  1. His policy is designed for frequent travellers who only have short stays. It is valid for a year so it saves them taking out insurance for each trip. It was certainly not right for him but reading the policy coverage should have made him realise this. Nothing at all to do with 'fine print' Hope he makes a good recovery.
  2. Cebu Pacific is a domestic and international low cost airline. Yet they are not listed as reducing their fares?
  3. They don't want peace..... says the country that invaded them, launches missiles at civilians etc. Maybe if you stopped all this and just left them alone peace might happen by itself?
  4. If you are really concerned.... Don't Vape! From what I have read it's not addictive, like nicotine, so just don't do it and concentrate your energies on the girls instead
  5. Many of these retirees will be supporting Indonesian families. Somehow I don't imagine the government is going to take on that responsibility! The retirees have other options, the families don't
  6. Definition of Special Case! Brown envelope contents increased by at least 20 times.
  7. 'I don't think travel insurance covers us for medical bills incurred from motorcycle accidents, even if we do have a licence.' Not correct, it varies depending on the policies 'Exclusions'. I have been visiting Thailand for 15+ years, riding bikes all the time and have checked many policies before choosing mine:- - Some do not allow any bike riding, licence or not. - Some require a home licence for mbike and often with an IDP. - Some restrict engine size, usually under 125cc - Some will not cover if a passenger and the driver is unlicensed, or drunk. This can be a problem in Thailand when using MB Taxis. I suspect that this last exclusion may be the one they are using to avoid payment.
  8. What a great idea, encourage mass tourism from China just as Cv19 outbreak is exploding there. No entry restrictions, just bring your money, what could possibly go wrong?
  9. They are registered (recorded) so that the can be identified if picked up again. They don't need a reason, they are a law into themselves. Some years ago a good friend who had worked in Central for a long while, bought some food in Soi9 on her break. She walked over to sit on a bench on the beachfront (before the council removed them) and the cops came along en masse with their pick up rounding up girls. She was in their sights and it took a lot of pleading not to be taken away.
  10. A committee, waste of time. We can all foretell the results
  11. 'but the agents do not do anything illegal, they are merely middlemen/women,' Ha ha. I know 4 guys who do not have the funds to legally get an extension. They all use an agent with 'contacts' at the IB, middlemen alright, channeling money to the right people
  12. Thailand is a member of ASEAN and these countries recognise each other's licence, usually for 90 days. I use my Philippine licence here as my Thai one expired. I read that to get an IDP in Thailand you need to have the 5 year licence!
  13. ' Let us know how you get along using your Thai bank app overseas.' I have had no problem using mine from Australia, and the Philippines in the last 15 years.
  14. 'but are unhappy with the digitization and local bureaucracy' I went into K bank yesterday, a simple transaction, I wanted my recorded contact phone number changed due to a new sim. I had all my ID, sat down and spent 20 minutes while the service officer entered stuff on her computer. Finally she printed out 4 sheets of paper, filled in a form and I signed them. Let's not even mention Immigration Visa extensions????????
  15. At least they aren't arresting pensioner Farangs playing bridge????
  16. Flown internationally and domestically without problems several times. Very good promos, especially inside Vietnam. Comparable with other SEA airlines to me.
  17. Phone shaking was an issue for me as well. Ended up getting my younger lady to do it and no troubles then
  18. A friend of mine had a similar tale. OZ born, educated and ex Govt senior Manager. Was living in Thailand for 25 years working as an IELTS teacher and examiner but had to return OZ to do the 2 years He had no family, or friends here, no social contacts at all really. Ended up in a room in a boarding house. He was fortunate that his teaching experience got him a contract at a Uni and some private students.
  19. ' Why not use that money towards paying for it' It has already been distributed to Persons of Influence!!
  20. I used the 'basket only' lane at a big c supermarket yesterday. Only 3 people ahead of me, each with only a few items. It took over 10 minutes as each paid with their phones...... surely there has to be a better way? Maybe a 'cash only' lane?
  21. We were asked for our boarding cards at Swampy, many others have posted the same.
  22. When they know you are coming your not going to find any transgressions, that's why they pay.
  23. ' I want a international driving license (Proof) so I can go touring in neighboring countries ' As a member of ASEAN, Thailand has a recipricol arrangement with other ASEAN countries and you can use your Thai licence there, for 90 days as I recall.
  24. 'the aircraft has to evenly balanced with the weights distributed evenly throughout the airplane for safe flying and controlling the plane' Sounds good in theory... BUT they don't weigh the passengers when they allocate seats, so all the fatties could be on one side of the plane. Many folk do on line check in and get a seat allocated, so no idea where the thin/chubby ones are. It doesn't make much sense to me.
  25. Revoking the gun licence will change nothing. Check point stops have shown a big percentage of drivers are unlicensed.... doesn't stop them driving tho.
