  1. I agree that VA disability may not be a classified as a pension but I believe that the DTA would still exempt it because of these two articles. The primary consideration IMO is that it is from government service. Not everything has to be specifically mentioned. The phrases "...other similar remuneration..." and "Remuneration, other than a pension,..." can cover a lot. ARTICLE 20 Pensions and Social Security Payments 1. Subject to the provisions of paragraph 2 of Article 21 (Government Service), pensions and other similar remuneration paid to a resident of a Contracting State in consideration of past employment shall be taxable only in that State. ARTICLE 21 Government Service 1. a) Remuneration, other than a pension, paid by a Contracting State or a political subdivision or a local authority thereof to an individual in respect of services rendered to that State or subdivision or authority shall be taxable only in that State. BTW my military retirement pay for 20 years active duty service is not called a pension either.
  2. The photo does not show the one with the gun making it safe. Although that MAY have been what he was doing, the photo, in know way, shows that. The photo would be the same if he was racking the slide to make sure it had a round in the chamber so it would be ready to fire.
  3. I use Jomtien and have been doing online reports since before Covid and have never ha any issues. Always worked fine. Last couple of time approval came back same day. I'm a little concerned about the next one though. I just received the reminder email saying it was due on April 1st. I'm not sure if it's an April Fools joke or not.
  4. Yes. US Social Security can not be taxed by Thailand. My US Military Pension and Social Security are the only funds I will transfer to my Thai bank account so I have no concerns about the new rules. Neither are taxable by Thailand. All Double Tax Agreements are available on the Thai Revenue Dept website. https://www.rd.go.th/english/766.html
  5. I don't know of any country where resisting arrest is considered self defense.
  6. Sorry to break it to you but oil was not made from dinosaurs. That is one of those silly statements that only gullible fools believe.
  7. Your VA Disability is a Govt Pension and can not be taxed by Thailand per the DTA.
  8. Possibly African elephants that had their ears trimmed.
  9. Try to keep up. Green Elephant Sanctuary Park is not a charity. There is another entity called Green Elephant Wildlife Foundation that is a charity.
  10. At 18 years old that would make him the Doogie Howser of Veterinarians.
  11. One thing that I don't think has been specifically mentioned in any reports I have seen: Green Elephant Sanctuary Park is a commercial enterprise intended to make money. Green Elephant Wildlife Foundation is a non-profit charity (located at the Elephant Park, using the same logo and address). It appears that the alleged purpose of the foundation was for making an Elephant Hospital, and possibly a mobile clinic. I don't think it ever happened and seems to be a bit dodgy. BTW. In Thailand, according to Siam Legal website, the word "Foundation" does mean an entity is a registered non-profit charity, and the word Foundation must be in the name. I was wrong in another post where I didn't think "Foundation" had any special meaning.
  12. Yes. All the fuss is about his actions, not his address.
  13. There is a website for making appointments Appt For Thai Passport
  14. Just for comparison, the "Executive" check up at Pattaya International Hospital is 16,000 Baht Pattaya International
  15. Wrong. the word "Foundation" does not make his business a charity. And where did you see it referred to as a foundation. If you look at the business website you won't see the word "foundation" anywhere. At least I didn't see it. You also won't find any mention of donations. Green Elephant Sanctuary Park Phuket
  16. His Elephant Park is not a charity. Using words like "Sanctuary" or "Rescue" doesn't mean it's a charity. His park was just another tourist attraction whose main purpose was making money.
  17. Baldwins gun was supposed to be loaded, not empty. But it was supposed to have dummy rounds loaded. not blanks. Blanks are very easy to identify but dummy rounds would be very similar to a live round although there should be some feature to tell them apart. Big difference between a dummy round and a blank round. people have been killed by blank rounds. A “blank” doesn't have a slug in it, but it still has an explosive charge. If it goes off too close to you, the blast can cause injury, or even death. Some blank cartridges also contain wadding that can be propelled into your body. But in any case he lied about not pulling the trigger. Forensics proved that.
  18. You can buy the fake ones online, not a real one.
  19. I looked at the website and it is 100% fake. Keep in mind that the IDP is a document established by international treaties. Legitimate IDP's can only be issued by the governments that have ratified those treaties. Some governments delegate the authority for issuing the IDP's to other entities such as auto clubs. In the USA IDP's are issued by AAA Auto Association because they have a charter from the US State Dept to issue them on behalf of the US Government. No other entity except AAA can issue a valid IDP for a US drivers license. Same thing in every country. They may be issued directly from a government office like in Thailand or the authority to issue them may have been officially delegated to some other entity. " Also the only legitimate IDP's are issued in the flimsy, cheap looking, grey booklet as specified by the treaty. Any credit card sized "IDP" is a fake. Any digital "IDP" is a fake. Some of the fakes do look similar to real ones but the companies selling them are doing so without the authority to do so. Some of the fakes do say in the small print that they are unofficial.
  20. A genuine IDP for a UK license is only available from the Post Office. https://www.gov.uk/driving-abroad/get-an-idp
  21. In general, any IDP sold online is fake. 1949 or 1968 convention is irrelevant with fake documents. There may be some countries that let you apply online but it will be an official website and they won't be placing ads. Thailand has ratified both treaties and should be able to issue both IDP's. 1949 IDP is good for 1 year and 1968 IDP is good for 3 years. You should get the one that matches the treaty the country you are visiting ratified. If that country ratified both the get the 1968 IDP. If you want to know what treaty a country is a party to you can check the UN Treaty Database here: 1949 IDP Countries (102 Countries) 1968 IDP Countries (89 Countries)
  22. DLT near Regents School close to Hwy 36 and Hwy 7 does not issue them. Chonburi City DLT is the place to go. Link to Pattaya City Expats Club article Thailand-IDP
