaving office. https://www.newsnationnow.com/politics/trump-suggests-it-was-a-mistake-biden-didnt-pardon-himself/

So nothing to do with trump either way. I trust he ceases bragging if stock market stabilises - lol

Since trump came to power US stocks have lost over 11 trillion dollars, how long do you think it will take to recoup the losses as well as US creditability / respect from what were it's allies. Remember Allies were leverage for US power both militarily and trade. In the meantime what will be the cost in extra taxes (tariffs) for the US tax payer?
-
Because the Senate failed to comply with their Oath to support the Constitution. It's very clear the Constitution as written does not serve current times to address corruption and lack of ethics by elected political representatives. I suggest to get an updated Constitution passed is now impossible, signalling the downfall of the US as a world power. Same as UN which is locked into a superseded Security Council which is frozen in the past.

Asking a clarification question is not arrogance
-
That was a one off, not global tariffs, for a specific requirement
-
Global Order originating with the Marshall Plan was to the strategic advantage of the US i.e. Peace and Trade. Remember at the end of WW11 USA held approx 70% of the world gold reserves. World Order / the Rule of Law is still to the advantage to the US except in the weird paleo Conservative mind set of Miller and Navarro. I seriously doubt trump is capable of developing a New World order or more precisely he has yet to coherently articulate. In fact quite to the reverse, isolationism, to use your words, will lead to the economic death of America. My comment of arrogance or perhaps hubris is the better word is my reaction to your post, to quote: its ours to mess with as we choose. Its so much fun to see y'all screech, cry, yell in rage and then grovel.

Astounding arrogance, bot not unexpected from MAGA world. Out of curiosity do you post this stuff to flame?
-
The big concern is Vance, he appears to be equally fanatical. If the opportunity arising it will take a lot of effort and time to restore Global Order and Trade.. As an example trump Admin declined to appoint Appeal Judges to WTO,. Accordingly appeals will sit in limbo for a very long time.

The left wants to destroy the Greatest country on Earth.

You're correct. Being on Oz and UK citizenship I mistakenly thought of the other NATO countries for supporting 2003 invasion -
The left wants to destroy the Greatest country on Earth.

Would have still supported USA for trade, now? perhaps not. Unfortunately the Allies stupidly also supported US invasion of Iraq. -

My wife has had that said to her when speaking in Thai with a friend in public. I taught her to reply "when you go to me country speak Thai" -
3 Million Afghans in Pakistan Being Forced to Leave

A few of your posts had generalised commentary tuned to racist memes e.g. Just because the west allows any Harry, Dick or terrorist in that fronts up on a leaky boat does not change the fact that every country has a right to determine whom it allows into, or stays in it. While the prospects for them doesn't look good, perhaps a certain organisation can arm them as an opposition to the taliban. -
You're omitting a number of issues. What's the relevance of any debts Ukraine may have with EU in the context of trump's tariffs? US stocks lost two trillion dollars in value within a day of trump' announcement Job losses in US due to the tariffs Increased cost of living for the less well off in the US Just about every political leader has denounced the stupidity of trump's blanket tariffs negatively affecting worldwide trade, including the US economy. Le Pen’s Ban Fuels Hard-Right Narrative of Persecution
simple1 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Only reason trump wasn't convicted of his primary offences against the Constitution which would have banned him from Office was the utter failure of Republican GOP to stand by their Oath to defend the Constitution;. Absolutely no surprise Trump and Co now stand by Le Pen. Le Pen is also a supporter of Putin as are a number of other European far right party leaders in Europe. Notice how they all sing the same song and also all blame the left for exactly what they' themselves are doing - the well worn diversionary tactic of "look there"!
