The wife of an Israeli man buried at a Jewish cemetery in Bang Khla district, Chachoengsao, has appealed to Deputy Interior Minister Pholphee Suwanchawee to allow her to take his body for cremation.
Pakawan Srisai said her husband was the third body buried at the cemetery and that cremation had been his stated wish before he died. She said she has hospital documents properly confirming the cause of death.
Cremation request after removal order
On 12 September, Pakawan contacted reporters after learning that authorities had ordered bodies to be removed from the cemetery site. She said she was worried about the rushed move and felt sorry for her husband.
She said she had tried to contact the company involved, which told her it would arrange a new burial location. The company also said it would cover the cost of removing her husband's body for cremation.
"I am ready to take my husband's body to be cremated. Please help me," she said in her appeal to Pholphee.
Bang Khla district officials are now pressing ahead with the administrative order to remove the bodies within the time remaining under the directive. The company said it could not act immediately because of the weekend and the need to carry out religious rites.
Health teams disinfect cemetery area
Meanwhile, the public health division of Samed Tai Subdistrict Administrative Organisation sent a team in protective clothing to spray disinfectant around the cemetery.
The operation was intended to prevent the spread of disease and protect sanitation and public safety for people living nearby.
The first body whose family has indicated it wants it removed remains subject to coordination between the company and relatives. Outstanding questions include whether the remains should be cremated or reburied, while some people involved in the decision are still minors.
Relevant agencies are collecting information for a progress report to the deputy interior minister at a meeting scheduled for 13 September 2026. Officials have been instructed to follow legal procedures and to avoid confrontation with local residents.
