Australian Arrested at Bangkok Airport Over Pattaya Murder

Police have arrested a 46-year-old Australian man at Suvarnabhumi Airport after he attempted to flee Thailand, in connection with the disappearance and murder of a 17-year-old Thai girl whose body was found on 27 June 2026, inside a suitcase abandoned beside railway tracks in Pattaya.

The suspect, identified publicly by Thai police as Mr. Simon Peter Carman, was detained while attempting to buy a ticket to return to Australia. He has denied any involvement in the killing and maintains he is innocent despite what police describe as strong CCTV evidence. He currently faces a charge of abducting a minor under the age of 18 for indecent purposes.

The arrest followed a joint investigation by Pattaya City Police and Nong Prue Police, who traced the suspect’s movements using CCTV footage collected along his suspected escape route.

According to investigators, the victim, Miss T, 17, from Kalasin province, disappeared after entering a condominium on Jomtien Second Road with Carman at 3.34am on June 25. CCTV footage showed the pair holding hands as they entered the building and went to Room 20 on the 15th floor. Police say the teenager was never seen leaving the condominium alive.

Further CCTV footage recorded at around 9.34pm the same day allegedly showed Carman dragging a large black suitcase from the building. He loaded it onto a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle bearing Prachuap Khiri Khan registration. Police later used CCTV tracking him riding along Sukhumvit Road towards Soi Chaiyapruk 2 and then onto a road running parallel to the railway tracks.

Investigators said the suspect disappeared from CCTV coverage for more than nine minutes before returning to the condominium on the same motorcycle without the suitcase. Police believe the victim’s body was disposed of during that period.

A body concealed inside a black suitcase was later discovered beside railway tracks behind Pattaya Floating Market in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri. Police from Pattaya and Nong Prue coordinated efforts under senior officers, analysing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify and locate the suspect.

Officers tracked Carman to Suvarnabhumi Airport, where he was arrested before boarding a flight. Authorities are continuing to question him while forensic specialists gather additional evidence to support the case. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to examine forensic evidence and complete the case file for legal proceedings.

You are having quite the morning rant. Here he is a drug user. Later he was likely having a "few schooners".

Either way, just another pathetic, filthy sex tourist coming to Thailand to molest young girls. Nothing to do with visas. Those scumbag perverts are part of the landscape.

Let's hope money doesn't get him off a prison sentence, where her brothers can remind him of what he did.

Well you can't deny what sort of people are being allowed into the country...no criminal checks for visas or anything. Don't know where you live but I have seen 1st hand the trash that is allowed to stay here. All grifting on line with radical views and convictions in their home countries and proud of it. Is it any wonder things like this seem to be happening on a daily basis, it will all come out in the wash about this guy.

He does not look like a murderer either. The crime makes no sense.

how on earth did he think he was getting away with this ?

cctv is everywhere

It looks like another one of those impulsive crimes. They don't plan it out at all and are just going on adrenaline make low IQ moves. And are caught so easily.

The guy could have been queer and knew that she was an LB and it was some gay lovers quarrel.

The white complexion is common with beach road and WS LBs so still possible

Some aussies can be really homophobic and might freak out when he realises he just got hot and heavy with one. A normal person wouldn't react like that

So maybe around 24 hours from the time the suitcase was discovered to stopping the alleged perp trying to fly out of Suvarnabhumi. Pretty good police work.

Excellent work indeed. What surprises me is that the perp chose not to change his clothes before attempting to leave, at the very least would have made him somewhat less recognisable, and smelly.

From the OP: after entering a condominium on Jomtien Second Road with Carman at approximately 3.34am on June 25.

So was the alleged perp the owner of the condo or was this just another Airbnb short-term (less than 30 days) illegal rental.

According to data from Wikipedia's crime in Thailand, Thailand records approximately 1,500 to 1,800 murders each year. This translates to an annual intentional homicide rate of about 2.2 to 2.6 per 100,000 peopel,

they can't be all the doing of Aussie bogans can they?

Anyone else curious about the cause of death?

Without that tidbit of information, I'm open to the possibility that it was a drug overdose and the guy just panicked to get rid of the body. That doesn't exonerate the guy, but it would paint a different picture.

Or, it may have been an act of violence. Have there been any updates in Thai media?

You'll find most foreigners riding a Yamaha Aerox have some sort of mental health issue.

Not 100% lady? WTF does that even mean? Do you know you’re judging from a photo? You think the skin tones are correct?

What difference would it make anyway?

Do you realise you know nothing about this?

Got any more wild guesses you’d like to share for no reason?

...Mr. Simon Peter Carman...

That's strange. Doesn't sound like a [insert name of typical Australian immigrant nationality here].

But I digress. He's 47 and took a 17-year-old girl to his room. That's a teenage girl, not a lady boy. Thai media has no issues reporting on the involvement of the 'third-gender', so there's no reason to suspect homophobic rage here. Maybe he is simply what I believe is called a 'rock spider' in the Australian vernacular?

From Pattaya News: "A team led by Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyu, Chief of Pattaya City Police Station, searched the condominium. They found signs of a struggle in the room but no one inside. Carman had already left. ..."

and "Rescue workers opened the suitcase and discovered the body of a young woman curled inside, covered partially by a thin brown cloth. She had visible injuries to her face consistent with a violent assault, including swelling, bruising, and blood from her mouth and nose. The body showed signs of having been dead for over a day. Distinctive tattoos and physical features confirmed the identity as Miss T. ..."

and, "Carman was intercepted at the airport with visible scratch marks on his neck and arms, believed to be defensive wounds from a struggle. ..."

I study body language. He looks different to most. My guess is ladyboy, alcohol and lost his cool. Then came up with the bag idea. It was a moment of madness and not a planned kill. Evil people plan it out.

Disgusting monster. Castrate the the pyscho, jail him and throw the key away. Everytime this happens the reputation of us law-abiding expats gets tarnished. Condolences to her family and may she rest in peace.
