Motorcycle Taxi Rider Hits Indian Tourist in Pattaya Road Dispute

A video capturing a motorcycle taxi rider slapping an Indian tourist on the head in Pattaya surfaced online today, April 10, generating widespread criticism. The incident occurred as the tourist was reportedly walking on the road and failed to make way for oncoming traffic. The video, uploaded by แจ็ค โพธิ์แดง, shows the rider hitting the tourist while carrying a passenger who is seen filming and laughing at the event.

Reporters visiting the bustling Soi Phettrakul on Pattaya Nuea Road noted the area's heavy traffic and presence of both Thai and foreign tourists at night. Local motorcycle taxi rider, identified only as Uan, mentioned a recurring problem with tourists, particularly Indians, walking carelessly in traffic without considering safety. Uan explained that despite drivers' efforts to alert pedestrians using horns or warnings, many do not heed these signals, assuming vehicles will stop for them.

The incident drew divided reactions, with some condemning the use of violence by the rider. Critics suggested that the situation could have been resolved more civilly, highlighting that differences in background or language should not lead to physical aggression. The backlash underscores ongoing debates about pedestrian safety and the treatment of tourists in busy locales like Pattaya.

It happens regularly, very entertaining, watching the stupid Indians walking on the road and getting a slap on the back of the head

I am in full support of the Thais. The Indians in Pattaya are the most obnoxious tourists on the planet. They have no concept of walking on a sidewalk, are rude and expect the cars and motorbikes to stop for them.

Those folks make is so easy for people to hate on them.

I'm conflicted. Hello condone the violence but the same time I've had to jam on my brakes sit there waiting for Indians, mostly. They go five six Indians wide walking straight don't care making other people get out of their way, stopping traffic.

When there is adequate room on the sidewalk and they still choose to hinder motorbike traffic like from Pattaya 3rd road to South Pattaya Road I think more of us would want to give them a slap.

Songkran now so just give them a good soaking.

Same problem on Koh Samui. Many tourists just walk on the road instead of the sidewalk, which is irritating for car drivers and motor bike riders alike. And "horn blowing" is looked down on as a "get out of my road" gesture.

If it’s a similar slap on a woman’s bottom, it constitutes sexual assault.

The Indians are the most disrespectful walkers around..They walk in packs of 5-6-7-8-9-10 with little regard of anyone else...

A head slap is well deserved..

They don’t leave the hotels while Songkran is on. They don’t like water although most of them need a good shower and soap.

Walk up Thapae Road in Chiang Mai sometime. Signs, cars, SUVs, utility polls, utility boxes, planters, chains, trees, plant pots, motorcycles, you name it, it's in the middle of the sidewalk forcing you to walk..........IN THE ROAD.

Thailand is pedestrian unfriendly.

More racists. The "I don't like Indian darkies" farangs members are out in full swing today. Anyone else out there hate other ethnicities. Don't be shy - show us your racist natures.

Man, you people are a sad lot. You should be ashamed. But ethno-supremisists I guess don't feel shame. They're too busy feeling superior, sort like Donald ("Iranians are animals") Trump.

That's pretty crass. I've always been taught that to even t o u c h someone's head is a dire nono in Thailand.

I'm betting this MC jockey would never have dared do that to a Thai.

The term racist is overused and misused, idiots like you have worn it out, and it doesn't have any impact anymore !

WRONG - it is perhaps the idiots like you who do not know their opinions are racist - there are clearly racist comments on this thread, connada's comments are accurate and valid.

Not a great look for anyone involved - but that rider? Absolute A1 t!thead behaviour.

This is exactly what it looks like - someone riding around acting like a complete knob, thinking they can do what they like without consequence.

Yes, you can get friction between groups of any nationality - that’s just human nature, familiarity breeding contempt and all that. But let’s not pretend this was anything like a “road dispute”, because it wasn’t. There was no back-and-forth, no escalation, no trigger. Just a bloke on a bike deciding to smack someone round the head for no reason whatsoever.

Call it what it is - a cheap shot from someone who thought he could get away with it. And if there’s any underlying bias in that decision, that only makes it worse.

If the situation had been reversed - if a group had retaliated - the headlines would be screaming about violent retaliation. Instead, we’re still seeing this dressed up as some kind of disagreement. It wasn’t. It was a one-sided act.

There’s no defending that sort of behaviour. Anyone trying to justify it is either blinded by bias or just as much of an idiot as the rider himself.

Motorbike taxi guys and bolt drivers rarely talk when they pick me up, but whenever Indians are in the mix, their English come out and it is not pretty. They hate, repeat, hate Indians in Pattaya. I cannot blame them, the Indians here are a pain in the A$$.

Speaking in defence of cobras, that proverb (it's not a joke) is non-specific about the species of snake (and in fact, about location). Any snake will do.

You didn’t find it funny because you’re clever - you found it funny because you’re too thick to tell the difference between humour and someone being a complete knob.

That ‘woke sheep’ line just confirms you’re clueless and proud of it.

Now off you go - try your comedy routine in the real world and see how many teeth your sense of humour routine leaves you with !!!... whistling
