  1. I think you could buy the Developer's Edition, which is unlocked, for $649.

    http://www.motorola.com/us/shop-all-mobile-phones/moto-x-developer-edition.html

There are some rumors it might show up on the Play Store. Believe the Nexus 5 might be a better price/performance proposition; that's the model I plan to buy.

The rumored low-cost version, Moto DVX, is not out yet.

I doubt the Moto X would be localized for the Thai market.

  2. NSA employee spied on 9 women for 6 years

The employee of the main US government surveillance organization was able to secretly intercept the phone calls of nine foreign women for six years without ever being detected by his managers, NSA’s internal watchdog has revealed.
This odd spying case came to light only after one of the women, who happened to be a US government employee, told a colleague that she suspected the man - with whom she was having a relationship - was listening to her calls, the British daily The Guardian has reported.
  3. Re: SM-N9500 internal memory: pretty sure the stock, base-model, local MSRP of 23,500 THB, has 32 GB. There may be a 64 GB variant available in some markets. This does not include the 3 GB of RAM or the up to 64 GB possible with a uSD card.

At least that's what the Samsung sites say.

    http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote3-gear/spec.html

Typically Samsung Thailand localizes one, single variant.

In the past, most of the variants with more memory, be it 32 GB or 64 GB - if the base model has 16 GB - have shown up as carrier-branded/subsidized models, in the U.S and a few other countries.

  4. You could look for the N9002 model in those countries where multiple SIMs are a requirement: India, China, etc.

    More SGN3 variants:

    SM-N9000 International variant

SM-N9002 Dual Sim variant for Chinese Market

    SM-N9005 LTE variant
SM-N900K for KT Telecom South Korea
    SM-N900L for LGU+ South Korea
SM-N900S for SK Telecom South Korea
    SM-N900A for AT&T United States
    SM-N900T for T-Mobile USA
    SM-N900V for Verizon Wireless
    SLC22 for KDDI AU Japan
SGH-N075 and SGH-N099 for NTT Docomo Japan
  5. You can order on the 18th from true, 23500 baht for the octacore processor one year insurence and 32 gb micro sd included. if you have any other questions feel free to ask

Is that on contract, or sim free price?

Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 4

I think that specific promotional package from TrueMove H is tied to a contract, or post-paid, plan...

    http://booking.truecorp.co.th/note3fortruecard/note3

    Galaxy Lite, or Galaxy Bonus...

    http://truemoveh.truecorp.co.th/campaign/entry/1694

I am pretty sure the unit is generally available at the MSRP of 23,500 THB anywhere/everywhere SIM-free/unlocked, just maybe not without a few extras, or a discounted plan? Sometimes the bundled uSD cards are (obviously) less than ideal.

It also looks like the local unit is the N9000, so no LTE in case that is a requirement for anyone? (N9005 for LTE but different chip-set, CPU, GPU).

There may be more details associated with the upcoming Mobile Expo, not all of which require one to attend in person; many shops will honor show promotions.

  6. N.S.A. Gathers Data on Social Connections of U.S. Citizens

WASHINGTON — Since 2010, the National Security Agency has been exploiting its huge collections of data to create sophisticated graphs of some Americans’ social connections that can identify their associates, their locations at certain times, their traveling companions and other personal information, according to newly disclosed documents and interviews with officials.

  7. Never, ever confuse what NRA members, or the public in general, want/think with what NRA leaders want.

Obviously the folks who manufacture firearms, and ammunition, have a lot to lose here so I wouldn't expect any changes.

The PLCAA law (2005) which indemnifies/protects gun dealers and manufacturers from being sued when the firearms they sell are later used in crimes needs to be repealed - it won't be of course - before there are any subsequent changes in gun ownership laws.

Even individuals are protected, in most cases, from liability in the case of gun injury/death, although it's hard to imagine the "Founding Fathers" extending the Second Amendment that far? ;)

  8. I used to think the Americans were naive to deal with people such as the Iranians...

Well we (U.S. of A./CIA) did "deal with" Iran in 1953, not sure how naive this was, by overthrowing the democratically elected government of Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadeq and installed a dictator - it's what we do best (he says waving a giant foam finger).

Obviously, since then (1953) we've been dealing with the situation in Iran with somewhat less success. wink.png

Not counting helping Saddam Hussein use chemical weapons to attack Iran, of course. That we did quite well. rolleyes.gif

Exclusive: CIA Files Prove America Helped Saddam as He Gassed Iran

In 1988, during the waning days of Iraq's war with Iran, the United States learned through satellite imagery that Iran was about to gain a major strategic advantage by exploiting a hole in Iraqi defenses. U.S. intelligence officials conveyed the location of the Iranian troops to Iraq, fully aware that Hussein's military would attack with chemical weapons, including sarin, a lethal nerve agent.

    http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2013/08/25/secret_cia_files_prove_america_helped_saddam_as_he_gassed_iran

I just don't get why the Iranians don't like us?

  9. As for the new schedule, the Airport Rail Link will be using the Payathai Express Line train as an extra City Line train. Therefore, the Payathai Express Line's services will be cancelled on weekdays from 6 am. to 10 am., but will available on weekends and public holidays from 6 am.to midnight.

The move will add 5 additional services to City Line during the morning rush hours, between 6 am and 9 am, to accommodate the number of City line passengers, which has risen by up to 8,000 a day.

    This seems like good news?

Are they running the fourth (baggage) car? If so, can people ride in that car?

If they'd ever reconfigure the track(s) west of Makassan they could use a single Express train to serve both Makassan and Phaya Thai, but this relatively simple, inexpensive, straight-forward project seems too challenging.

  10. The most recent thread:

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/563511-i-want-to-give-up-my-us-citizenship/

While 1,131 people renounced their U.S. citizenship in 2012, nearly one million people became U.S. citizens in 2012, and just over another one million became legal, permanent citizens, so the net add of two million is significant.

Seven states in the US have no State Tax, Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas and Washington State.

Income, sales, investment, business, estate/inheritance, gas, alcohol, tobacco, real estate/property, automobile, luxury, food, clothing, restaurant?

You really have to look at the overall tax burden, which obviously varies by state and municipality.

I think Wyoming, South Dakota, Nevada, Alaska, Florida usually make the top (bottom?) 5 in lowest overall tax burden.

  11. I can buy a LG Nexus 4: $249 + Asus Nexus 7 tablet: $229 + Acer Chromebook: $199 = $677 USD. That is still less than a Iphone 5c in Thailand.

The N4 is sold out on the U.S. Play Store, and will not be re-stocked.

The GNEX 5 (LG G2?) does not look to be earth-shattering,

After reading more about the GNEX 5 it does sound pretty spiffy. I think I will get one on a trip to the U.S. during Christmas/New Year's.

  12. It seems like this promotion is tied to a port out of CAT/TrueMove H and in to Real Move.

So a decent way to transition some customers to the new 2100 MHz subsidiary: RealMove.

But then most existing CAT/TrueMove H customers probably already have mobile data and the 200 MB for 10 months is probably of little use?

    Worldwide Caution
    September 25, 2013
The Department of State has issued this Worldwide Caution to update information on the continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence against U.S. citizens and interests throughout the world. U.S. citizens are reminded to maintain a high level of vigilance and to take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness. This replaces the Worldwide Caution dated February 19, 2013, to provide updated information on security threats and terrorist activities worldwide.
The Department of State remains concerned about the continued threat of terrorist attacks, demonstrations, and other violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests overseas. Current information suggests that al-Qa’ida, its affiliated organizations, and other terrorist groups continue to plan terrorist attacks against U.S. interests in multiple regions, including Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. These attacks may employ a wide variety of tactics including suicide operations, assassinations, kidnappings, hijackings, and bombings.
  14. This may/should be covered in the terms of your lease. If it is not then you may be required to pay. You could negotiate this, and/or get it added to a new lease going forward. I imagine each situation will be different, with some owner/landlords wanting to service and maintain the infrastructure which is part and parcel of their property, while others may not give a hoot.

  15. What's to comment on now that it's finally open?rolleyes.gif

Sure it looks silly as it winds around, over, up/down, and is challenging for people with luggage to wheel up the long incline from the Petchaburi MRT station - where bags get searched, and there are still no signs directing you to the SARL/CAT, and the elevators are hidden - and then once inside the CAT, the escalators/elevators may or may be functioning. It seems like a lot of regular, daily commuters still take the outside route, unless it is raining. But yes, it is better than a sharp stick in the eye, or getting run over by an SRT train.

  16. I might plan to arrive at the Suvarnabhumi-Bangkok International Airport (SBIA/BKK) between 3:15 PM and 4:00 PM.

You may be able to check in on-line, print boarding cards, and then drop luggage, although this does nothing to address the potential Immigration queue.

I would plan on 60 minutes for a taxi from DMK to BKK.

Taxis can be challenging to get within DMK, you may be better off walking out/over to the main road (Vibhavadi Rangsit Road).

  18. Did your husband already switch to Tri-Net?

It sounds like it might be a "Carrier Settings" issue (14.1 in iOS 6 and 14.5.4? in iOS 7) related to iOS 7, and/or the interaction of iOS7 and Tri-Net?

    You could try:

1.) Reset Network. >> menu Settings>. > General >> Reset >> Reset Network Setting, select Reset Network Settings, press confirm and wait for the iPhone to reboot.

2.) Ensure that Cellular Data, Enable 3G and Data Roaming are all enabled (slide to the right/green).
