It's common to pay a deposit and then the balance after the event: This allows time for the money envelopes to be counted and usually the envelopes cover all the expenses.

Already money issues.

Here's some sound Advice.

Stop inviting 130 people, some who are not close to a "BIG Party" to show off and entertain others when your finances can NOT support it.

Nonsense type logic. All for one night maybe 6 hours of entertainment.

Then your paying this Debt for how many years?

She will back in Pattaya next month and he will go live in Chiang Mai and cry it off sobbing over 35 beers at a mom and pop shop in middle of nowhere. Money is like the #1 reason of all divorces and even more for cheating, girls here will do so 95% sure if someone pops up their radar that is better off, or simply hands it hassle free, even for some short fun.

They already lost face and he is done lol. Unless he turns it into a joke by magically bringing double the money and fix loss face. Even then it is a obvious tell already that this is a old bastard with a younger girl who is in it for the transactional part only.

There is so many guys who lie to girls in order to get free sex for ages, promising them a condo or saying they own a huge house back home, saying they will pay for a huge wedding. A guy with the actual money, wouldn't need to do that.

Drinks were included as of the size, the amount the catering costed in that sense is peanuts then. I lost over 50K on alcohol with just 50 people lol. The food was the cheap part. If there is a party in isaan, they drink as if there is no tomorrow.

Like chinese tourists on their first trip seeing a food buffet, attempting to bag up the whole place.

Soi 6 or 7. It appears many of this type of guys actually think they can get away with it, not realizing this is like death, that's why theey never had a relationship in the first place in their home country, or were ditched already by their ex.

Even some girls seem to put up with it for building a house or whatever, they still then meet guys for fun, for cash, in between.

The Chinese are particularly bad at seafood buffets... they each have multiple plates.. push and shove each other.. and when it is time for them to leave.. many many unemptied plates of seafood not eaten. They are a p1g of a race.

Luckily for me, my wedding set me back about 2 thousand baht 8 years ago. Still going strong. Luckily for me there was no demand to invite every man and his dog to an opulent ceremony. In fact there four of us in total which included two family members as witnesses. I’ve been to a few Thai weddings and I know I got a good deal. I’ve watched the invited guests stuff there bags with free spirits and other stuff while the parents foot the bill. The numbers of guests is sickening and well beyond what is acceptable. This poor bugger now has it all in front of him.

This takes 'dine and dash' to a whole new level!

They usually hand out envelopes for the guests to leave donations. That would have at least helped cover some of it.

Been to a hundred or more Thai weddings including mine. Never have I seen this. You bring your own envelope with whatever you want to give to the wedding. It is then collected or you deposit it upon entering the wedding and greeting the bride and groom.
