  1. The thread has slipped through in a quite exotic subforum ("Expat Travel in Thailand Stories"?). Worth moving to banking?
  2. So true. Name a currency that keeps up. It's not the Euro. 1.2 Baht down in a week, bloody massacre. Good I am not forced to transfer regularly. Expect worse if the cannons thunder. Wait and hope...
  3. Thanks for pointing to. All that happened to Khon Kaen is that your ID/passport is scanned at Khon Kaen airport exit. I was surprised that nothing was checked to/at Phuket.
  4. Think twice before writing. The OP want's to do a visa run. The simple cross the border is not possible and on return he would need to go through test&go or quarantine in Thailand. Over the bridges only goods transported.
  5. When was that? At Suvarnabhumi check-in? Which airline? Never experienced in 2021 about test. And >PCR<!
  6. Vaccination certificate/status is sufficient. No tests required. Been flying Khon Kaen -> Phuket -> Bangkok -> Khon Kaen around X-mas/New Year and not even been asked anything. Does not say that there might be routes where vaccination is checked (to Samui? to Chiang Mai? to Chiang Rai?). Flying TO Bangkok nothing required by the rules. A mate flew from Phuket (sandbox, foreign arrival) to U-Tapao. Didn't mention about any checks. Situation has changed compared to earlier last year when vax check was done at check-in. Never had to show any test results since 2020.
  7. This bridge does not tolerate much wrongdoing. Cheap and dangerous. No proper division of the lanes with low concrete edges, poles on the middle (cheaper than each on both sides outside the railing). Now think what happens when you slide/fall with a two wheeler on the right lane. Even flying off the bridge with a four wheeler is easy done. Low railings.
  8. Important details only found in the article (four bikes racing e.g.). Car changing lane...
  9. Maybe mixed up with the rule for elections where this applies (6 PM before election day)? In the past it was always midnight to midnight for Buddhist holidays.
  10. Well, sounds a bit optimistic. A service that I used repeatedly to Pattaya is Tom Taxi. To Pattaya it is 1000 Baht. To Hua Hin they want 2200 Baht. I remember from the past that Hua Hin was always much more than Hua Hin (distance approx 220 km vs 120 km). https://www.tomtaxiservice.com/
  11. Ouch, completely misunderstood. Distance from both is not much different, but more convenient/more options is Suvarnabhumi (as @YorkshireTyke has written).
  12. Enjoy the experience and bother about nothing for a few days family visit. It's not North Korea and no block warden will report you. Like many others I do a few trips per year and never care about "reporting" that.
  13. I saw this nasty dark red cell on the weather radar yesterday passing along highway 12 to the east. I checked because it had darkened. We just got some drizzle.
  14. I could be wrong but the only flight to Hua Hin that I can find is from Chiang Mai. Maybe three flights a week. Was surprised that are any flights at all. Bangkok no way and to my opinion will never happen. 90 miles linear distance. 120 miles on the road.
  15. The horrendous "power of love". Both ways possible. In the village a young guy slit open his throat because the girl dumped him.
  16. To me that looks like the most ordinary Alkaline-Mangan batteries that you find at every cash checkout in a Thai supermarket, mom&pop shop and a trillion other spots. Until the 1970 a "zinc carbon" battery existed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinc–carbon_battery But this is long gone and vanished. To me this "charcoal" sounds like one of the most silly examples of a failed (Google) translation. If am proofed wrong I'll take it with countenance. Maybe someone found a lump of mangan and found it looks like a piece of grandma's charcoal
  17. My little bag of will also go up. Np compensation for the Euro to collapse further. Less money, higher prices, more trouble with supply chains. If someone is high above, sitting on a pile of money he might well say "irrelevant to me". For flying to/from Europe maybe another extra flight time. Even bigger detour.
  18. Chiang Mai likely means you want to fly. Or 24h drive? I was not bothered flying there before Christmas. Not even asking for vax cert. at check-in. Zero checks at arrival. Similar reports here in the forum. Completed vaccination status is sufficient.
  19. It's the most delicate water outlet to fail. Second on the list and often overlooked is leaking toilet flush tank. I notice the latter one when the pump mysteriously goes on.
  20. Hard to believe that there are expats staying long-term(?) using foreign cards? Banks must love you.
  21. And obviously again accepted DCC currency conversion by the Thai bank. You find the ways to loose as much money as possible. No 220 but loosing four digit numbers by the rate.
  22. We have a fairly strong pump and water pressure. I gave up and added an easy to handle stop valve. Similar to this but with a longer handle. Very smooth to open/close.
  23. The frequent Android version updates and incompatibilities are a nice money machine. If your stubborn hardware won't give up, we'll teach you a lesson and void your old software BTW waiting for my new smartphone to be delivered today And then after less than a week I hope to have all messengers, four banks access SW, transferwise, mails, payment apps (PEA, 3BB), morphrom, Thaichana, paid dictionary etc. etc. back to work
