Sai Samut, also known as Siranat Scott, has criticised the Thai government in a Facebook post, alleging it has allowed foreigners to threaten Thailand and cause problems in the country.
Sai Samut, is a Thai marine conservationist and a member of the Bhirombhakdi family, the billionaire owners of the Singha beer brand. He gained initial public attention as a strict, no-nonsense park ranger and advisor to the Department of National Parks, where he confronted tourists and operators he felt were disrespecting the environment.
In May 2026 when he publicly accused his older brother of childhood sexual abuse and his family of covering it up. In the wake of the ensuing public scandal, he renounced his family name, adopting the new name "Sai Samut" as he seeks to reclaim his life and identity apart from his family.
The post, published on 8 September, included an image of the Thai national flag and came amid public discussion about foreigners allegedly creating difficulties in Thailand.
Samut wrote: "You can feel that our state no longer loves Thailand... Otherwise it would not open the door for foreigners to threaten Thailand to this extent.
"You may no longer love Thailand, but for me and 60 million people, Thailand is our home. Nothing can replace it. Please, if you do not love it, that is fine, but stop destroying our home."
Online support for the post
The comments drew substantial engagement, with many users backing Samut's call for Thais to stand together.
One commenter said people could find it difficult to rely on others, but that Thai citizens could depend on unity and immediate mutual support. The commenter praised Samut as part of a younger generation that would take over the responsibility of safeguarding the country.
Another said that love must come from the heart rather than from personal gain, and praised Samut for speaking out. A further comment voiced concern for Thailand's natural environment and land, saying that benefits given to a small number of people could result in natural resources being taken from future generations.
