Third case in a week of searching for someone who has simply turned off their phone?

Looks like she/he is doing a runner. Should that be correct, then the last thing needed would be any media. On the other hand, the Thai authorities would like to seen doing their job.

Being a Saudi ladyboy surely has a short shelf-life unless you intentionally disappear yourself or live extremely low profile under the radar... or you'll get disappeared, and it's not as if you can just hop on a plane back to your home country. Also looks like she and her friends could easily have attracted far too much attention to themselves too.

Well the friends have raised the alarm, so the police do really have to respond.

if a deliberate attempt to “disappear “ she should have alerted her friends not to look for her

Your travel partner disappears for over a week, that alone is concerning. BUT, add 'gay dude from Saudi', and not so concerning, and apparently not that close to travel companion.

If simply decide to not return. Does give travel partner plausible deniablity, as not returning might be illegal in Saudi Arabia.

Hope he found a good 'sponsor', and has a long asylum here. Imaging being illegal to get your freak on ... I wouldn't return either.

Apparently, like prostitution on the ground vs. in the law books in Thailand, LGBTQ is well-tolerated in SA. I know a Thai trans from a wealthy family who claims to like vacationing on the Red Sea beaches in SA. Beautiful, not touristy and she claims to be treated very well, both by Arabs and hospitality people, almost all non-Arab.

A transgender from Saudi Arabia the last thing they would have wanted is their name plastered all over the Media won't be going back to Saudi Arabia now 😱

You would be surprised to find out that the "woke" Saudis are only too quick to accept that these individuals are in fact female, and treat them pretty much exactly the same as real women, but don't get your hopes up.

They are then subject to all the conditions that apply to Saudi Arabian women !, There are very strict regulations that dictate the behaviour of saudi women and very severe punishments , including death for those that do not comply, its their country / their rules, its a common muslim thing that the apologists don't like to mention

Its not just LBGT people that get a rough deal, normal women don't get an easy ride either

If claiming some sort of asylum is their intention they could have chosen a more welcoming place than Thailand the UK and most of Europe seem to accept all-comers these days , and hand out passports like confetti
