Thailand revokes Samui Israeli’s visa over bounty

An Israeli national accused of offering a bounty against the owner of an open zoo on Koh Samui has had their permission to stay in Thailand revoked, according to Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul.

Speaking before the Cabinet meeting at Government House on 25 August 2026, Mr Surasak said he had received a report on the case, from authorities in Surat Thani province. The visitor involved had had their visa withdrawn and would not be allowed to remain in the country.

He described the move as firm action intended to stop the matter escalating into further problems.

Thailand remains open, but expects respect for laws

The Tourism and Sports Minister also stated that he supported visa revocations where there are clear cases of foreigners breaking the law, ignoring social norms or traditional ways of life, or provoking conflict.

Mr Sorawong said there had been a number of recent disputes in Samui and Phuket had reportedly involved Israelis and local people, but stressed that they concerned the behaviour of particular individuals rather than foreigners generally.

"We definitely welcome tourists of all nationalities, but on the principle that they must respect and comply with our culture and laws. The recent conflicts in those two provinces could be regarded as involving individuals, which need to be properly addressed on a case-by-case basis," he said.

He said explicit breaches should result in visa cancellation to help avoid further unrest in the affected areas. For expats and tourists, the practical message is that ordinary disputes can take more serious consequences if they involve threats, intimidation, public disorder or conduct judged to offend Thai laws and local customs.

He also said Thailand would not accept foreigners promoting national ideologies that could create wider disputes. He described Thailand as a non-conflict country and said visitors should not use it as a platform for such activity.

Minister also addresses southern security concerns

Separately, he said attacks at several locations in the four southern border provinces during the week were not expected to affect Malaysian arrivals for Malaysia's National Day holiday on 31 August.

Although the government had attempted to prevent violence, simultaneous attacks at a wide range of targets had made it difficult to protect every location fully, he said. Malaysian visitors were familiar with similar incidents and would understand that most tourist destinations had not been targeted.

OK... in order.

Definitely not self-hating - rather the opposite. By avoiding all religion throughout my life, I actually like myself more than if i slavishly followed the nonsense that they all promote.

Remember - "All religion is a foolish answer to a foolish question"

I'm promoting nothing - that was why I said "This dislike is not a political statement, nor meant to incite anyone else's actions, it's how I personally feel about people I have met - truly "IMO" "

As I've met people, and got to know them, I as do most of us, form opinions, rightly or wrongly of said people. My point is that some you like and some you don't and with 2 exceptions, I have discovered that those who turned out to be Jews, I just have not liked. The 2 exceptions became friends and hold similar views to me based purely on their personal experiences.

Not sure what you mean by "monolith" in this context, but I think my comments above should explain why my feelings are truly based on my personal experiences.

I call BS.

Are you so stupid and naive as to not know that racist Jew haters are always looking for "Jews" to add fuel to the fire of their arguments.

You may call what you wish - though neither of those epithets apply thank you.

I repeat yet again - my comments are based on personal experience - nothing to do with racism although I do dislike the State of Israel purely because of its arrogant oppression by those who should know better based on 20th century history.

Just because one is born into a religion, or cult or whatever, one's religion is what one chooses to believe. Example: the singer Cat Stevens converted to Islam and is now named Yusuf Islam out of choice.

I may have been born into a Jewish family but I'm resolutely not a Jew - the closest label I can attach to myself would be Agnostic - I dislike all religion and choose not to be a part of any of them. I regard all religion as merely a crutch for those who need "something" to believe in. But, if you choose to follow such a belief, that is up to you, and I hope it gives you some sort of comfort as long as you're not proselytising to others.

You are a Jew if you were born a Jew.

Nothing to do with practicing the religion.

To add, quite often racist Jew haters hate atheist Jews (I'm one too) even more than religious ones.

You are free to live in your denialist bubble of course.

I used to stay at a hotel on Koh Phi-Phi, before the tsunami. Taped to the hotel reception desk, under a protective plastic laminate, was an A4 sheet: the gist as close as I can rembember,

" No Israelis. If you are from Israel go away you can not stay here. We do not accept Israelis you are rude, arrogant and dishonest people. Go away.

The management"

So it's not a new sentiment.

When I first set foot in Chiang Mai more than 35 years ago I was surprised to see "No Israelis" signs in front of some guest Houses !?

When I asked why, The answer was everywhere the same, that Israelis always made trouble, didn't pay their food and services, ran away early in the morning without paying, And so much more stories of bad behavior.

A poll has shown 70% of the Israeli population is in support of the genocide in Gaza and elsewhere. So really, their behavior in Thailand is only the tip of the iceberg, but quite revealing all the same.

Sounds like you're lying but I do invite you to prove otherwise and post a credible poll saying 70 percent of Israelis support "genocide" in Gaza.

You're also using the "chisen" thing by twisting it's actual meaning into a racist Jew hating trope.

But I get it.

True, noticed that too.

What I d like to know is why this sudden flock of Israelis coming to thailand ? Most seem young , under 50. There are hefty charges against them for their business actions in the islands . And lots of bona fide complaints from Thai businesses about their behavior. I’ve seen and heard it myself. I’ve also seen it in France where whole neighborhoods have been taken over by mostly miserable small shops, food/ tailors. They were clients of a friend of mine who sold authentic vegetarian food. Boy, were they demanding , rude and impolite often asking for free items so it got to the to the point of them being refused.

Now this is strange. And that it’s happening in Thailand , maybe because it’s a Bouddhist’country and not considered religious ?

I don’t want to see Their schools ( 80 kids) popping up every where or them being able to buy land hotels etc though ghost companies.

You attempt to deflect from the core subject here by splitting hairs over percentages in the overwhelmingly wide Israeli public support for the ongoing genocide in Gaza and elsewhere.

The core subject is wide-spread Israeli bad behavior here in Thailand. The problem is easy to understand as an immoral, bogus self-concept of "Chosen-ness" or Jewish Supremacy in action. As I said the incidents in Thailand are trivial, only the "tip of the iceberg" when viewed against their ghastly inhumanity in the Middle East, especially in Gaza.

A quote of 70% of Israeli public support for the genocide in Gaza is actually a low estimate. It's more like 80% to 95% as you can read below.

The highest recorded percentages of public support for military actions in Gaza appear in surveys conducted by the Peace Index project, which is administered by the Tel Aviv University (TAU) International Program in Conflict Resolution and Mediation.

In their initial surveys following October 2023 (such as the November 2023 and January 2024 Peace Index surveys), they specifically measured Jewish-Israeli public opinion on the scale of military force being used in Gaza:

58% (in Nov 2023) believed the IDF was using too little firepower, while another 37% felt the firepower level was appropriate, totaling 95% combined support for maintaining or increasing military force.

In January 2024, 88% of Jewish-Israeli respondents stated that the scope of the operation and its casualties were justified given the overall war aims.

Where to Find It on the Web:

Pollster/Organization: Tel Aviv University (The Peace Index / Evens Program in International Conflict Resolution and Mediation)

Web Location: You can find these archived reports and detailed dataset breakdowns directly on the official Tel Aviv University website under the Peace Index Archive(en-social-sciences.tau.ac.il/peaceindex/archive).

Another frequently cited high-percentage metric came from the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI), which publishes regular tracking surveys (the Israeli Voice Index) on their official portal (idi.org.il). Their early war surveys registered over 80–85% support among Jewish Israelis for achieving the defined military objectives before considering any major operational pauses.

None of your polls even mention genocide .

So, you are making false and wrong claim about "shown 70% of the Israeli population is in support of the genocide in Gaza and elsewhere."

No polls show your claim

Chabad-Lubavitch maintains a global network of over 6,000 institutions across 100 countries. Why?

Chabad-Lubavitch has two main purposes:

  • To serve the religious and lifestyle needs of Jews who are traveling inside and outside their native countries or living abroad on a long-term basis. To this end, Chabad Houses function as Jewish synagogues and community centers. Chabad Houses are particularly important to Jews who follow a kosher diet, as kosher food can be difficult to obtain in some countries. Chabad sometimes operates Jewish schools and activities for Jewish children and young people.

  • As an outreach program to encourage secular and non-observant Jews return to active practice of the Jewish faith. Jews who request it can receive guidance and counselling from a rabbi or synagogue member. Outreach activities are restricted to Jews; Chabad-Lubavitch does not attempt to convert people who follow other religions

Incorrect. That is only according to traditional Jew law. Halakha. For people that view Jew religious laws as nothing more than a steaming pile of <deleted> that should be erased from the world, people born to a Jew mother included, it matters not one ounce.

Almost no humans on this planet give a <deleted> about traditional religious Jew law (Halakha).

The chosen thing is a religious concept that has nothing at all to do with superiority.

Jews are an ethnoreligious group similar to Kurds.

So both a religion and also a people.

No need to practice Judaism for a Jew to still be a Jew. You can be a Jewish person and.also an atheist at the same time.

Not rare at all actually.

So yes different in that way from other religions.

Not superior. Just differrent
